A crash to desktop.

The only thing saving this game from being tossed on the trashheap (or, at least, tossed in a drawer until several patches) is the fact that I play with autosave on. Sure, once I hit around 1500 AD, I crash every four or five turns, but with the autosaves, at least I have some progress.

How long until the first patch?

Or indeed, get to the point like I have, where you save every other thing you do...

I've got so worried about it crashing from leaderheads or city screens or scrolling that I'm overwriting my savefile at least 4 times per turn now. What a farce!!!!

I'm just glad it only takes about 30secs to restart the game and reload the game.

edit the CivilizationIV.ini file to read

; Specify the number of turns between autoSaves. 0 means no autosave.
AutoSaveInterval = 1

instead of the default 4.
