Tom's Unit Factory

Not?
Spoiler :
IIRC he made a lot of units and sent to Tom to make .flc's. I could be mistaken, but I thought he made these units... Enlighten us (me), please!

My puny head. OT on the 3rd weekend in a row will burn me out completely, seems like. Although "need some dollar, baby" - so will work.
Thanks for replies, the man. :)

I must ask this about slingers in "military" service.

Is it only around the Med that this was used. How about Asia, India, Persia ?
I think I have seen slingers from Persia, but did the Gallic and Germanic people use slingers ?
In game one should have something for these northern europeans instead of slingers. Just what ?
For the Med-nations these slingers should complement the light-infantry of the day. Peltast, Velites and such.
In my book I have a hard time getting these different units into Civ3 and make the AI use them accordingly.
Heavy Infantry (Spearmen) +defense
Assault infantry (sword, clubs, axes) +offensive
Light Infantry (Javelineers, peltast, velites, skrimishers) +fast when no horses
Missile infantry (archers) bombard, early light artillery perhaps, +ROF
Slingers (peasents turned into very useful fast light infantry)

So much to fiddle with to make these be useful in game.

Tom, could you post some palettes for the Elephant units ? I'm not very happy with the palettes I already made, even if they are correct. I'd like to use better ones for these bigger units.

Slings were used in the Winter War to lob Molotov cocktails IIRC.

I just posted a small pack with 3 slingers, I'd like to know what people think about them before I continue. I'm not completely happy with the palettes, but well, they do work ok... I did what I could with the Civilopedia Pics, and also note that there are no sounds or link to sounds because the anims don't have the "standard" timing and this would need some more work. I keep it for a later time (and would be very happy if someone feels like working on this while I'm finishing the rest of the packs :D).

Larger than the civIII Elephant, smaller than H. Balck's.

themanuneed, there are 2 problems with every slinger:
1) the figure's shadow is of the purple color;
2) no unit32.pcx files.

Oops  I forgot the unit32, which is known to be my favourite thing to do ;)
I'll correct it ASAP. Anyway I don't know what you mean about the shadows. Wrong palette ?

EDIT: units_32 added to the original download. Still have to check the shadows.

A bit more info:
Balearic has no problems with shadow.
Funditores has a problem in all .flc's.
Rhodian has a problem with shadow in all .flc's except Run & Victory anims (I may not see it in the civ scale). Please, notice there's a purple "border" around the figure and the shadow in the Default & Fidget anims. In the Attack1.flc you can see a "switch" between purple/normal shadow.

Hope it's helpful.

Hmm, I'll wait for the corrected versions before downloafing then. I'd just opened the filepage and all…
