Update VIII - June 1, 1937 - July 1, 1937

Update number 8. Its a short one, as there was quite a bit of action. We start in Southeast Asia, where Vietnam starts to throw its weight around a bit, annexing Cambodia. This now sets up an epic battle between Siam and Vietnam. And by epic, I mean mildly interesting battle between two small countries.

130-Cambodia.png

Two countries dominated this update. The first was Italy. They took out Bavaria, getting rid of an irritant in their campaign to move into Germany. Now they just need to take out Switzerland and things will be good for them.

129-Bavaria.png

The other country that dominated? The USA of course. Who did you think it was going to be? El Salvador? They ended up taking out a few countries, starting with the Republic of Lakota, continuing with the Confederate States of America, and finishing with Texas. They attempted an assault on the Great Lakes Republic, but they continue to hold Chicago.

My pick for African winner finally does something. Morocco gets around to defeating Algeria, opening up access to the rest of coast for their forces to move eastwards into Tunisia and Libya and eventually Egypt. Assuming of course that Egypt doesn't just move west.

126-Algeria.png

Another victim of Italy is Flanders. The Italians are making their way into the Low Countries, so I would expect Wallonia and the Netherlands to be getting rather nervous now. Though outlasting Flanders is probably victory enough for Wallonia.

125-Flanders.png

Finally to Africa, where the South Africa offensive along the east coast failed, allowing Congo to swoop in and annex the East African Union.

123-EAF.png

Italy is now starting to take control in Europe. They have kicked the remaining Spanish out of France and now are advancing into Iberia itself. In addition, they are now making gains into the Low Countries, and have solidified their position in Germany. England is still drinking tea, and Scotland is drinking whatever they stereotypically drink in Scotland. Something unexpected in the Balkans, where its Romania, Romania everywhere. Thats mostly because the Russian assault to the southwest failed due to only having one division. Sweden has pushed the Russians to the north, as well as crossing through Aland and into Finland, while Estonia does another mini-expansion that will probably collapse in on itself like usual.

VIII-Europe.png

South Africa has been halted. I expect this to be just temporary until they can reorganize their forces again. And generally, the entire continent is still just a giant Benny Hill fast motion sketch.

VIII-Africa.png

India hasn't done much. The only real gains they seem to have made is into Uzbekistan a little bit. Though they have pushed Nepal and Bhutan back a bit. Russia is now deep into Transural, having surrounded their capital. Siberia continues to expand to the south, and it seems they are now starting to deal with Tannu Tuva. The Nationalists are having a mini rebound, though they are probably just spamming militia. Guangxi is getting big, cutting into the Japanese provinces in the south a bit. Vietnam is doing good in the south, but terribly in the north. The Philippines has landed in Korea, probably deciding that would be a much easier task than landing in Japan again. Finally, Australia hasn't done much new. Their division on Java seems to have vanished, while they have made gains in Sumatra and the Malay peninsula.

VIII-WestAsia.png

VIII-EastAsia.png

VIII-Oceania.png

South America is mostly just more of the same, but with Brazil starting to move into other countries now. Oh, and Bolivia doesn't seem to be doing so well.

VIII-SouthAmerica.png

Finally North America. Better known as the USA and a bunch of speed bumps.

VIII-NorthAmerica.png

Looks like the top players are emerging...

Italy, USA, India

Who's the grey in Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida? Looks like either Mexico or Cuba, can't remember the colors of either.

Its Cuba

Looks likely that the USA are going to win looking at the screenshots above. Italy are likely to have a few collapses particularly if England ever attack Scotland and are then free to invade France. India always seems to do well but we've never seen what happens when they reach a dominant Chinese power.

Update IX - July 1, 1937 - September 1, 1937

Blobs just keep growing in this one. The Americans march into Chicago and finish off the Great Lakes Republic, giving them full control of everything east of the Mississippi.

122-GreatLakes.png

Russia finishes off the Don Cossacks, as the Russians are starting to push to the south now.

121-DonCossacks.png

Some action finally happens in South America, where Brazil annexes Paraguay. And with the Argentinian-Brazilian border now a whole lot bigger, that can only be a good thing.

120-Paraguay.png

India completes a pair of annexations, Kyrgyzstan and Bhutan. I accidentally closed the message box for the Kyrgyzstan one. But regardless, India finally gets rid of Bhutan, and now just have to get rid of Nepal to be rid of the two countries that keep pestering them.

119-Kyrgyzstan.png

117-Bhutan.png

Italy also goes a bit crazy with the annexations, finishing off the FRG, Czechoslovakia, and Wallonia. With them gone, Italy now has a much stronger grip on central Europe, with just Switzerland and Austria causing them problems now.

118-FRG.png

115-Czech.png

114-Wallonia.png

Russia annexes the Transural Republic, opening up a clear route into Asia for them. Which might be a bad thing actually, considering this AI is terrible at sending lone divisions wandering off into the wilderness to get killed.

113-Transural.png

And finally, South Africa removes the last major roadblock stopping them from dominating south Africa, Rhodesia.

112-Rhodesia.png

Spain has bounced back and pushed Italy out of southern France, but Italy now controls Central Europe and has close to 500 IC, so no telling how this will turn out yet. England must be having an absolutely fantastic cup of tea. Deutsch Deutsch Revolution has been pushed eastward into Poland by the Italians, and the Swedish have pushed the Russians out of Finland. Egypt and Morocco have mostly split North Africa, and Turkey is now in danger of being overrun by Russians.

IX-Europe.png

West and Central Africa remain a mess, but Southern Africa is now united. Congo has reached all the way into Somalia, but that should get cut to pieces in the future. And Cameroon is looking to be in a relatively strong position now.

IX-Africa.png

The big orange blob continues to blob. Ceylon launched another suicidal landing in India, and Nepal certainly isn't going down easily. Japan has successfully invaded Korea, which is good since they have lost a lot of land to the Nationalist Chinese militia spam. Guangxi is now looking a lot weaker with the Nationalist resurgence. Vietnam and Siam are trading provinces, while Australia is now on the outskirts of Bangkok. Brunei has made its first departure from Borneo, taking Australian occupied Sumatra. Australia has made a new landing at Port Moresby, looking again to take over New Guinea.

IX-WestAsia.png

IX-EastAsia.png

IX-Oceania.png

Argentina has managed to encircle the Brazilian forces in Paraguay, while Venezuela has reached the Amazon. Still, not much else has changed. Terrain probably a big part of that with all the mountains and jungles.

IX-SouthAmerica.png

Omnomnom...

IX-NorthAmerica.png

I dunno, Spain seems to be making a comeback looks like they might be well positioned to retake much of Western Europe, and India's is being hilariously tied up by Nepal and Sri Lanka. I vote Nepal as most awesome country in this game BTW, they deserve some recognition.

Fantatstic fun to read :)

Update X - September 1, 1937 - November 1, 1937

After making repeated marches into Russian territory, little Estonia finally falls victim to the Russian bear. Now the other Baltic countries had better watch out, as the Russians are coming.

111-Estonia.png

With the assistance of Sarawak occupying Sumatra, the last Indonesian victory point falls, allowing Australia to annex its first opponent of the game, and now control half of the Southeast Asian archipelago.

110-Indonesia.png

India continues its march into Central Asia, annexing Turkmenistan. This now opens up a Russo-Indian frontier, which could lead to exciting things to in the future.

109-Turkmenistan.png

Finally in Europe Italy annexes Austria, getting rid of another smaller country to free up divisions to take care of the threat posed by Spain.

108-Austria.png

Spain continues its eastward march, taking most of France, and now marching into the Low Countries and Germany, as well as into Northern Italy. The Italians meanwhile have advanced into Poland, opening up a border with the Russians. Sweden has been stopped along the Finno-Russian border, while Russia continues to expand in every direction imaginable...except down, as that would just be silly. Egypt has occupied much of the Middle East. Outside of that, the Balkans and Middle East are still complete puzzles. And yes, still tea time in England.

X-Europe.png

South Africa's advance northward has slowed a bit, but they are making progress. Ethiopia, Liberia, and Cameroon continue to grow, and not much to say beyond that.

X-Africa.png

Nepal is still proving to be a bother for India. Russia is now moving in from the north, and considering the trouble India has had from Nepal, no telling how that will turn out. India hasn't moved much further west, but they have made it pretty far into Burma. Nationalist China continues to rebound from near defeat, taking back a large amount of land. Japan has landed on Taiwan, taking most of it back from the Philippines. Japan has also made a landing in Borneo, which is probably a good thing considering how badly their beachhead on the mainland is doing. Australia has taken a large amount of land around Port Moresby, but haven't done much else.

X-WestAsia.png

X-EastAsia.png

X-Oceania.png

Chile has attacked north into Bolivia, Brazil reconnected with their forces in Paraguay, and everyone else continues chasing each other in circles.

X-SouthAmerica.png

North America. Its blue.
