Another dramatic comeback by the US - but can they sustain it?

Update IV - August 1, 1936 - November 1, 1936

To start the fourth update, New England finishes off Quebec, who actually could have annexed them at the end of the last update, but weren't quick enough to beat me to saving the game and exiting.

149-Quebec.png

Poland is finally defeated, with Deutsch Deutsch Revolution finding time to actually conquer Warsaw, the last Polish victory point. And so it officially puts an end to the Polish hopes of a repeat victory.

148-Poland.png

Latvia goes conquering, taking a large part of Finland. They also took Vaasa, which was the last Finnish province needed to be conquered in order for Russia to annex Finland, which is what they did.

147-Finland.png

The Middle East stalemate looks to be coming to an end. With Israel and Palestine not doing much, Lebanon swoops in and captures Tel Aviv.

146-Israel.png

Annexing Quebec wasn't enough to save New England, as USA finishes them off, meaning the US has one less front to worry about. And lots more IC.

145-NewEngland.png

With Natinoalist China blobbing up nicely, Mengkukuo falls. And really, its only a matter of time before they finish off the other warlords.

144-Mengkukuo.png

Russia takes Narvik, meaning Sweden can annex Norway. Now they just have to worry about the Russians in the north.

143-Norway.png

Finally, the Italian Social Republic completes its collapse, being annexed by Italy. With RSI out of the way, the Italians have removed their major obstacle to Europe.

142-RSI.png

England still refuses to attack Scotland, despite increasingly bigger armies available to them. After rebounding nicely, the French collapsed once again, with Flanders taking the coast and Vichy retaking a large part of the country. Portugal also couldn't hold on, losing a lot of ground to Republic Spain, who have also pushed the Nationalists back to only Bilbao. Italy is running wild now that the RSI is out. FRG, Denmark, and Deutsch Deutsch Revolution continue to fight over Germany, while with Poland gone, Ukraine has blobbed up, but don't really have an army big enough to defend it. The Balkans is still a mess, and Estonia seems to be marching on Moscow. Middle East and North Africa also seems rather...confusing.

IV-Europe.png

In Africa, Ethiopia seems to be bouncing back nicely. South Africa is still fighting its way back, while Congo is just barely holding on. Ghana has taken a lot of land in the West, and Benin-Sahel has been forced back into two provinces.

IV-Africa.png

In Asia, India is still having trouble dislodging Nepal from its lands in the east. Iraq has marched across southern Persia, and is facing off with the Indian army. The Central Asian countries continue to make a mess of the map. Nationalist China is starting to blob, with most of the warlords nearly defeated. None of the southeastern countries are really doing all that well. Japan has landed around Hainan, while Korea tries to fight off Manchukuo's invasion. While Australia tries to conquer Sulawesi from Indonesia, Indonesia tries to conquer the northern coast. New Zealand still holds onto the South Island, but its not looking good for them. New Guinea has mostly just been island hopping the archipelagos to the north.

IV-WestAsia.png

IV-EastAsia.png

IV-Oceania.png

Chile has taken Patagonia from Argentina, but they have fairly good defenses on their remaining territory. Guyana is expanding nicely in the north, while Colombia has been forced back to its capital. Brazil has yet to really assert themselves on their neighbours, and Paraguay appears to be led by Zombie Francisco Solano Lopez who ate the brain of someone competent. Yeah, thats right, War of the Triple Alliance reference.

IV-SouthAmerica.png

Finally, North America. The USA is doing pretty good. Most of the other powers there are in complete disorganization. Deseret only has Utah, Great Lakes is still holding on somewhat, but the CSA is in a very bad position. Lakota is losing a ton of land, while Canada probably won't be around much longer. California seems to be the stongest on the coast, with Cascadia really not doing much. Mexico and Texas aren't doing so good either.

Update V - November 1, 1936 - January 1, 1937

Somewhat small update, as only two countries were annexed. The first one was Afghanistan, who got absorbed by India, who is marching onward to a big orange blob.

141-Afghanistan.png

The only other country defeated was Namibia, falling to a resurgent South Africa.

140-Namibia.png

Still no action from England. I'm curious as to why, as they have a huge numerical advantage. Portugal has been kicked off the continent, and they still hold The Azores, so they can't be annexed yet. Nationalist Spain is trying to reestablish itself, but the Republicans seem much stronger. Vichy has collapsed, while France is taking back the north. Italy lacks the strength to totally overwhelm their neighbours, but that could change as more divisions get deployed. Denmark has taken a large portion of Germany, while FRG is just holding on. Flanders and Wallonia are both still around, which is surprising for me. Deutsch Deutsch Revolution has bounced back a bit and take western Poland, as well as much of the Czech Republic. In the Balkans, the Bulgarians are currently "winning", but no telling how long that will last. Ukraine has lost lots of land in the west, but has made up for it by expanding east, as well as northwards. Russia is now starting to deploy in large numbers, so they could start expanding like crazy. In North Africa, Algeria has been pushed back to the area around Algiers, while Tunisia has more or less lost Libya to the Egyptians.

V-Europe.png

Liberia is starting to look like a good bet in West Africa, as all of its neighbours have been divided and have smaller armies. Somalia has completely collapsed against the Ethiopians, which has also allowed a resurgence from the East African Union. Angola, Congo, and Gabon aren't in a good position. South Africa is now starting to live up to expectations, and will start moving northwards now.

V-Africa.png

In Asia, India is starting to blob up, and should provide a nice counter balance to the Nationalist blob forming to the east. Siberia got itself cut in two by Kazakhstan. Iraq doesn't look like it will hold off the Indians. Central Asia is starting to neaten up again. Nepal and Bhutan have been forced back, while Tibet is losing land. Some of the Chinese warlords have bounced back some, with Shanxi cutting off the Chinese forces in the north. Guangxi and a Japanese landing are causing trouble for the Nationalists in the south. The Philippines landed in Korea, which is already divided between Korea and Manchukuo, who is losing a lot of ground to the Nationalists and Primorsk. Vietnam appears to be gaining the upper hand in the southeast, but its still a mess. Australia has repelled the Indonesian invasion, and besides that, not much else has happened in Oceania.

V-WestAsia.png

V-EastAsia.png

V-Oceania.png

Brazil appears to have deployed a large amount of divisions, and could start taking back its land. Paraguay has lost a lot of land it had in the last update, while Argentina seems to have pushed the Chileans back a bit. Bolivia is barely hanging on after Peru invaded. Venezuela seems to be faltering, while Colombia is slowly getting back into it.

V-SouthAmerica.png

Finally, North America. California got a large number of its divisions cut off by Deseret. USA is slowly consolidating the eastern seaboard. Canada and Texas are barely hanging on, while Great Lakes Republic is in a bad position. The CSA is holding on, but really its only a matter of time before the USA steamrolls them and the rest of the continent.

I was following this on the Paradox forums, good stuff. :D

Update VI - January 1, 1937 - April 1, 1937

To start the new year, South Africa continues to kick into gear, capturing Mozambique's

capital and annexing them. With three capitals and their IC under their control, its

only a matter of time before they start steamrolling the rest of the continent.

139Mozambique.png

Republican Spain finishes off the Nationalists, and I accidentally closed the dialogue

window before I could get a screenshot of it. From this point on I shall refer to them

as just Spain.

138NationalistSpain.png

Back to Africa, where Ethiopia is also starting to get into shape, finishing off Somalia.

If they keep this up, there could be an epic showdown in the future between them and the

South Africans.

137Somalia.png

Finally Canada. Unfortunately my country can't hold off the overwhelming power of the

Americans. And so my home country is out of it.

136-Canada.png

Blobs are starting to form in Europe. Spain has taken Iberia, and are now deep into

France. Italy has pushed north into Germany, though their position is hardly solid

there. England is still being lazy, probably still tea time. The Balkan country are

still fighting with each other. Russia is starting to push outwards now that they have

been able to put their industry and manpower to use. Ukraine has way too much land to

defend with too few divisions. Deutsch Deutsch Revolution and FRG keep expanding and

collapsing. Egypt is now into Tunisia, while Morocco and Algeria continue to fight it

out around Algiers.

VI-Europe.png

In Africa, three countries are starting to take the lead. South Africa is now dominating

in the south, with Rhodesia getting close to defeat. Ethiopia has a good position, but

the lack of divisions is hurting them. Egypt is now advancing from the north, and should

prove a challenge to the Ethiopians. Liberia is still dominating West Africa, and

Cameroon appears to be the frontrunner in Central Africa.

VI-Africa.png

In Asia, the Saudis have pushed back the Omani invasion, but it doesn't possess much of

an army to launch a counter invasion. India continues to blob, but are having a

difficult time with Nepal still. Iraq, Iran, and Central Asia are getting pushed back by

the Indian invasion. Nationalist China continues its collapse, with resurgent warlords

taking back a lot of land. The Japanese landing on the south continues to go well, and

they have established a solid beachhead there. Siam is slowly taking back their land,

while Vietnam is trying to ruin Japan's plans. Australia is getting aggressive, making

landings in New Guinea, Brunei, and on Java, but they have yet to finish any of their

neighbours off.

VI-WestAsia.png

VI-EastAsia.png

VI-Oceania.png

The Brazilian juggernaut is now starting to flex its muscles, now moving into the Amazon

in the north and are advancing into Argentina in the south. Argentina have been pushed

back to the area around Buenos Aires, but are far from defeated. Ecuador and Chile have

been doing pretty good, but like the rest of the countries are hardly in a strong

position.

VI-SouthAmerica.png

Finally, North America, which at this point is really just a formality as the Americans

simply crush all of the smaller countries. Great Lakes, CSA, Texas, Deseret, and

California are all doing pretty badly, while Cascadia is still looking alright, mostly

because everyone ignores them. Mexico took a bunch of land, but don't have the army to

defend it.

Update VII - April 1, 1937 - June 1, 1937

To start this update, finally someone in South America is eliminated. Venezuela and Brazil have split Guyana between them. Of course, Venezuela gets the valuable IC provinces while Brazil gets loads of empty jungle. Cause if theres something Brazil is in desperate need of, its loads more of empty jungle.

135-Guyana.png

The Spanish conquistadors continue their assault into Europe, taking out both Vichy and non-Vichy France is the course of a month. It didn't actually happen in order, as someone else was annexed in between them, but its just easier to group them together.

134-Vichy.png

132-France.png

To the other orange blob, India, where they continue their western march taking out Persia. And now the road to the Middle East is wide open to the Indians who seem to enjoy fighting to the west more than to the east.

133-Persia.png

Finally, one more orange country annexes someone. This time its Hungary annexing Slovakia, who fought off its more powerful neighbours for quite a while before falling.

131-Slovakia.png

Spain has suffered a real setback, with Italian forces breaking through their lines in the south and overwhelming France. But what do you expect when your lines consist of one militia. Italy is just all over the place, holding large portions of France, Germany, and a stretch of land into the Balkans. England is still enjoying tea time along the Scottish border, which has lasted a long time now. The Russian bear is starting to awaken, having more or less crushed Don Cossacks and Ukraine now. The Balkans is still a mess, and will continue to do so until one of the big countries sweeps in and takes care of it. Egypt has made it all the way to Algeria, but Tunisia will probably cut that in half. Finally, the Middle East is still a relative standstill.

VII-Europe.png

South Africa continues its steamroller impression, with some of their forces reaching Kenya. Not much else has cleared up in Africa, with Ethiopia losing Somalia and Liberia struggling to make any new gains. As far as the rest of the continent, its basically just everyone chasing each other in circles in fast motion while Yakkety Sax plays.

VII-Africa.png

The big orange blob continues its dominance of western Asia while still having trouble with little Nepal. Siberia has reconnected their conquests in Central Asia with their homeland, while Transural now has a problem as the Russians are heading in their direction. Oman and the Saudis appear to be taking a break, and Iraq must be panicing at what is heading towards them from the east. Nationalist China's collapse is just about complete, with Japan taking the entire coast from Vietnam to just outside Shanghai, Guangxi dominating the south-central region, and Shanxi and the Communists taking over the north. They might not last much longer. The Philippines landed in Japan, but that won't last long. Tannu Tuva has created a snaking maroon blob through Siberia, and most other countries are not doing good. Vietnam is starting to strengthen their position in the southeast. Australia continues its dominance of the islands. They are strengthening their position in Borneo, have taken most of Java, and landed in Sumatra and Singapore. Though New Guinea has almost kicked the Aussies out.

VII-WestAsia.png

VII-EastAsia.png

VII-Oceania.png

Besides Guyana, not much has changed in South America, so not much to say.

VII-SouthAmerica.png

Finally, North America, where the USA is in complete control. Great Lakes is just fortifying Chicago, the Confederates hold just a few provinces in the south, Texas is practically finished, and Lakota is pushed back to Dakota and a few small territories. California and Cascadia still control large parts of the west, but thats just until the Americans show up.

VII-NorthAmerica.png

Finally armed forces. I expect the battleships to start showing up soon, and maybe a carrier in the next few months.
