*** Unit Request Thread #2 ***

Yeah I know, but its a old design. Think some peeps can make the unit alot better (Ripptide 4 example...)

Well let me post my request here too, a Caravan unit with some sort of animation that can be used to settle. Im imagining a lone camel with some stuff on its back and a trader pushing him, or two camels with traders riding them. A horse or donkey version would also be nice, and even a Lama one for the american civs ;)

The idea is to have certeain buildings or wonders auto produce these units.

Dingy (like the one behind the guy in this photo http://www.specialoperations.com/Navy/SEALs/sealcrrcbeach.jpg)
Hovercraft (like this one http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/images/NAVY_LCAC_lg.jpg)
WWI Machine Gun (example http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/7b/Vickers_machine_gun_crew_with_gas_masks.jpg)
Modern Machine Gun (like an m240)
Nuclear Artillery (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:VWM240mmAtomicAnnie01.jpg) (will be single use)
Biological Artillery (WWI style artillery with like an anthrax cloud for explosion) (will be single use)
Chemical Artillery (WWI style artillery with a mustard gas cloud for explosion) (will be single use)
WWI Flamethrower (http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/flamethrower-ww1-battle.jpg)
Modern Flamethrower (this may be mounted on a boat, but it a good example http://vietnamresearch.com/flame/info/flamethrower-boat.jpg)
WWI Armored Infantry (Some guy in a basically a complete iron shell)
Blackbird (http://library.thinkquest.org/03oct/00181/sr-71.bmp)
WWII Long Range Artillery (http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ground/images/m2-155.jpg)
WWII Armored Cars (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Rhino_%28AWM_127718).jpg)

That's a Zodiac, not a dingy

WWI Machine Gun
Modern Machine Gun (like an m240)

Do you mean a Machine Gun team, or just the gun?

Nuclear Artillery

That looks like it's just a railgun with nuclear ammo, try this.

Biological Artillery (WWI style artillery with like an anthrax cloud for explosion) (will be single use)
Chemical Artillery (WWI style artillery with a mustard gas cloud for explosion) (will be single use)

For this, you'd best use a regular artillery piece as a carrier. Mod the piece to transport aircraft under 'Unit Abilities'. Then use something as a gas/bio artillery shell 'unit' like this one, and make it a cruise missle under 'Unit Abilities'. But then replace the death animation with this one from a 'Gas Spell' unit.

WWII Long Range Artillery
WWII Armored Cars

You should be in luck here. Wyrmshadow just uploaded a couple of million (give or take) new WWII units. I haven't had the time to go through them all yet, but you should find some things you like there. And if not, PM him and ask if he plans on coming out with what you're looking for.

Overall, definately check the Unit Library, I'm sure you'll find things you can use.

It may be a zodiac, but I still failed to find one I liked.

I could not find a transport hovercraft in the unit library.

A Machine Gun team. I could not find any in the unit library.

I am a little afraid of using the rail gun, because it won't have an explosion on the tip of it. But I guess it will do.

I never actually thought of doing what you just said with the artillery, thank you.

The only flamethrowers I could find were WWII style flamethrowers.

I saw a bunch of requests for blackbird, but I could not find the actual unit.

I guess I could the rail gun for the long range artillery, since I did not find any WWII style long range artillery besides that, and the closest thing I found to an armored car, besides the Russo-Balt, were a bunch of half-tracks.

I've been looking through the unit library, but I could not find exactly what I wanted for most of these things.

I also want to request WWI style recon planes. I found a bunch of fights, but none of those fighters were also used for recon.

This may help
Central Powers - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_military_aircraft_of_Central_Powers_in_WWI
Entente Powers - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_military_aircraft_of_Entente_Powers_in_WWI

Yeah, I've never seen anyone make a Zodiak or an LCAC. As for the MG team, I've only seen the official WWII versions, I don't know if anyone's made one yet.

For the aircraft, I don't know about the SR-71, but you can use any plane for recon in civ, all you have to do is modify things again. Just use the regular run animation for the recon one. It's essentially the same as a bombing run with no bombs. And if you're worried about not having the right type of plane (Sopwith Camel instead of a Sopwith Tabloid), there were a lot more similarities back then than differences - especially at civ scale. You could just use one for the other.

On the rail gun, you could the same to it as I suggested for the gas/bio attacks. Just use the Nuke animation from the game. But then the gun itself wouldn't be single use, just the shell.

And be sure to check Wyrmshadow's threads while you're going through things. He's got a huge variety.

To Continue with the requests, Seaplane Tenders and Balloon Carriers.

I did find a Zodiac, but I did not like it.

Yeah, I could do that, but the blackbird is just too cool.

The machine gun Aaglo made is another WWII style machine gun, and I already have one of those. It comes with the WWII unit pack in the game.

There is none called MG Team. There is an M2 Team, but as I just said that is another WWII style machine gun.

I've already looked in the unit library. If you do not believe me, I can screen shot my desktop on all the units I have already downloaded.

yes, your right... its just called an M2 Team, and how does it looks like a WWII MG Team???

I looks like one because it is one.

There are guns from World War One that the United States Army still uses, but that does not help. It also does not solve my other unit wants.
