Tusk1 - Ladies First

At this level? About 10% spears at most -- just enough to cover the border towns and have a couple in our attack stacks. If we actually need the spears, we haven't been attacking aggressively enough :hammer: :D

France - no trading
Egypt - all trades are one for one
Russia - first civ attacked and conquered.
England - Ex.
Spain - Wife. Must try to ally in wars.

Pre-turn:

Kyoto changes to Sword and works the BG instead of having a tax man.
Tokyo -> Sword
Edo -> Sword
Kagoshima -> Barracks
Nara -> Settler (to Settler-abandon the city and move it)
Nagoya -> Granary

Turn 1 - I start moving troops around. We need an attack stack ready once we get our Galleys in position to invade Russia.
Turn 2 - zzz...
Turn 3 - zzz...
Turn 4 - France completes the Temple of Artemis
Turn 5 - Nara Settler-abandons
Turn 6 - Nara is re-founded on the riverbank
Turn 7 - We launch 4 Swords to attack Russia. We'll need to get a reinforcements network going, but this is a start.
Currency comes in. Researching Monarchy.
Turn 8 - Egypt has Construction now, so we make that trade.
Sell England Writing for 34 gold.
Sell Spain Currency for 41 gold.
Turn 9 - I consider gifting Russia into the MA to see what she gets as a free tech, but I'd rather not face MDI in the upcoming war. Besides, I'm pretty sure we wouldn't be able to afford to buy one of those techs...
Turn 10 - Nagasaki founded on the black dot.
France has Monarchy :(

Handoff notes:
The three Workers by Nagoya should go to the ruins of Old Nara and build a road once they complete their current Irrigation task.
We have plenty of Swords loitering around Edo, playing cat-and-mouse with Egyptian settler pairs. They can go into new Galleys as they get produced from Satsuma and Nagasaki to support the war effort in Russia.
Kyoto should produce yet another Settler after the Sword completes.
Osaka should peel off another Worker after it hits size 7.
Edo can peel off another Worker, too.
The Workers at Satsuma should build a road to Nagasaki after their current task is done.

CBob is up.

I am up but I need to ask for a skip or swap. Thursday or Friday would be the earliest I could take the game.

I am back and I will have a look at the game. Proably will be thurasday before I have time to play though.

The Short:
There are 6 Swordsmen waiting in the hills north of Russia. Another 4 will be kicked out in the next two interturns and can then join the stack. If you always move 2 units through Egypt or russia they will be kicked out after 2 turns and land on the field next to the stack. When you want to use cats too you can switch the current builds in Osaka and Kyoto, but I would think the swordsmen we have will proably be enough.

Monarchy is due in 2 turns.

Also why are all the oasis irrigated? This is a waste before Monarchy and proably a bad idea afterwards too.

Turnlog

Spoiler :
Preturn
All set, Plan is to build up an Army, and a fleet to transport the Army to Russia. In the meantime I might take Memphis for fun.
I Change EDO to Galley, as I think we need a few more of these for now, and we have enough fast Swordproducing towns running

Turn 1:
Send Our Galley of northern Egypt an suicide run to find the other continent.

Turn 2:
4 more swords and a galley finish, suicide galley is sunk.
Spain has Monarchy but we have nothing to trade. At least research cost is lowered by another 3 turns

Turn 3:
Barcelona has finished the SoZ
Both Spain and France stat the Hanging Gardens

Found Yokohama on white Dot.

Turn 4:
I managed to bring our 4 swords on a attacking position against russia.

Turn 5:
Tzzzzz ...

Turn6:
Our Beautiful wife finishes the great lighthouse in Madrid.

Turn 7-10

Tzzzzz...

Rules Question:

I would understand the rule about the exwife, that we are meant to be in perpetual war with her. After all thats what Ex-Wifes are for. So we should redelare at least as soon as it is possible without losing reputation.

Also if we dont have one, we should build an embassy in Spain to ally her in our wars against England and Russia.

Looks like they got watered in the quest to irrigate Satsuma and Tokyo.

Agreed on building an embassy with Spain.

As for the Ex, I agree in spirit...and TBH I'm not sure how we ended up at peace with her.

Roster check:

Elephantium
CommandoBob - swapped, up?
Kulko - just played
LKendter
MrRandomGuy - on deck

I think the got peaced during the confusion whos wife and whos ex. Anyway its clear this Elisabeth is only after our money to finance her miami beach condo which she stole from us during the divorce. So we better send our attorneys after her immediately.

Except we have to destroy Russia first according to the craziness of the rules. After that we should go after Elizabeth.

Just because we have to destroy Russia first doesnt mean we cannot declare war on Elisabeth.

Got it

What is the rules situation on the war with England?

At the moment we have troops in English territory. I'm not going ruin our rep just to fix our mistake. I'm waiting one turn.

330 BC (1)
I declare on England. This will get ugly with no spears, or catapults in our stack.
(IT) We revolt to monarchy. If we are doing this much fighting, it is the only sensible govt.

170 BC (9)
The mysterious Greeks complete the Great Wall.

Summary:
I'm next to Nottingham, but I've made no effort to take it. I'm waiting for our newly built settler to arrive to raze and replace. We need a permanent base on the other side of Egypt.

With two fish now in ranges thanks to a temple, Nara should concentrate on economic buildings. We need to start to work on economy. Kyoto's market place should help with that next turn.

Quick look around and everything looks good.

IBT

An English swordsman kills one of ours from our stack.

A few cities complete projects. Order to build swords and catapults.

Spainish are building Sun Tzu

Egypt asks us to remove troops from her territory or declare war. I remove them thinking they would go into Russia territory but that didn't happen sadly.

Osaka revolts. I place an entertainer inside temporarily and change production to a temple.

(4) 70 BC

Remembered that Monarchy requires military police to be happy so I send over a new unit from Kyoto to Osaka and remove the entertainer. I keep the production of a temple as is to make it less likely for the city to revolt.

IBT

English continues to attack the units in her territory. I'm really itching to fight but still need to wait for the settler to arrive.

Spain demands 25 gold from us. I give into her as she is our "loving" wife.

Now Noyoga is revolting. It only has one unit so I temporarily place an entertainer in there until another unit can be stationed there for MP.

(9) 30 AD

We have raised an English city and captured 3 slaves! I direct all of the units to go to the ruins of Old Nottingham to build a new Japanese city there.

IBT

The English send out a small attack force but only attack with one swordsman who dies against the spearman.

(10) 50 AD

I set a new Japanese city over the decaying ruins of the former English city. Production set for walls.

I kill off the remaining attack force of the English in our new territory.

Summary

We have raised an English city to put our own over the old ruins. Production was primarily focused on swords and catapults. Overall a productive 10 turns.

We're supposed to kill Russia first, according to the rules.

It's a pity about all the Temples we've built -- we don't need them to manage happiness (if a town is in danger of rioting, hire a specialist or up the lux slider). Each one costs us a Swordsman.

I've got it.
