Update VIII - June 1, 1937 - July 1, 1937
Update number 8. Its a short one, as there was quite a bit of action. We start in Southeast Asia, where Vietnam starts to throw its weight around a bit, annexing Cambodia. This now sets up an epic battle between Siam and Vietnam. And by epic, I mean mildly interesting battle between two small countries.
Two countries dominated this update. The first was Italy. They took out Bavaria, getting rid of an irritant in their campaign to move into Germany. Now they just need to take out Switzerland and things will be good for them.
The other country that dominated? The USA of course. Who did you think it was going to be? El Salvador? They ended up taking out a few countries, starting with the Republic of Lakota, continuing with the Confederate States of America, and finishing with Texas. They attempted an assault on the Great Lakes Republic, but they continue to hold Chicago.
My pick for African winner finally does something. Morocco gets around to defeating Algeria, opening up access to the rest of coast for their forces to move eastwards into Tunisia and Libya and eventually Egypt. Assuming of course that Egypt doesn't just move west.
Another victim of Italy is Flanders. The Italians are making their way into the Low Countries, so I would expect Wallonia and the Netherlands to be getting rather nervous now. Though outlasting Flanders is probably victory enough for Wallonia.
Finally to Africa, where the South Africa offensive along the east coast failed, allowing Congo to swoop in and annex the East African Union.
Italy is now starting to take control in Europe. They have kicked the remaining Spanish out of France and now are advancing into Iberia itself. In addition, they are now making gains into the Low Countries, and have solidified their position in Germany. England is still drinking tea, and Scotland is drinking whatever they stereotypically drink in Scotland. Something unexpected in the Balkans, where its Romania, Romania everywhere. Thats mostly because the Russian assault to the southwest failed due to only having one division. Sweden has pushed the Russians to the north, as well as crossing through Aland and into Finland, while Estonia does another mini-expansion that will probably collapse in on itself like usual.
South Africa has been halted. I expect this to be just temporary until they can reorganize their forces again. And generally, the entire continent is still just a giant Benny Hill fast motion sketch.
India hasn't done much. The only real gains they seem to have made is into Uzbekistan a little bit. Though they have pushed Nepal and Bhutan back a bit. Russia is now deep into Transural, having surrounded their capital. Siberia continues to expand to the south, and it seems they are now starting to deal with Tannu Tuva. The Nationalists are having a mini rebound, though they are probably just spamming militia. Guangxi is getting big, cutting into the Japanese provinces in the south a bit. Vietnam is doing good in the south, but terribly in the north. The Philippines has landed in Korea, probably deciding that would be a much easier task than landing in Japan again. Finally, Australia hasn't done much new. Their division on Java seems to have vanished, while they have made gains in Sumatra and the Malay peninsula.
South America is mostly just more of the same, but with Brazil starting to move into other countries now. Oh, and Bolivia doesn't seem to be doing so well.
Finally North America. Better known as the USA and a bunch of speed bumps.
