[UnitParts]CIV4-Heads

I just downloaded the swordsman's head, but the texture won't show up. I'm using NifSkope. All i see when i load the file are the blank head and shoulder meshes.

I can't find Swordsman_128.dds. Is it in one of the .fpk files?

ok so if i understand well i need to put the new head in nifviewer. But what should i do with the old one? Resize it - to make it tiny? How to make this in nifviewer - i couldnt find anything about it in tutorials (i find out how to scale everything not just only head).

Please help me - once again i'm loosing patience with nifviewer and once again it seems i can only switch weapons

Drag the new one onto the old head in the tree graph and resize the old one to make it tiny. If you want to know anything specific just ask and I'll see if I can help. I've managed to attach a few heads so far :D
However, I've been having a problem with some of the heads though, like sometimes when you apply the new head to a body, the head will flip sideways. I'm not very good at using the rotation matrix so I usually give up when this happens. Any ideas? Most heads are fine and stay the right way up when I attach them to the old head.

Ok i have problem with scalling the old head -> to make it tiny. Screenshot could be helpful :)

About flipping - i don't like those matrices and i prefere to rotate head (weapon, whatever) in 3dsmax (after importing it) - and than export it once again to .nif - it might be sometimes very annoying (as much as matrices are - i don't like math and i don't know how to use matrices) but usually it need to be rotated for example 180 or 90 degrees - so shortly i prefer to prepare head/weapon in 3dsmax so i don't need rotate this in nifviewer

Yes I did a lot of the rotating stuff in max for the Hirohito LH, because the Nif one was too frusturating.
Ok so with the heads, have you already attached the new head to the old one? If so, take a look at the screenshot for which ones to scale. Please note that scaling the above one will also scale the one below, which is why you will probably need to scale both :

The top one circled scales both heads, the one circled underneath only scales the new head.

as a rule. i do this to the scaling

1.0000 --->original setting

make it this: .00001 by deleting the one and then adding it to the end.

then, on your new head do this:

1.0000 ---> 10000

this actually works everytime.

A scale of 0.3 is usually sufficient imo and makes the orientation of the headattachment much easier than using such a big number. The headattachment can be scaled between 2,6 and 3,0 afterwards depending on the proportions of the main body.

Ok thank it seems it works now :)
I'm trying to combine the new knowledge with ability to change models in max :)
kodzi recently discovered that it's possible to change models without loosing animations with new plugin - so finaly annoying parts of unit can be deleted or moved - it's still experimental method for me, but promissing. I try to make modern prophet - with changed body of modern scientist or modern general and head of prophet taken from this pack and added in nifviewer (merging head in max makes to much issues - texture doesn't work well, and head become deformed).

I lost half a day yesterday i think i return to this method soon. It's to much promising - i'll try to play a little bit with changing animations (not this week - i'm to much overloaded) - maybe it's possible to transplantate bones :)

I'll try to make both versions w/ and w/o glow - I'll use version without glow as philosopher for ww2 1939 mod
In suit he looks like Karol Darwin :)
