YESYESYES! I love BTS! It is awesome! Their truffles rock...

Ahem. As you know, the Truffles random event gives +1 Food and +1 Commerce in the selected tile. What if you're Financial, and the tile is your capital?

Haha! Super quick research on Marathon (relatively)! Plus, Gandhi was up north, and I killed him in one turn!

Good hit, Gooblah!
Now, if only I could arrange my city placement strategies around the possibilities of truffles showing up......;)

That stil doesn't explain why you are working that clam title instead of the corn(and once you reach size 2 maximize hammers to get that workboat out there...).

oO

i never saw something like that. I thought, there are the TWO possibilities for yields of a city: 2/1/1 and 2/2/1. You see, a city tile doesnt even get the +1 C from being riverside.. :crazyeye:

No, cities will get the tile's unimproved output if it's greater than the city tile's.

So it's possible to get 3/1/1 if you settle on a food resource like rice, or 2/1/2 (2/1/3 if financial) if you settle on a riverside commerce resource. I've even gotten 2/2/2 for settling on riverside plains hill gold and 2/3/1 for settling on a plains hill iron.

Yeah, it all depends on terrain and the resource you settle on. I settled on a Grasslands Hill.

@Oyzar- I'm maximizing food and commerce till Size 2, then adding the Grasslands Hill Forest;

Pretty sure working the corn would end up giving more commerce in the long run. Working a 2 output title in the early game is pretty bad...

Nice! I've never gotten that in my capital's tile. I would work a forest grassland, get the workboat out faster while maintaining a decent growth.

Truffles! How delicious.

I love getting them on riverside forest grasslands. With lumbermills the tile gives 3F/3H/3C.

Well, theoretically, this should've gone in the Stories and Tales part, so if a mod moves it, it would be appreciated,...:goodjob:

Played the game more. I've settled York a few tiles north, on the coast, near a Fish, Horses, Forests, Hills, etc. Should be a good area for production. Nottingham is now bordering the French; Napoleon's city there (Lyons? dunno...) doesn't have a Monument, but Nottingham does, so I could steal tiles from him. Nottingham is prepping a massive cottage farm; Flood Plains, Plains, and irrigated Rice. There's a barbarian city to the north, and a (somewhat) large island to the west of London, with Copper. So I'm whipping a Galley, Warrior, and Settler in York to settle the island, and once the Horses are hooked up, Chariots will raze Napoleon's city and the barbarian kingdom. Sitting Bull is also to the north. Our landmass is looking like a massive Right Triangle. Napoleon's at the 90-degree, me and Sitting Bull at the extremes.

As for the Strategy and Tips part:

Okay, so with any Imperialistic Leader, there's a 50% bonus for building Settlers. However, this bonus only applies to the raw hammers, not the total food+hammers. Thus, working a 1F/2H tile is better than a 2F/1H tile when building an Imperialistic Settler.

Well, war with Napoleon occured. Twice. But so did a lot of things:

1) War with Napoleon; razed 2 cities, made him sue for peace.
2) Founded Confucianism, which spread like wildfire into every city on the continent within 100 turns; The Oracle was built and Metal Casting was lightbulbed.
3) Optics Beeline began after trading HR and Monotheism to Sitting Bull for Alphabet. GP popped, then GS;
3) GP built Confucian Shrine; Research slider pumped up 40% from income (50% to 90%)
4) GS lightbulbed Philosophy; Taoism founded in second island city (which grabbed Iron and two Whales)
5) 2 Awesome random events (again) in London; one gave 2 extra commerce to Silk tile, other gave me choice of settled GM, GP or Great Military Inst.. I chose the Merchant.
6) Colossus built; research time halved due to increased commerce;

Anyways, I grabbed Machinery, and then looked the French Border. I almost had a heart attack; 10 Swords, 10 Chariots, 10 Axes, and some assorted units were swarming near my secondary production center, Covington, which was settled near the razed cities to grab Fish, Fur, Marble, and Pigs. I whipped/chopped Maces, Axes, Crossbowmen, and Catapults, and fortified near Nappy's line; He DoWed. I retaliated, grabbing Paris, and razing yet another 2 cities...

Napoleon and Sitting Bull are conquered. Napoleon fell within a few turns of losing Paris; Sitting Bull fell to 50 Redcoats, 10 Cannons, 5 Privateers, 4 Ships of the Line, and 10 Cavalry. His power rivalled mine until I converted Rheims and Paris to massive powerhouses...
