Hello to all,

great to see that these forum is still alive. After a long time of civ2 adsence I would like to start again creating scenarios as long as my time allows. :)

So I would like to ask you, what version of the ToTPP mod you are using? I´m currently using version 0.14 and it looks that it works stable on my computer (using Win7 64bit).

Unfortunatelly I noticed that some nice helping tools like civcity and civtweak doesn´t work on a 64bit OS. Are there newer versions available or is it possible to run them on a virtual Windows XP mode?

I use version 0.13.2. There are, if I remember correctly, game breaking bugs in release 0.14 and later.

Version 0.13.2 is, so far, completely stable.

New versions of civcity and civtweak for 64-bit OS computer would be absolutely stellar, but, alas, as of now no one has made an updated version, and I don't even know if anyone with the skill, time, and inclination to make such programs is still in the community. Nonetheless, welcome back civ2units. I still have your American War of Independence scenario and have played it several times.

Ok, it seems that 0.13.2 is the version which runs nearly stable. Unfortunatelly I can´t this version, so I try my best with 0.14. Until now I didn´t had any problems.
Am I´m right that the function "CitySpritePerTribe" allowing me to give all available civs in one game their own specific city style, equal which time period they currently are (for example industrial or modern age)?

Great to hear that you still play my AWI scenario:goodjob:
I will try to make an update for relearning the scenario designing, how everything works so far.

Thanks mate.:)

I´ve borrowed your Spanish civilwar scenario to see, how the settings in ToTPP are working. The possibility of using 127 units, more terrain fields, unlimited events opens new ways designing a scenario.

ToTPP has been a huge incentive for me to continue working on scenarios. I think there is a fair bit more we can do still. We haven't even begun to play with the Lua events language yet!

If you are going to design with ToTPP I would really recommend tracking down the 0.13 version in TheNamelessOne's thread as it will only lead to tears if you use v0.14 and find major problems later on.

If you really want to see the full potential of ToTPP I would look at the events for Tootall's Vietnam War.

Might want to avoid the attacks-per-turn feature, it's somewhat less than reliable.

Could you send me the link to version 0.13 please? I only found the latest version in TheNamelessOne's thread.

I assume I have to install a complete new version of ToT and delete my current one for working ToTPP correctly.

I would begin with just replacing the TOTPP launcher. The launcher effects the game directly, that is, edits it in memory, rather than changing the base game before running. I don't think there are any files you need to worry about.

Hi Civ2,

For my part I’ve been using version 0.13.1 for my Vietnam scenario. The version can be found here: https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/the-test-of-time-patch-project.517282/page-30#post-13908456

It really offers a whole new list of functions and features which designers have been looking for so many years. I even created, in the past, a PDF of all the available TOTPP features for up to version 0.14, which can be found on the following thread:

As McMonkey indicated, I believe version 0.14 and above were found to be a little unstable, and as I remember there was a consensus at the time, that it would probably be preferable to work with version before that one.

As Erica pointed out, the only feature players reported as being unstable in my scenario was the “Attacks per turn” feature, but I believe this is only true if you plan on using more than the standard 81 unit.

Since I’m using the full 127 unit grid in my game, I’ve had to go back and remove that feature. I’ve also been making a whole slew of other changes thanks in large part to both McMonkey and Techumseh’s playtesting feedback. I hope to have version 2.0 released in the very near future.

As McMonkey indicated, feel free, if you like to download my scenario from the Scenario League website and poke around at the event and rules files amongst others.

Hi McMonkey,

Thank you for your nice comments. As I indicated, I've made some important changes, based in no small part on your excellent playtesting feedback, which should make the game even more interesting and challenging. Thank you again for your help!

Thank you all for your efforts. It´s great to see that this forum is currently very alive.

I downloaded the version 0.13.2 and will install it on a new, clean ToT installation.
Tootalls Vietnam War scenario will be a good source for learning all the things I need for designing a scenario. I think I´ve to learn many skills again, as I didn´t use them the past years.

I´ve found a solution for my problems I had.
I don´t need to reinstall a complete fresh Civ2 game, I only replaced the patched civ.exe with the original one and deleted all ToTPP files. After copying the new files (Version 0.13.2) everything works fine.

CivCity and CivTweak are also working on my 64bit Win7. I´m currently using the Virtual XP Mode on my Computer, so both tools working fine. Starting a new game, setting all cities, saving and using both tools for changing parameters. After that I start designing the scenario with all possibilities of ToTPP.

It´s great to see that there is a possibility of setting custom ressources.

My AWI scenario will be the first rework with ToTPP.

14.1 Seemed ok, fixed the home city bug from 14, but does not work with a lot of older scenarios.
13.2 Also CTDs with many scenarios not built for it.
13.1 seems pretty stable with everything.

I have seen no reason to use 13.0 or older

I would like to use the extra terrain types but unfortunatelly something doesn´t really work for me. Does anyone knows what it is and maybe can explain me how I can fix the problem?
This would be great :-)

You have to modify the @Rules file and the @Terrain1 file to include the extra rows of terrain available with ToTPP, and you have to ensure that your ToT Exe. is patched.
