[TSL] Yet (not) Another Earth Maps Pack

My computer's specs are far above what DX11 requires, and I normally play with the DX9 version, so I don't think its an issue with computer. The fact that I'm running DX9 might explain it, not my computer's power.

CivOasis, forgive me for my newbie question, but does DX9 use less power than DX11? If this is the case, maybe I can play the saved games that crashed with the DX9 version and manage to finish them (but I don't know whether a game saved with DX11 can be opened with DX9, any suggestions?)

Yes, they'll work back and forth. DX9 will give you a few graphics issues, though. Mostly, wonder icons will look funny. Nothing gameplay-affecting, though. It might allow you to finish those old games.
 
To all people whose map crashes:

I got rid of all the crashes when I disabled autosave, I play Huge YAEM with no problems.. so far. ;)

Some saves from turn 99 for example always crashed as the game made autosave on turn 100.

Gedemon, aside from the inconsistent "Ilé-Ifẹ̀" thing and the misplacement of Honolulu, a small typo - Scandinavian units (such as a worker) are labeled "Scandinavia worker" rather than "Scandinavian worker." Other civilizations don't have this typo.

I disabled autosaves and started a new giant map. So far (turn 280) no crashes, so it seems to work. Wish me luck!

All right! Hopefully it works for you, I think that map is almost 'essential civ 5' stuff, it's so fun.

I love to keep scouts around the world and follow when wars broke out between alliances, on my current game Ottoman Empire is trying to fend off an invasion of seven enemy empires.
I also like to start the map from medieval start.

I just want to ask how exactly does civ_request resources xml file work. I added some lines for some civs but the resources appear random..... I followed the same format and everything but it doesn't seem to work.

For example, I gave Rome cows and dyes but they don't appear, sometimes they will appear if I reload. Everything seems kinda random.

Bad news. I played with auto-saves disabled (set to every 500 turns I think). The game is repeatedly crashing at turn 234 for me, as Aztecs.

This is a shame because it's one of the strongest games I've ever gotten started on.

O.K., actually might have some good news here. I kept trying to load my save game and was able to get it to the next turn when I put all my workers to sleep, stopped my scouts, and halted one city from growing.

With a lot of trial and error, I isolated the crashing down to several units - it was either my two embarked scouts, or one embarked worker.

In a previous game, I had a particular worker crash the game when it went to auto-improve a tile. I had put that worker to sleep and the crashing had stopped, but whenever I tried to use the worker again, the game crashed. So I deleted the worker and the game stopped crashing.

So in my current game I used the same solution and deleted both of my scouts and the one worker. Crashing stopped, and I replaced the worker with a brand new unit.

I don't think auto-saves are responsible for this. I'm pretty sure the vanilla game (non-mod maps) crashes every once in a while too on the same turn like this. I'm thinking this is an overall game glitch.

My games on these maps tend to crash around the same turn count as well, even with autosave disabled. I've never experienced it on a vanilla map, although I tend to play small continents which means fewer workers (from AI and myself) so that could be how it's been avoided.

There was a post on the 2k forums at some point saying that the cause of the late game slowdown was due to the workers, so it's possible the coding for the workers is susceptible to buggy behaviour.

Have you experienced any crashing after you deleted the worker PR-0927? In other words, had you to go through the same process again at a later turn count?
 
No crashing since. This is the second time the workers have been the culprit. Never found a different culprit.

Hi Gedemon,

I've read that you are close to release a new YnAEMP version, thus I've some questions for you :)

1) I've renamed NWs in my custom maps, but pedia shows the renamed text (Iron Mountain x Cerro de Potosi) only at top screen and not in the side bar (attachment 1)

2) I've tried to update pedia text also for renamed NWs, adding the required tag/text pairs in the map defines. Unfortunately the log shows an error. I've attached both log and lua code used

the "SetText()" function is very basic, I've made it for short sentences, you can use it for what you plan, but you must use 2 ' instead of one in the text for the sql query to work.

ex : "Aphrodite''s Rock" but not "Aphrodite's Rock"


I've updated your texts and will release v.13 soon.
