Unit Previews: Pikemen

ok, thanks, I'll go with the biege, but I don't like how he has no colour at all so I'm goint to find a way to add some colour. (I like colour :D)

would red markings on his skin (war paint) be realistic?

The aboriginees do paint various designs on their bodies for certain significant events. The designs are usually geometric, spirals, animal figures and handprints. The colors they used were derived from different types of soil, for the most part, and include white clay, charcoal, and both red and yellow ochres. They also paint similar designs at sacred spots or on significant personal belongings, so you could have maybe a red spiral or representation of the dream snake (one of the most sacred spirits in aboriginee religion) painted on the armor if you want to add some color.

thanks for the info HT :)
I went ahead and made some red markings on his arms, legs, and face and it doesn't look too bad, they're straight lines, but it's pretty much just a blob at civscale so it's up to interpretation :)

FANCY ATTACHEMENT DELETED

FYI I've started rendering, so i can't change anything now :p (without redoing it)

Although, I have changed some things from the previous post, more war paint , blue band around hat, new texture for ankle guards, and he's larger :)

Ehh.. .I'd take the markings off. You can't see 'em in civ scale and at Pedia scale I don' think they look vey atrtactive at all.

I added them 'cause I think he didn't look very "aboriginal" at all, also, I've made them so it's possible to see them at civscale :)

:shakehead
I think you're thinking of poser, currently, I don't have a bare upper-body model, that means I'd have to model one, and organic shapes are harder to make than say, a cube.
also the hair I used was just a deformed cylinder duplicated a gazillion times and I'd have to add more, to make a long story short, I doubt I could fit everything in under ofx's limit without doing somwthing like thin his hair, which'd look wierd

EDIT: oh, and I'd have to model a loincloth

Now, to the Tupi Spearman! :D

How hard would that be? If too hard, what file formats can OpenFX use, so that I can search for some models for you? :)

No worries :)
I'm going to be modelling a muscular upperbody for the tupi spearman so I can just reuse that for the koori guy if/when I do him.
