[TSL] Yet (not) Another Earth Maps Pack

First Ottoman capital was city of Bursa. The turkish people did come from Central Asia, not Ottoman empire (starting point in anatolia, present Turkey). if you put the Ottomans in Central Asia you wouldn't only put the capital in the wrong place but you would also put the Civilization in the wrong place. Gøkturks (skyturks) was the name of the civilization in Central Asia.

I did not know that about Bursa. Thanks for teaching me something new :)

Also, your point about the Gokturks is interesting the more I think about it. On the one hand, I would not mind having the Ottomans symbolically represent the wider family of Turkic Peoples by starting in Central Asia. But, on the other hand, Civ 5 doesn't do that - it picks modern disposition instead (when possible).

For example, by the logic I was advocating: the Celts could better start in mainland Europe, the Americans in New York (first capital woohoo!), Philadelphia or even the UK, the Mongols anywhere but Karakorum, the Russians in Kiev, India in Harappa, the Germans God-knows-where, the Polynesians in Taiwan, etc., etc..

Maybe someday someone could make a mod-mod (or whatever we call it these days) reflecting ancient distributions of peoples. For now though, AMC, you're right that Civ5 presumes peoples are found in their more recent locations.

Either way, Gedemon will make the final call for this mod... hopefully before I finally get to play G&K, but there's no rush on that :mischief:

What I want is starting position based on what it would be at the entry of that civilization in History. As some of you may know, I'm also working (well it's in standby while I'm making components for it) on a Dynamic History mod with civs starting at real position AND date. YnAEMP will be the base of the mod.

Another problem is that on the huge earth map, the we would have to pick either the Dutch or Dennmark, due to little space.

Sorry if this has been asked and/or said already, but is the mod updated for Gods & Kings? :)

I was just wonderring when the .dll was released for Civ 4..
If i remeber correctly it was after a second expansion... Which would mean that another expansion is propbably to be expected sometime in the future adding a lot of new civs. And if this is the case then the .dll must be released some time soon.

Process started, but I need help. Actually I'm coding the new resources in and thanks to PR0927 we've got the list of the new major Civilization and their possible starting plots (I may tweak those in next updates, priority is having a working version...), but now I need the same for the new city states, and a list of resources that should be at starting position of the 9 major civilizations.

Oh and about that guy suggesting that the Huns start in Hungary, well where they would be better of starting would be near the caspain sea or near Mongolia in the steppes where they originated.
Europe is already crowded to the brim and G&K adds about 3 new European civs and the steppes is abandoned and barbarians are spammed everywhere there because of this fact. The Huns are believed to come from Xiongu which is a part of Northern China near Mongolia which would be a good starting place for the Huns

I've not put them in China, but yes, I've used the possible eastern locations for them, in the region north of Black sea and Caspian Sea. I've also moved the Ottoman a bit to the east.

When do you think you'll be finished coding for resources? I'd offer help, but my schedule is nowhere near open for weeks.

Yeah, I agree with you actually. Black Sea/Caspian Sea general area is not bad.

About the location of the Hun's capital city, Attila's Court was most likely not in Budapest. In fact, it was most likely in the third largest of modern day Hungary, Szeged

However, this makes me wonder. If Attila's Court is placed there, is Europe still absurdly-crowded.

And I'd love to help Gedemon with the new city-state locations - does anyone know where to find a list of the new city-states in G&K?

Here's a quick attempt at getting all the city-states (I found a list on a wiki meant for this game, but I'm not sure it's accurate or if it's omitting some of them):

Thank you AMC and PRO927 :)

I will release a "lite" version for G&K before leaving for 2 weeks tomorrow morning.

By lite it means that it won't have updated CS mods, the new resources will be available but won't have regional restriction, and TSL for G&K major civs will be set "only" for giant Earth, huge Earth and large Europe.

I'll update again to a "full" version when I'll be back.

I loaded a game of v13 in G&K with 11 random civs and myself as the Americans. It seemed to work until the Incans showed up in game and their leaderhead screen was completely white. I imagine this is because v13 is not fully compatible with G&K and I need to wait a day for the lite release?

strange, the only thing that could goes wrong using the current version with G&K (except from not being able to pick the new leaders to play) should be the resources. And then I don't expect bugs, just no new resources on the maps.

Did the other graphic arts related to the Incans (icons, etc) were working fine ?

Perhaps a graphical memory temporary problem... have you tried to quit civ5, and then reload that game ?

And you won't have to wait for tomorrow...

v.15 (Jun 22, 2012)
- Added Starting Positions for G&K civilizations on giant Earth, huge Earth and large Europe map.
- Moved Ottoman starting position a few tiles east.
- Denmark renamed to original setting, no more "Scandinavia".
