University of Iowa Student Wears Ski Mask to Class

I don't know what you are all complaining about. If the University of Iowa did nothing and later the student pulled off a Cho most of you would complain that the University had ignored an obvious thread.

Really? Wearing a ski mask is an obvious threat? (I like your typo.) How many other stupid things constitute an "obvious threat" that justify banning a student? Did this guy have a history of violent or threatening behavior?

It's a dangerous precedent to set. America isn't supposed to be a police state. That's what I'm compaining about.

I agree with you completely. It is just that if some tragedy happened at a university, people would clamor for more totalitarian measures for safety.

"obvious thread"

They should have sent him to the office

There is a University in Iowa?

:p

Thought it was a disco with books...

Any society that would give up essential liberty to gain a little temporary security will deserve neither and lose both.

Lunacy, sheer stupid lunacy. Nice going morons. Good thing they realised how stupid they were before they did anymore damage

what did Cho do that was along the lines of this before shooting people?

I think it is justifiable to be somewhat concerned of a student wearing a ski-mask in a classroom unless that classroom that the student entered is extremely cold.Should be slapped with a "stupidity warning" and that is all.

After the university officials found out and dismissed the ban.Just a case of misunderstanding based on the naiveness of the student not knowing that it can be suspiciously be percieved as a danger in this day and age.

man if a freak like that had showed up in my class, i would have stopped going to class. not worth it. copycat killers always follow in the wake of a major school shooting. weirdos like that? even if they are harmless, not worth the risk.

For gods sake pull yourself togeather man. Dont let the side down.

Some moron kid trying to get a reaction no doubt. Trying to be offensive or shocking, thinking its really cool. Hell he might have even deluded himself into thinking it was a "political statement".

I think he should not only have been expelled, but also perhaps imprisoned for life. We need to send a clear message to annoying retards everywhere.

That is BS, I think whoever did that did it as a joke. Yes it was in bad taste but a joke still.

This is BS, why shouldn't people be free to wear whatever they want?

Isn't america the land of the free? so where did that guy's freedom go?

What if he had a good reason to wear a mask, like being really ugly or a freak?
What then?

I'd love to wear a mask during those really cold winter months (despite being cute as hell). Given we haven't had any really cold winters since the weather broke, but we used to have them, yet I didn't wear a ski mask for fear of being shot by the police or someone calling the cops on me or something.

I can't wear what I want cause people are a bunch of hysterical *censored*.

He should just claim it was for religious reasons or something

If you can't go to university and cosplay as Future Hiro Nakamura, then the terrorists have won.

Psychological would be more plausible. "When I got up this morning, I looked in the mirror and couldn't stand the face I saw. So I put this on, and suddenly I felt absolutely fine."

Or a much simpler. "My face was all red and puffy this morning, so I put the mask on to keep me from scratching at it."
