We are down to the top 10 (and I'm bored before lunch), so I will vote today:

Minutemen are the best. from the mid game to the end, I get melee units which ignore terrain movement penalties and have +1 sight! This is especially great as the get xp and upgrades to become Mechanized Infantry which attack multiple times each turn.

I am taking the Janissary down a notch. It is a good unit, but not as good as the Minuteman. They will be even less appealing after the patch when any unit can heal by pillaging and their unique power becomes less unique.

I've previously taken points off the CKN for confusing the UU with the UA, now I shall do the same for the SoTL. The civ gets synergy points, but this is a UU elimination thread. It's great, but what's the difference between England with frigates? They still take just as long to get to logistics, and are more powerful but not game breaking in cs difference. If I were England, I'd prefer to get the logistics early with dromons.

Keshik. I've up voted them before. Doing it again. Cos it's the best UU.

Janissary same as before...Longbowman bc the additional range becomes ridiculous when upgrade, makes it boring to use in later stages.

Carolean 20 (-3) Its the least game changing of the UUs left in my opinion. March + Medic is nice for sure - but its a rifle replacement and that lineage loses a lot of its luster very soon

Horse Archer 6 (+1) Its a super cheap super powerful unit. Doesn't take long to make these and they can compete effectively up until the early stages of enemies with crossbows. In multiplayer these things are just deadly.

Sea Begger: Worse than the Dromon, privateers work just as well. Give me the Ship of the Line over the Sea Beggar any day.

Minuteman: great synergy with the UA, also good when you need to rush buy because of the first line promotion. And free movement during war is insanely OP, even if only in rough terrain. First to Little Round Top, anyone?

lbm: powerful UU, also involves very interesting tactics.

keshik: not bad, just doesn't deserve 40 points, I think. Its ranged combat is weaker than crossbow and it loses almost all promotions when upgraded into cavalry.

Horse Archer 7 (+1) Insanely powerful during its era, as it should be. Easy to get 2 hits, 3 range, move after attacking. Nothing can stand in its way. Poor upgrades be damned, these guys staright up end games.

Sea Beggar 8 (-3) The worst UU left. Sorry buddy, you're great, but you don't get anything special. You're a privateer with 2 free upgrades. Privateers < Frigates.

+1 Longbow - +1 range to start makes this unit an offensive power against the AI.
-3 Sea Beggar - A nicely promoted privateer. Not as useful as anything else on the list.

Down - Early supporter of the Sea Beggar. Unique and fun to play due to early supply promotion, but hard to find a weaker unit on the list. It made the top 10. Good enough pig, good enough.

Up - Having a main force of SoL trumps a main force of Beggars. Lack of iron makes it a close call, but domination happens with SoL, and having them around to upgrade to Battleships is powerful.

Ship of the Line 31 Tremendously strong, in combination with naval melee units, in its time, it's the equivalent of a GDR in future.

Longbowman : Can defend well against ship invasions. Good synergy with the GW(can delay Dynamite in some occasions)

Horse Archer : They are good in sp i agree but in mp they are average. Quick speed make them obsolete faster and can't keep their promos when upgraded to Knights. They also only have 7 :c5strength: to defend themselves(3 CBs can kill in 1 turn one of these guys)

Chu-Ko-Nu: it is awesome. Although it is a bit weaker, when it is upgraded it becomes a normal-strenghtened demon. These guys rule, even more in comparison to Longbowman. I agree, LB is great, but the line of sight is usually a problem

Minutemen: Hmm... it is a tough choice. For starters, I preffer ship units. Just my personal opinion. Second, I agree that this unit rules and that the no movement cost is nice, but I find it worse than the other abillities. It deserves to be in the top 10 for sure, but, IMO, not in the Top 5. It is nice that it is carried on upgrades, but, comparing to the other musket replacement, these guys are much worse than the Janissary. What do I choose: bonus on attacking and heals completely (I'm talking about before the patch) upon killing an enemy or no movement penalties? For me, it is the first option.

The Chu Ko Nu because it has blitz and it's new upgrade path is great

The horse archer because it goes obsolete to fast and has a bad upgrade path.

Jesus, pillaging heals 25HP? Man this single handedly made me interested in the new patch. I thought I finally got over CiV but it looks like I'm back again. Some of the patches looks game changing.

As for the thread, going just as expected. I'm still in the CKN camp since +1 attack > +1 range due to quicker promotion and just more damage. The +1 range gets wonky when just one hill/forest/jungle tile could negate the bonus.

Ship of the line is good... but compared to the UUs now which all offer something ridiculously special to their original unit, it isn't that particular good.

Regardless of the pillage thing that will be implemented, I still like Caroleans. In fact, with the pillage thing, they will probably become nearly invincible.
