Units From Wyrmshadow

What would it's civ use be?

Modeling logistics in Civ3 is a difficult task… Anyway here few suggestions:

1. generic land transport. This would be mostly useful to carry foot units in city or tactical-scale scenario. For instance it would be perfect for ESFZI Authorities, a military counterpart of Vuldacon’s Farm Truck

2. supply convoy (I). Can be a sort of target - i.e flag unit to capture - in guerilla-style scenario

3. supply convoy (II). In a scenario, make this unit auto-produced by wonder in just one isolated location of the map (such as supply depot, mainland etc). Give it the “finish Improvement” special action flag. Then, if you can drive it safely through map to other friendly locations (cities) you can simulate a logistic boost. The same can be obtained by giving the unit a high cost in stats and by disbanding it on arrival.

4. replacement of run.flc for other units

5.It could be coupled some of your land units to get a quite realistic-looking task group

I would love this truck

If I google this nice monster, I see its used for carrying small military stuff. Nice, but it will be hard to find a purpose for it in the game itself.

My opinion; Don't bother this monster :-)
Im using your Opel Blitz and GMC Halftruck in my game, and they do fine as a mech infantry. So a truck that can carry troops is nice, but a a truck that can carry tanks won't be used i think.

What would it's civ use be?

My first thought would be something like a Raw Material unit like in AoI, only in a more modern scenario, obviously.

Been up the last few hours going through my files to see if I could find anything interesting. I think this is only 25% of the modern models I have. They are all the proper scale too, just randomly arranged. No textures yet. If you can ID them, keep it to yourself. It's highly irritating hearing a bunch of ignoramuses argue over what a certain collection of pixels MIGHT be.

Well...I think you did found some interesting stuff!
Nice mix of vehicles I say, especially the armored IFV!

The Marder looks big! Didn't new it was bigger than a Leopard 1 or LeClerc Tank!?

OH MY GOD THAT PINK LAND ROVER. I have an Eye-Witness book from when I was a kid that had that pink Jeep on the cover.

another night of work. I fixed some of the sizes. searched more of my computer for others. Still have 50% more I think.

This is going to be a nice and fruitful fall and winter. :)
Actually it was your work that inspired me to work on my mod again, including the terrain. And I love doing the sounds - no big deal because I'd do that for my mod anyway. With your work, all the placeholders I've been using can be replaced by new and fine units step by step, and it's always a pleasure seeing them in the game after a long day at work. Thank you.

Where does he get all those wonderful toys?

Thanks Wyrmshadow, this is truly incredible. I definitely will put many of these to good use. I'm particularly impressed with those obscure 4 and 6 wheelers. ;)

Some really good stuff in there, Mr. Wyrm.

THAT PINK JEEP.

A Saladin !! Wonderful! :bounce: This armored car was always intended as the early cold war reccon car for CCM.

yes, the window problem will be fixed.

Too bad Gary never finished his 90% complete Soviet soldier. We could need some decent 40/50s Russians (I'm using Navy Dawg's Soviet for the 70s-80s period).

Be sure you check out the BTR-50 animations as well, if you guys haven't seen them yet. I will keep trying to do sounds that are good enough for Wyrm's artwork. This includes using the correct (=original) engine and weapons sounds, good timing and sample quality.

PS: I think some of you might appreciate the epic endeavour that Wyrm is taking: A complete set of to-scale units for the 1914-2014 period, desert and woodland, including variants, all by one man.

Thanks.

Also, they look good with Ares' terrain.

I agree!

P.s. Gary still active? :mischief:
