Comparing model parliament to site feedback is like comparing apples and oranges.
Either way you look at it, this is one fruity place...:mischief:

Because these threads are are sponsored by the OT crowd, they have filled them in the OT style...This will go away in a week or three, and after that I hope it will be back to normal, and don't see any need to make PC not count here.
Hard to say - Site Feedback has always been the favoured talking ground for a couple of long-time posters... away fr all the political talk in the OT.

And remember the time when it was renamed the CFC Tavern? :)

Slightly OT, I have mentioned before that my general philosophy for posting is to ask myself whether the post I am about to make actually contributes anything useful to the topic.
This, coming fr the guy who posts in the MRST... :mischief:

I firmly believe that people take more notice of you when you post to make a point, not just to increment a number.
No argument there.

Anyway, I meant what I said earlier in this thread. I think post count should be disabled outside of the Civ forums. I don't want to see XIII hit 10,000.
CT will hit 10000 before I do, and as early as within the next 48 hours. ;)

No fair... :p

Why unfortunately? Why shouldnt OT count?

Why should the postcount even be here? Comtemplating it over dinner, I have failed to come up with a single decent explaination as to why we even have the postCount in the first place. I see the reason for the Status, etc., but NOT the postcount. Why don't we get rid of the Postcount completely?

Ok, maybe we could have the postcount to 300, to show you are commited enough to this site to get your own avatar, i see the purpose there, but then why after that? I mean, all it does is create useless threads like this one (no offense . . . ). Also, it is just more unecessary information for the internet to load when you access this site.

Be nice please. This is the first Forum site like this I have been to. I am still young and naive . . .

I don't think many people spam for postcount. They spam because it is easy.

However, PC should be disabled simply because it is annoying and establishes a sense of hierarchy and even judgement...

Hehe, this coming from the person who has the highest PC on the site . . .

But other from that, i completely agree with you, the PC is completely irrevelant. Maybe I should start another Campaign . . .

Please don't. :( We've got enough threads about post count as it is...

No, I will not . . . yet. I think the Politics Forum Campaign is winding down, then i will give it a rest for awhile, and maybe try for a Post Count Elimination campaign. I do support it though, I still have yet to see a valid reason as to why Post Counts are in place . . .

Ironic, yes. But he's also one of the people asking for it to be turned off. There's plenty of threads here in SF where he's advocating exactly that. If he was so interested in keeping the high PC (unless this is some kind of machiavellian plot to keep his PC frozen at the highest. . .) he would not be trying to get it turned off.

I would think because TF doesn't want to change it...what his reasons are I don't know exactly, but it doesn't matter. It's his site and his will is law!

By the way, even if you wait to start a 'campaign' for post count elimination, all the preexisting threads regarding PC will still be here. Besides, post counts do have occasional value. It's fun watching how long a poster can go on a spampage before burning out and fading into oblivion...

I wouldn't mind knowing how many of CG's posts were actually spam. he's usually not too bad on that front :)

After any amount of time, i highly doubt that postcount is a motivating factor. It is probably most likely used as it should be - to gauge activeness within the site.

I don't see why some people have such an issue with the single line in the profile.

Says the guy with over 16 posts a day on average

And there are spam in all forums, so you could disable postcount all togheter.
Or you could make *drum rool please*THE SPAM POLICE (With me as the leader of course, Anares could be my asistant):p
We would go trough the forums looking for anything remotley connected to spam, everytime you spam, we reduce your PC by 2.
Its brilliant! And now nobody would dare posting because their afraid of going -1 in Postcount. YEAHHHH

I disagree with you Anarres. I do agree that the site feedback isn't as good a read as it was, but at least the subjects are civfanatics-related. I feel that the colosseum fora are not. I'd agree with superslug to disable postcount for the non-civ (or for that matter non-game) related fora though.

On the other hand, a site without postcount would simply be better. Oh, and while you're at it, I'd like to search for my own posts.

A suggestion to lefty and tf: maybe it'd be good to close threads in site feedback more often, or move them to OT alltogether when the spam hits the fan.
