UNGY-04 Who do they think they are?

I wouldn't mind if someone wrapped up the game either, I avoid these endings like the plague.

I'm definitely up for UNGY-05.

I'll probabely play a bit this weekend, doubt I'll have time before. I'll definitely post a "Playing now" before playing to avoid "cross-playing".

Count me in in UNGY-05 (tough we might want to change our ingame nick :p).

Ideas?

Anything + Deity...

We have tried most reasonnable restrictions (I know of) on Immortal and didn't have much problems. Probabely small restrictions + strong leader on Deity?

Ungy#5 (let's not confuse the glance screen again): The Immortal Cowboy featuring Genghis Khan (and no farms).

[lurker comment] Ungy 05 please! I've followed this with great interest, it's been very entertaining and helpful! [/lurker]

I had some free so I decided to finish this game.

Nothing really interesting.

WK starts to increase his culture slider. I can see he will research communism in 52 turns or so.
Amassing our gigantic SOD into transports and landing near Pyongyang.

We were attacked by a few forces, but none of them were artillery. Just a scratch.
WK is really scared of us now. He agrees to capitulate already.

Civ4ScreenShot0066-1.jpg

I refuse. We need to take Seoul first to ensure he doesn't get cultural victory.

I want to get the victory fast, so I attack Seoul with Tanks only, not waiting for the artillery to remove it's legendary 100% defence bonus. We lost quite a lot of tanks, but it doesn't matter much.
After capturing Seoul I accept capitulation and give oil to WK (now he can have tanks).

Napoleon's army is weak, only 3~4 infantry in every city and no attack force.
So he dies in a few turns. In the mean time I prepare to attack Shaka and take 1 city, some ex-French cities get out of revolt to get this message:

I can't upload a save at the moment but I will do it later.

Thanks to everyone for a good game.

See you in Ungy-05 (let's call it Ungy+05 so we'll think everyone loves us in the glance screen :))

I'm not surprised Wang capitulated as soon as he saw the size of our Stack. That man really does need therapy.
Bit surprised the Napoleon hadn't built up a decent army (but not complaining).
Thanks for finishing it off.

Would have had time now to finish it but not complaining, thanks silverbullet.

Great game everyone. First it didn't look that easy with no real trading partner and no GP, we might have been stuck in the stone age forever but we didn't. With an unusual strategy we finished off our competitors easily. Thanks all for the enjoyable game :D

Nice game all! Good finish Silverbullet!

I have to say when I saw the lay of the land I thought we had an uphill battle--we had a lot of city sites but only a few that I would say were very good--not a whole lot of food.
The rest of the world was really strangely backward, and that opened the door for us to stay in the tech game--and late game getting to the island+the size of our land really shone.

I was pretty impressed with how strong our kremlin/rushbuy/SP economy was--that's not something I've done before but I'll keep it in mind.

I'm game for another game--I can't say I've got compelling ideas.

We could try: no cottages+no lightbulbing.

Or no tech trading--not the AI, just us.

Anybody got any ideas?

I am curious about limiting the number of cities we can have. Something like OCC but without the OCC mod.
Do you think it is possible to win Immortal with 3 cities only?
We will not be allowed to keep more than 3 cities.

I'd like the idea of an "alternative" victory condition (culture) which is quite rarely persued (tough I really enjoyed all my culture games). This would fit well with the 3CC limitation tough we won't be able to build most national wonders... We also could avoid trading tough it's not that important in a culture game.

Saladin?

Culture seems difficult to do with 3CC to me. Maybe if you get sushi and vassals that give you a lot of sushi resources to increase culture, AND you manage to get radio wonders.

Diplomatic and conquest should be possible with 3CC. Maybe even domination if vassals' land is large enough.

I was thinking an industrious leader may be important in a 3CC game

Very winnable, but ungy played a similar SG recently (restricting cities+some other stuff -- also on immortal) so I can imagine him not being that into it. This would be much harder though.

very winnable by you or by a team?

The game I played recently was not too restrictive--we were allowed to build 6 cities and capture 6 (there were other restrictions as well). Game was never in doubt.

I'm happy to try a 3CC--I would assume at immortal that is only winnable via culture or diplo?

What about trying culture but having PA checked with them (and probabely diplo win) as plan B...

I find culture to be incredibly boring, but I'm willing to let the majority decide. A late game cultural with corps and radio wonders I could like, but I really hate the ("optimised") regular cheese with liberalism -> increase slider and waiting -- it bores me to death. I'd prefer a UN beeline and I think this is the best path too.

PA is stupid, I'd rather lose the game than winning thanks to that option. If we're going to easen up the settings we might as well play Huayna Capac and capture 2 AI capitals or only pick AIs that are going to love us (diplomatic).

PS -- an AP win might be the easiest. We'll have more control over who has votes and we can sit with a fair bit of them ourselves.

No farms remains an unpopular option.

Played in a six city SG on monarch, ended up a fairly easy conquest victory. Three cities on immortal could be similar (but obviously more difficult).

Religious victory sounds an interesting option with limited cities (though possibly open to cheesy exploits). Would help to have stone around (and Egypt or Arabia for early prophets).

I don't like the AP-win :p

I wouldn't mind a Cowboy Khan game tough... But what about a map with a little more sea than the average continents map (tough not archipelago). I'm not really familiar with the different map script (90% of my games are on Fractal) but I'd like that. Seafood would make it a bit easier tough it limits warring...

Another option would be a game on Terra for a change. I find it an interesting map that allows other approaches than just standard beeline for <insert military tech> and capture a few AIs. Raging barbs would be fun :hammer:

Culture may be easy if you have a good land (grassland river) for cottage spam, but it might get difficult if the terrain is not as nice (such as current Gliese's deity game).

Do you think a conquest or domination win is possible under these settings?
I am curious to examine the usefulness of vassals. If we get an early production/technology advantage we could vassals someone close, and then use them as allies in other wars.
Or maybe that is not possible because they will break free once they have more land/population than us?

I don't really like no farms, especially after last game.
I would rather have city or diplomacy restrictions than basic improvement limitations, although I would play the game if that's what everyone else wants.
I can't think of any interesting variation at the moment.
