Units From Wyrmshadow

A small desire for your last SAM System: could you paint it in other 'generic' colours, such as desert (dark, US type) or any cammo style?

Sorry, no. I'm trying to get through these things as quick as I can. Since SAMs are not too useful in game, I dont want to make multiple versions.

just a little something to make you scratch your heads

Cannon Scud?

I remember in World in Conflict the Soviets' Heavy Artillery was a large cannon that looked similar to your Cannon Scud.

My first thought was Pion stand-in, too.

Thorvald is correct, Pion.

Hey Wyrmshadow,
That little self propelled artillery piece wouldn't happen to be a nuclear piece say in the 280mm size?

I did some measurements. It's 320mm by 39cal long.
That is a 12 inch cannon. The same size as used on the Dreadnought. Keep in mind that I used 2 six inch barrels to make this cannon, but in the real world simply scaling up a six inch to twice it's size will not work. The barrel would have to be MUCH thicker to withstand the tremendous stress of the blast. I just wanted to make a cool looking unit, but I doubt even a SCUD TEL could even carry a 100 ton barrel like that.

I must confess I went searching for it (since it reminded me of a picture of the 1953 "Atomic Annie" (280 mm) gun) but had to realize it to be a fictous unit (i.e. I couldn't find anything on such an artillery unit). What I found was, however, quite fitting:

"2B1 "Oka" (420 mm)" and 2A3 "Kondensator" (406 mm)

So, not only is this a (really!) cool looking unit, but its got its root deep within historic soil. Can easily imagine the Ruskies modernizing their rather cumbersome as well as their old self-propelled gun lafette motor pool by mounting their big boy barrels on a more modern and mobile MAZ chassis.

I actually got the see the Atomic Annie in person about 13 years ago at the Fort Sill Artillery Museum.

Awesome! I'd love to go to an Artillery museum. If you ever get the chance, the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio, is stupendous. They have everything from SPADS to F-22s, P-47s to A-10s, and foreign aircraft as well! There even is a Mig-15 bis and the X-Whatever Valkerie!

I love that place.

I knew I wasn't the only one to have this idea!

Tiny Soviets invade the Patio!

OH MY GOD THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE BEST SCENARIO IDEA EVER.

sometime soon

Unfortunately for you guys that are overly attentive, no that is not the correct truck for the Grad. I couldn't find a Ural, but had to settle for a ZIL-157 instead. Looks similar. I was rather lucky to find the correct Ural for the Uragan. The Topol-M TEL is not to scale, it would be simply too large to fit so I had to shrink it.

Is that a BM-21 or some other kind of MRL system? Looks dang good either way.

Answer your question? It's a Grad.
