Turbo folk thread

My favorite Yu rock songs, and its not Serbian rock or Bosnian or Croat its Yugoslav.

I got very drunk on homemade brandy listening to Nuclear Bunker in Ново Лисиче once, with the husband of one of my wife’s friends. I do not remember leaving their flat but the music was good.

WTH is this ****

The thread title should be "generic pop music"

I'm not even really sure what's "folk" about it. It has some regional-sounding melodies, I guess, but that just it makes it sound like those Eurovision entries where they try to give it a vaguely national flavour, rather than any sort of folk-fusion.

Singers like Ceca were folk singers originally. The Serbs crossed folk with pop music and it became Turbo Folk. Some of the songs they sing now are based on old folk songs but most of them are just pop.

Well the girls in the second video I'm posting are pretty sexy imo. Referring to the ones walking across the bridge (wonder if it's the same bridge that seperates Serbian Kosovo and Bosnian Kosovo):

Also the whole "urban youth culture" thingy is just a smokescreen to distract the Serbs from the fact that they have a declining population and are surrounded by ethnicities who want to kill them. That is the true downside to Turbo Folk - it's all a lie!

Note how both those songs have "na Balkanu" in them;)

Bosnian Kosovo:confused:

This basically sums up all you need to know about turbofolk.

So basically what I'm getting is people took folk music and said "I hate this. What is the worst thing I can possibly do to it?"

This thread clearly shows the absurdity of having an Art & Entertainment forum totally abandoned.
