[TSL] Yet (not) Another Earth Maps Pack

My computer and patience can't handle the Giant map, so I usually play on Huge.

I noticed the BNW civilizations aren't on the huge map yet. I went to open the world builder to put them in myself; however the SDK hasn't been updated and it says my current version of civ5 does not match the current world builder version. -_-

I guess I'll have to wait until they update their SDK. :mad:

You don't even need the new SDK to accomplish this, I just have no idea what the X and Y values are for the new civs....If someone who has the old client that matches the SDK can put these civs on the huge map they would be my hero.... Just sayin'.
 
You can't add starting position to this mod via the World Builder, it will not work. The maps are all completely "blank" from scenario information, that's what allow the mod to work with all versions of civilization, all DLC, all expansions, allow placement of civilization that have not been released yet, allow choosing exactly the civ you want on the map, etc...

btw, someone had sent me a few messages on steam related to that, but I wasn't able to answer or note the name of the users that send them (was on my phone). So whoever you are, what's above (and the first post of this thread) should also answer your question.

If you have debugging mode switched on (refer to you config ini file) then it should display ingame the hex coordinates in the tooltip that appears just above the next turn button (not the mouse pointer). It will say something like 29x, 42y along with the usual river, hill, grassland, mine text stuff.

Zulu starting position might not be 100% right in southern Africa and where you put Brazil is probably a personal preference, near Brasilia is what this one is though; buy anyways, they are both there. The three new natural wonders are not on this map yet, btw!

Yes, I could really use it, I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the updates... And I feel very lucky that except maybe for R.E.D. Modpack, nothing unexpected has happened to my mods with the new patch.

How would you proceed ? Usually when checking for a new starting location, I'm using the opportunity to compare the region in google map, try to add (or verify) rivers, hills, mountains, and other features placement in the area.

The map was made with a static set of civilizations in mind, TSL for those should be good already, but we have to check for the placement of the other civs, for balanced start.
 
I'd like to have a compare/merge tools for maps, I've also made a few change there and there...
 
Wanted to say big thanks for the mod; been using it forever and it's added so much replay value to the game.

That said, there seems to be a bug in the BNW update. When selecting the 'riche' option for resources it seems that both luxury resources and strategic resources are incredibly scarce. For instance, over the entirety of one game I only found a single luxury/strategic resource (however there were tons of deer, wheat, bananas, etc.)

Al-Iskander have send me a list of starting position for djvandyke's map, I'd like to know if there are some edit to do around those position on the map in your opinion.

I took a guess at civilization start positions for the "Greatest" map. If this is helpful, feel free to use these. I took some liberties in some situations:

Sweden was too near the top of the map. The Ottomans were moved away from Istanbul. I kept Attila at the top of the Caspian. The Shoshone's Moson Kahni is semi-legendary, so I used Pocatello, Idaho (leader's name and headquarters of the modern Northwestern Band of the Shoshone tribe), and moved Old Faithful to 7,50.

I removed El Doraodo, connected the gap in the Nile River, and added a river through the Bosporus. Also, generally, the map distortions made it a little difficult to place certain cities.

Several start locations, like Polynesia, Indonesia, Siam, and maybe others put those Civs at a disadvantage. That may be irreparable.
