Tom's Unit Factory

It's a pity civIII doesn't allow for animated .flc files for resources and terrain…

tom, i do not know how to tell you, there is a stronghold toolbox, a tool which allows you to see the sprites of the stronghold units, would it be possible to import units from there, animals most likely...i hope u can

Stronghold PC game... I don't have it. I looked up the toolbox, and from what I can see, units probably can be exported into a Civ 3 unit. I haven't been making units lately because of lack of time.

I started doing recolors, and then converting units from games like Stronghold. Anyone can do it, they just need to learn the steps. From what I see, there are only a few animals in that game: Wolves, Bears, Deer, Rabbits, Cows, Lions, and Camels. I think most of these are already made.

Some can be used as trained whatever-s… I hope one day someone can come up with a pack mule/donkey of sorts.

Hmmm ... I was thinking that maybe foot nomad units might "enslave" horses and turn them into combat units. As for cows ... maybe wild cattle "Princess" units for the slaughter?? :dunno:

We could also have them as pets and such in 'urban' scenarios…

I can get the deer from AOE…

I have at times thought about using animals as capturable flag units that can be captured for VP and cash. In fantasy scenarios animals make great extra units for many civs too, well the more ferocious ones anyway. I guess some animals could be flag units produced by buildings eg cattle that could be transported to a vp location for rewards too.

can you also get the gazelle from aoe 1?? and the crocodile, lion, and elephant, also there some birds, as i remember...
Mmmk, I'll do an AOE animals pack as soon as possible (i.e. as soon as I get my CD RW unit working).

I have 'wild horses' in my Old West Mod, which, like Bison, can be fairly easily captured from a 'nature civ'. I also have horses autoproduced by a Horse Farm, or (less often) by a Stable. Horse + 1 citizen upgrades to Horseman. I like your idea for cattle, only they would be autoproduced by a Cattle Farm, which would require occasional 'Cattle Drives' to get them back to the capitol for 'sacrifice' - ahem, butchering.

For domesticated animals, they could be given no discernible use but to disband them. If given a shield cost, that could help towards a cities' production.

I am making (converting) a Lion; need it for CoMM3, also converted some 2d graphics of a cow (yes, a black/white one)/pig. There are a bunch others I found online (not the best, but good enough) that are pretty easy to do. I remember seeing a riderless elephant unit somewhere, can't remember though, I'll have to look for it.

Some of these 2d graphics aren't quite in Civ3 isometric, they are a bit off (the horses are pretty far off). The smaller animals aren't noticeable. There is a donkey in there. Some more deer.
