Tom Hardy (the actor). What do you think of him?

Seems to be a very impressive actor, in my view. Haven't watched many of his movies, but Bronson (2008) shows him as a very capable and real acting professional, instead of the myriads of 'movie stars' one usually sees.

He is in huge blockbuster movies as well (eg as Bane or as Mad Max).

From some interviews i watched (particularly the one with Jonathan Ross), Hardy seems to be introverted.

While I liked Bronson, the main character there was so over-the-top that I don't believe it required very subtle acting. Hardy was good there, but I can't say how he'd do playing a more regular character.

I thought he was rubbish in Star Trek Nemesis, which is probably the only thing I've seen him in. But then he wasn't given much to work with and was woefully miscast as well, so maybe not his fault.

He's good, a talented actor. Anyone curious about him should watch Locke, it's a movie filmed entirely in his car as he juggles an increasingly precarious work and life situation. It's really good, and it's entirely him.

I didn't like that movie. Reminded me of a similar side-role Bale did (again in a fighting-related film, but very different fighting ). Hardy didn't really say much in Warrior, but that was also because the structure of the film had no lead story in the first place.

Going also by his 2007 film (where he co-starred with Cumberbatch or how his surname is spelled ), Hardy seems to tend to go full-nudity in roles when it is asked for. (happened in Bronson as well).

Which i suppose is strange-ish for an a-list actor. Not sure if it adds that much to the role, given we are seeing it as viewers of a movie, and not part of the actual environment the story took place in - if based on a real character or book, as both of those films were.

Also seems to happen far more often with non-american actors.

I think he's good. He was the only bright point in that pretty bad movie Lawless. Mad max was outstanding and hardy was a big reason why. His bane character was quite good. Warrior was good. He seems to have a pretty wide range. I don't remember him in Inception or Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, but both of those movies are excellent. They I randomly saw him in this mob movie called The Drop with James Gandolfini. It's not the greatest of movies, the story is predictable and it's a little dull, but man, why a great character Hardy plays there, and there's a slight twist at the end that's awesome. He did a really great job in that one. He definitely has some acting chops. But I hear his personality is a bit prickly and he and charleze theron hated working together for some reason.

It's kind of one of those guys who maybe you don't peg as the greatest actor but you like all his movies. Tom cruise is also like that for me.

It's really not fair to judge him for that. The writers of Nemesis wanted Picard to fight a younger, sharper version of himself. He got shoved on to set and was asked to be Picard in movie with Patrick Stewart as Picard. Captain Picard is the epitome of the spirit of Star Trek and Patrick Stewart understood that at a deep bodily level. I don't know how the writers were planning on pulling that off, but it didn't work.
