UI modifications (suggestions and discussion)

yeah that's the problem with using those hotkeys for that... Maybe a toggleable setting instead of a hotkey system?
I guess I could add a button for the toggle in the main interface... But then if you want it when in the pedia you must exit the pedia to hit that button before entering the pedia again. Perhaps a toggle hotkey in addition to the button; like ctrl+alt+T or something.

As fast as you have the pedia, I don't think it would be problematic to have to leave it to change the behavior option.

CTRL-ALT-T would be dangerously close to recalculate and could invite long and possibly bug causing delays.

True, we have so many hotkeys that finding a sensible new one is hard.

You got a point there. ^^

The thing I dislike about the new city screen is that you can't tell at a glance if you can build wonders in the city. You have to specifically click on the wonder button to find out.

Really? It should be greyed out if it is unbuildable...

If the "Look at Wonder Buildings" button is greyed out because there are no wonders available to be built then great. However I am not sure that is the case since I am sure I have clicked on it only to be presented with an empty screen of wonders.

You had to scroll the list down before. No less hidden imo.

I see. It doesn't take more time to click the wonder tab button than it took to scroll or click the wonder filter button in the old city screen though. There is also a keyboard hotkey to open and close the wonder tab: 'D'. ('A' for unit, and 'S' for regular buildings.)
You can also scroll through cities with the wonder tab open, it will refresh for the new city without closing and having to be opened again.

I'll ponder on how to make the tab button change based on its content though.

OK this is early in game where all the stuff I can build would appear on one screen. I just missed out on a wonder because I did not notice I could build it until 4 turns later.
I think he means the whole category option should be greyed out if there's nothing available there.
Yes that is what I was getting at.

I used to miss out on wonders all the time for failing to think of scrolling down far enough. To me it doesn't feel any different.

I agree it would be convenient if the option itself greyed out if there were no available wonders though.

It would only ever grey out in the capital city, or in other cities if a city is currently building the palace, since the palace is in the wonder tab.

I think I've noticed a bug though, the palace is not in the wonder tab for any cities in any of my saves, I'll look deeper into it...

Can be palace ignored in this situation?

Just saying this for reference but the entire use of this one tag for the palace is what is intended to make it possible for it to be constructed so as to change its location:
<iExtraPlayerInstances>1</iExtraPlayerInstances>
It creates a unique circumstance in the counting and validating and since there was some work on that recently, it would be easy to set this tag up wrong or fail to re-establish it as it needs to be setup. This is probably an easy fix if we look at the changes to the functions controlling maximum building counts. I can look into it myself later but I think the author of those changes will know what needs to be done to fix this right away.

It used to also be used for a world wonder, "The Tallest Building in the World". I don't think we have that one any more though. If I remember correctly when someone finished it was like other wonders in that if you were building it then it was canceled and you lost much of your investment but next turn you could start building a taller one to get the wonder.
