Disaster!, General Douglas MacArthur's Failed invasion of Cuba
Douglas MacArthur's plan for taking the 'soft underbelly of the centrals in north america' was a simple and somewhat brilliant. However, he commited several intellegence and strategic blunders that almost ended in his own death. The Ameican invasion force was made up of 11 fleet task forces, four of which were for the sole porpuse to carry 40,000 men. The plan was to arrive at the undefended city of Holguin. The french were also expected to send a force of 20,000 men and 5 fleet task forces to help. From here Cuba was expected to fall. General Macarthur had encountered strategic information of some of the CSA's plans, and so he dared to think that the war was to be won.
But things went different, the second the americans were loading up the ships, the confederates moved armies in Santigo de cuba to Holguin, somehow knowing that this was the city to be invaded. they stablished fortifications and several machine gun nests. they also manned the city's costal guns. As the American invasion fleet was on its way, the entire confederate fleet numbering 7 fleet task forces and one texan one gathered in Havana Cuba.
THE BATTLE OF HOLGUIN
On August 13, the invasion force arrived, they fired at the city w/ naval artillery, and received no fire in return, apparently the city was undefended as hoped by the plan. As the yankees left the ships and moved into the shore they were meet with machine gun fire, some barbwire and 10,000 defenders. The costal guns then started to fire upon the ships. MacArthur authorised 2 great landings, but both were pushed back into the sea. Then the Confederate fleet arrived, the US fleet could not manouver as needed due to men in their landing crafts. The Numbers were on the Confderates side thanks to the Texan ships. It is unknown why MacArthur didnt use the entire US fleet for his operations, but he paid dearly. He was forced to retreat, saving as many men as possible and headed to Puerto Rico, (canadians went back home to resupply) confederates not giving chase. The confederates lost several ships, but the battle was definetely a Confederate victory, the Americans casualties include, 8,000+ dead, 12,000 severely wounded, 6,000 captured, and 3,000+ missing in action. (The French expedition forces are yet to arrive after 4 days lost due to the slowing down by moving the fleets to Bordeaux from the channel to load up the men)
... but the effects of the intellegence errors and false CSA battle plan maps Douglas MacArthur planned his strategy on, would not end here.
August 9- August 15
General Al Capone fails on several Fronts, Washington City Falls!
The "Confederate battle plans" MacArthur came into contact through unkown channels seem to have been passed to General Al Capone. Who apparently changed his entired battle plans due to it, unknowing that the plans were false misinformation. The armies moved near Springfield Missouri to "sandwich" an expected invasion by General Joseph Jackson (descendent of the famed Stonewall Jackson). But the invasion never came!, in fact the CSA armies moved to a totally different direction. Further west, Al Capone expected to crush the CSA once again in a 'battle of indianapolis', one that never came to be. Joseph Jackson retained a completely defensive operation, oposite of what some were drawn to believe due to the false intellegence.
The US forces eventually came to try to cross the river, but were meet by heavy resistance and were forced to pull back, having some casualties.
THE FALL OF WASHINGTON CITY
Al Capone had given specific orders to all of his armies, all except to where the actual invasion took plance, where the civil war started over 50 years ago. The Confederates moved quickly and easily took a city undefended, however the army to the west responded as best as its general could and moved to retake the city, the Battle for Washington City had started....

AUGUST 7
LUXEMBURG SURRENDERS
August 5- August 15
Brave Belgium fights, but falls back on all fronts
Belgium fought bravely from start, and it was shown on German casualties and by slowing the enemy. The Belgians suffered horrendous casualties, but in some cases there were 2 germans killed for every Belgian.
The Germans pushed by sheer numbers and over ran the defense lines, making it to the skirts of Brussels.
If it hadnt been for the good planning and morale boost of its generals, Brussels and all of Belgium would have surrenedered, but it still stands. However most of its army is gone, whatever man defending Brussels lacks training and supplies. King Albert I, has announced that he will not leave and help defend his capital.
AUGUST 14
Battle of Metz begins
The Spearhead of the German army pushed through Belgium Luxemburg and france, only to meet w/ the French near the city ot Metz. This is to be a decisive battle simply because of its sheer size, numbers go up to at least to 350,000 men.

AUGUST 4- AUGUST 15
THE MANY FRONTS OF ASIA MINOR
The Turks were getting ready to invade Cyprus as soon as possible, the men were started to load up, meanwhile the first important effect of air power made itself known in the war. A German pilot went on recon in the east mediterrenean finding that the Brittish fleet headed towards Beirut. The pilot avoided being shot down and made it back, getting down from his plane informed a local, he got into his camel and headed to the port as soon as possible, yelling a rather familiar line known to historians (in turkish of course). Upon arrival the men were unloaded off the ships, and the ships tried to move to a safer place. Sadly enough the Brittish fleet arrived and completely destroyed the ottoman inferior fleet (altough losing some ships as well). However bad the naval defeat, it could have been much worse had those men were being transported. Both the pilot and young man got a medal of honor. The warning words?, nothing more than "The Brittish are comming".
The Russians came on from the Black sea, but so much hard planning was not to happen, the admiral took its fleet back to sevastapol for refiting, the ottomans had laid many sea mines precenting an invasion and naval attack. However the Russians will soon return ready with minesweapers. All this as the Ottomans push into the Caucausus.
