Units From Wyrmshadow

I've been a leeeetle distracted this week doing a video.

 & a most perfect soundtrack. So, when are you going pro? - Yeah, it's 20 years ago, but direct comparisons are tough, and it beats the [fill in the blank] out of ST:TNG opening credits.

Best,

Oz

Nice video, Wyrmshadow! What's the music?

Oh. I stopped watching at the credits because my cat was doing something impolite on one of my work shirts.

EDIT: OH. From the Planets Suite. Okay. Duh. I'm a dummy.

I saw the credits, and still missed it! Gave it thumbs up, very well done!

Thanks. That's what 50 hours of work looks like.

The video reminds me of an old text based game I played on AoL over 15 years ago when I was a snot-nosed kid (opposed to a snot nosed adult, which I am now) called Federation where you could visit many of Jupiter's moons. I don't think they were terraformed, though- they simply had pressurized structures on them/drilled into them, I think. That's a fun video, Wyrm- I thumbed it up and favorited it.

50 hours doesn't seem bad for that. It would probably take me 200 hours to do one that looks half as good!

Well to be honest, 36 of it was just rendering the 12 gigs of raw and uncompressed AVI video at 1080p resolution. 3 hours (twice) for Adobe premier to render the entire movie. And the rest was actual setup, and learning how to do things in Adobe Premier for the first time, then doing them again because the program crashed too many times for me to count. If you count all the artwork and textures then add another day to the work, but all that I had done previously, minus the little computer target displays. Those I did just for this little project.
Why did I make it? Why not? It's something I've just wanted to do and it came out ALMOST exactly how I wanted it. The camera work is still shaky and in places not satisfactory, the panning is too jerky. But I managed to hide most of that in post-production. Each time I do one of these things I'm surprised at how well it turned out.
This was my 1st attempt at making the video.. not that great.

BTW.. I'm amazed that you even know how to use 3dsmax. I won't even touch that thing except to convert models.

It's often the little things that really seem to add to the overall feel and immersion of something like this. For instance, when the camera passes a planet, the atmosphere on the one side of the planet brightens (glows) when the sun behind it reflects off of it. I don't even know how to do something like that. What's tougher is animating and lighting it to come out right I would imagine.

BTW.. I'm amazed that you even know how to use 3dsmax. I won't even touch that thing except to convert models.

It's not that bad; it brings lots of great things into my life! Anxiety, Stress, Discomfort, Apprehension, and Tension to name a few. :)

next one up

Also, I'm doing another space video... at present pace it's taking 12+ hours per 30 seconds of film, and it's not even the same high resolution as the last one.

Last one looks like BM-27 (9P140) Uragan.
Am I right ?

This is a good successor for BM-21 Grad in Soviet/Russian equipped armies

Your "standard" quality level is just awesome

When I don't know what the vehicle Wyrm posted a preview of is, I right click the preview and look at the file name. :mischief:

Also, my computer just spent 25 hours to do 30 seconds of animation.

Your lighting effects are great, Wyrm. I also like how the trucks are shaken by the launch. :)
