Unit requests thread

hi! :yeah:

The latest thing I knew was that some bones were found, and were bigger than any others... I think they call it Seismosaur or Ultrasaur or something, but I've been out of touch with this for more than 10 years, so I have no idea.
I'd rather just have a simple Panzer-III.

I have done some early development on a Mad Max mod, set in post-apocalyptic Australia. I've drawn out all the resources, improvements, tech tree and units, and so far I have implemented the XML parts. There are some things I want for which I'll have to use python or SDK. But, I have no ability to do graphics beyond simple buttons.

One of the key points of Mad Max is fighting over ownership of fuel trucks. I have some mechanics in mind for this; but there is no existing unit model which looks like a fuel truck. I've looked through the mod database for this. It's quite possible there is something appropriate inside one of the WW2 mods, but I haven't unpacked all of them to look.

Does anybody know of a source for a fuel truck unit, or would anybody have any interest in making one?

Another key point is "punks in jeeps". There is a jeep unit in the mod database http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=206943 which works well for a WW2 jeep, but I'd like three variations: one with crossbow-wielding punks for the early game, shotgun or assault rifle-wielding punks for the mid game, and for the late game, the similar jeep but with punks on the mounted weapon.

Would anybody have any interest in putting punks in the jeep?

Hello, I´m searching for some modern russian infantrymen. I could need a Paratrooper, looking like this. http://www.sharecg.com/images/large/16965.jpg
And a Marine would be good, too. They can both use an AK47. The Paratrooper should get a barret an the marine a helmet for better differencing.

And that´s not a must but a new weapon for the paratrooper would be awesome. I thought about an AKSU 74 (http://www.military.cz/russia/weapons/guns/ak-47/aksu.jpg)
This rifle is much shorter than the AK47 which would make it much better fitting to a paratrooper in my opinion.

If You want for the marine i can do a reskin that You can use with Zerver units, based on spanish units... But he will wear a modern western helmet!

The western helmet would be ok, my german marine wears a wwii helmet. it´s very little so thats not the problem ;)

Oh as i´m talking about it. Would you change the helmet to the modern western model and give it a camo look (same as on the uniform "BW Flecktarn") if i send the files to you? Only if you have the time and will to do ;)

Sorry I'm only a little able to change the camo in an existing dds using paint shop and a dds converter as i've made for my italian, brazilian and australian units http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=6448741#post6448741 using the units of Zerver that already have kalshnikov (for those unit i'd prefer western rifles). I'd like to do such modding you told in a unit.

ok but which program do i need to convert the file to dds?

I use DDS Converter 2.1. I use it to convert DDS files to PNG format, modify said PNG in Paint Shop Pro, then re-convert back-into DDS format... it's how I've modified all the units I have in my sig-line...

Never once touched Nifskope or any of those 3D-ish tools (3D models frighten me... I must view everything in 2D).

Thank you Wolfshanze, I hope it will work.

Why not just use the nVidia DDS Photoshop plugin and save yourself the need for the middle man?
You're welcome to come to my house and set it up.

I labored for hours trying to get that plug-in to work with PSP7... to no avail.

Unless someone is willing to make it work on my system or show "the easy way" to do it, I have to use an extra program... I can't get my PSP7 to work with that plug-in... tried it for hours... no dice.

My bad, I was reading "Photoshop" when you said "Paint Shop." I tried getting it to work with PSP to no avail as well. :(
No problem... I don't mind the extra step if I get to use Paint Shop Pro... I can't stand other paint programs, and I'm very comfortable with PSP.

The plug-in works great on my photoshop. :p Although, mine is a lot newer version than 7.
Just how many times do I have to mention Paint Shop Pro in this thread for people to realize I'm not talking about Photoshop?!?!? :trouble:

Hello, there´s another request for units.

I could need a french paratrooper and marine, too. I allready have a unit, that uses the marines.kfm but looks like the unit I want to use as paratrooper. A picture is in the attached files
Then for the marine, i need this unit with a helmet for better differencing. Could be the standard marine without the bags on back and front but with the same uniform texture. Should also carry a famas.

Is there anyone, who could do this? I think it would not be as much work as a new unit would cost. But unfortunately I am not able to do this on my own.

Well actually, you said PSP. That could easily stand for Photoshop. :p
