but it is politically realistic, hes not trying to hide the truth from us, I commend you for not lying but I dont think the world of civilization is ready for child soldiers, nobody wants to feel like their killing innocent lives

Such a unit would be going down a dark street... it's one thing for it to attack you, it's another to be gunning them down!
I'm not saying good or bad idea... I'm "just sayin".
This coming from a guy who added Hitler and Swastikas to his own mod.

u added hitler and swastikas on ur own mod, well swastikas were takin from perfectly good reasons (I think it was like an eastern religiouse symbol), hitler did a lot for Germany, you cant say that hwta e did was irrational for the times (great deprssion, Germany was hit hard), but he went nuts and killed Jewish people, indirectly as far as Im aware (like gave the order), and the treaty of versailles (that ended world war one) I think it was resolution IV or resolution IX, but you will understand the begging of world war 2 a whole lot better, and true it would be a dark unwandered road, just keep it safe, its an unwandered road

Basically what I was saying, that I'm far from the most politically correct guy on the board... I have no problems with Hitler and Swastikas in a game... to me, that's just history... and while I know "children soldiers" are "just history" too, even for me, it's pushing a boundry...
Not that I would say nobody has a right to add them to their own mod... everyone should be able to do pretty much anything in a mod they want... if people don't like it, they just won't download it.
More power to you... but I wouldn't use it personally. Too creepy, even for me.

yah, its about time people face the facts that history isnt all daisise and flowers but some had to push up daisies to make a point, but still, everybody has their points that they can push, I don't think someone should push it right now without a bit of publicity and a good view internationasly, and do the best for it, like Oprah or similar figures

I just think those pics posted are just sad. A sad truth in life I personally wouldn't want to remake in a game.

That would probably be my take on it... it's the truth... but I wouldn't repeat it in a game.
If somebody else want's to do it... I'd say more power to them... but I wouldn't download it.

I seem to have stirred up a bit of debate on the morality of this issue and might have even offended some people, for that I am sorry. I suppose I should have made my case for it first.
In order to capture the magnitude and retain some measure of realism in the conflicts which I want to mod, namely the Second DRC war, the currently heating up civil war in the DRC, the civil war in Liberia and Sierra Leon, I could see no other way then to add such a 'unit.' It is well known that many of the armies involved in those conflicts widely used child soldiers and some even formed entire military units made up of them. I also want to add this 'unit' so that the player might gain a greater understanding of the truly brutal nature of the aforementioned conflicts.
Maybe the world is just not ready for a scenario that attempts to capture that depth of gritty realism.

you might be able too, just don't make it too gruesome, maybe make them couts and not warriors or whatever, just keep the morality issue in mind when creating the mod

Ark... I don't think anyone was offended (well, I for one was not)... the truth is the truth, and I'm generally not offended by someone bringing-up the truth, as gritty and sad as it may be.
War in and of itself is not pleasant or wonderful... the Civ games, for all their fun, do indeed represent a nasty reality of the human condition... war.
However, there are some "norms", which we as humans usually accept (and in some cases embrace) in the "honor" of war, or the "art of war"... however, we tend not to focus on the most tasteless aspects of war.
Grown Nazi soldiers (even with swastikas) fighting and dying on the field of battle is usually accepted in a game... however, you're generally not going to see a lot of mods with concentration camp crematoriums... that's just an aspect folks don't really care to focus on or recreate because it's distatefull to many (to say the least). That cruel fact may be true history in all it's grit, but folks probably don't want to repeat that in a game (true or not), which for all it's ups and downs, the game eventually is for the purpose of fun and entertainment... I think few people would consider concentration camps anywhere close to fun to think about.
I'd say children soldiers falls into the same group of things most folks would generally not like to see recreated. Yes it's true... yes it happens... yes, it's part of the human experience... but it's generally not something folks want to "have fun with" in a game.

A mod based on modern African warfare could be pretty interesting, but yeah some of the stuff going on in African wars is particularly horrific (and current), so yeah you'd probably be treading a pretty fine line with taste.
On the subject of Africa, what I do want to see is an Oromo on a horse (to use as a cuirassier). I can do the reskinning myself.

If i'm not mistaken, I believe Zerver released a pretty-good looking African Cuirassier unit. It's in the download section... I missed it several times, but finally noticed it... quite nice actually.

I know there's one unit in database that almost looks like those but it has way too big barrels (looks more like multi-barrel cannon).. so maybe someone could "fix" that model to look more like those 1800's gatling guns?
