Ultimate Showdown 2.0: Now With More Showdowniness - Handsoff HoI2 AAR

Well, Nepal is mountainous, very hard to attack esp if it has mountain divisions.

I would still have expected India to overwhelm them by now although I like neat empires.

Update XIV - June 1, 1938 - August 1, 1938

My saving of the game at the end of the last update was too quick for India, so they had to wait until this update before they could annex Oman.

No real surprise seeing that Sudan finally got annexed by its bigger neighbours. Egypt takes all the land along the Nile, while Cameroon gets the western deserts. Seems fair to me.

India is finally getting its act together and taking on the Himalayan countries, annexing Tibet. But yet again, Nepal is still their.

Some rare South America action, as Venezuela is defeated by the Colombians. And that is about all the South America action for the rest of this update.

Egypt gets annexed, but not by who you might have expected. The Saudis somehow wound up in North Africa. And with India controlling the Arabian peninsula, I will have to refer to them from now on as Saudi Egyptia.

After a little island hopping up in Alaska, the US officially annexes Cascadia, who were really already defeated long ago anyway.

The last of the Caucausian countries falls, with India defeating Armenia. The region is now a full battlefield for the Indians and Russians.

The Nationalists continue their work of reuniting China, defeating Manchukuo. Now only 3 warlords remain.

Italy finally makes it all the way down to Athens. One less front for them to worry about, and can concentrate on the big threats up north.

Finally, say goodbye to Xibei San Ma. With that, only Sinkiang and Guangxi remain among the warlords.

Things in Europe are going badly for the Italians, despite their victory over Greece. The Russians and Spanish have broken their lines in the east, and are now advancing into the Balkans. Spain and Russia have yet to really challenge each other. Sweden has folded under the Russian invasion from the north. Once Malmo falls, Sweden will be annexed. India continues to advance into the Middle East, while the Saudis and Moroccans battle it out in the Libyan desert. Still nothing from England.

South Africa got into Somalia, but they have been cut off by Ethiopia. Everyone else has remained relatively static, except for that Ethiopian arm reaching into central Africa.

India continues to gobble up western Asia, however the Russians have started to advance in Central Asia. East Asia is a bit more exciting, with the Nationalists growing larger each day. Japan continues to hold onto its possessions in southern China and Primorsk/Machuria, but its only a matter of time until the Chinese take over. India is now launching a full invasion of southeast Asia, with some forces reaching all the way down to the Malaysian peninsula. Australia has mostly fought off the Japanese landing in the north, and for a while came close to kicking them out of New Guinea as well. But the Japanese have bounced back there. Though they seem to have abandoned Borneo.

South America. Not very exciting.

The United Omnomnom of America's attack seems to have been halted by mighty...Guatemala.

And for the curious, IC leaders

USA 814/479
Republican Spain 686/403
India 649/361
Russia 621/355
Japan 328/193
Italy 321/174
Nationalist China 301/186
South Africa 199/117

Who is that third country in New-Guinea?

I know you mentioned something earlier in the thread however I'm curious, if England are forced to attack can they break through? Wondering if the Scottish stack plus the terrain is enough to hold off the English or if it would actually be an easy victory and its the AI being stupid / having the wrong leaders assigned and no HQs.

I tried, and they couldn't break through. Part of the problem being they have no actual leaders, since its England, not the UK.

Ah that would help explain it as its a narrow attack route. Do the other nations have leaders as I assume they do although for the continental nations it would be less of an issue as there would be multiple attack routes.

Only the custom made countries don't have leaders. Everyone else has whatever leaders are in the default game files.

Then don't the custom made countries have a huge disadvantage?

Huge is probably overplaying it but it explains why England are struggling quite as much and might also explain how the USA were able to conquer America after looking nearly dead at one point. I wonder if its possible to clone an average set of leaders for the countries that don't have leaders if there was to be another version.

In the Ultimate Showdown 3.0, Luxembourg, Nepal, and all those absolutely tiny countries should get 10 five-skill field marshalls or something :D
