Up for an expansive game?

This yes, and trade for Monarchy as priority #1 (we need to open it up too remember). After currency Civil Service is obvious.

Research currency -> research meditation most likely unless there's a good trade already (for instance maths+meditation) -> trade for Monarchy -> gauge remaining trades -> Civil S.
Of course if we're unable to trade for Monarchy after meditation we will research it ourselves -- it's too important to postpone.

I can't emphasise enough the importance of getting HR right now. We need to grow our capital far into double digits and start cottaging the river tiles once the forests are chopped for GL+NE and whatever swordsmen we need.

The evidence is clear, this is the superior. :scan:

what's left to discuss? maybe which unit should be tasked to unlock the HE (and how)...

edit:
@pigswill: indeed :lol:

I got the game and had a look. I will post a PPP tomorrow morning.

PPP
Builds:
The evidence:
swordman->swordman->great library

fact:
swordman->swordman

ice archers (renamed from Hariharalaya):
research

YasodHarapura:
barracks or swrodman?

Angkor Thom:
Granary->barracks

workers:
The south one:
Get marble fast.
Chop forests around The Evidence and build cottage on riverside tiles.

military:
Capture both barb cities.
Shall we relocate the closest one?

Techs:
Tech currency.

If we trade for masonry with Hyana it will cause harm to our relationship with Isabella but it would allow us to steal monotheism from Isabella. And then trade currency for monarchy. I could go either way here.

YasodHarapura:
barracks or swrodman?
Barracks is not worth it IMO, I'd rather have an extra swordsman than C1 on 2 swordsman. We already have the exp boost from 2 other cities and can aim to unlock the HE with one of those if possible.

military:
Capture both barb cities.
Shall we relocate the closest one?
No! :) The city is decently placed and it's not even close to worth it to raze and relocate. Yes we will miss the gold tile, but tiles like these have very diminishing returns -- they are amazing in the early game but by the time we will use it it will be nothing special.

It's almost never worth it to raze and resettle a city (I would even suggest to remove the "almost").

Angkor Thom:
Granary->barracks
Barracks not worth it, no war upcoming. Better to grow while building research/wealth and then get a worker, IMO.

If we trade for masonry with Hyana it will cause harm to our relationship with Isabella but it would allow us to steal monotheism from Isabella. And then trade currency for monarchy. I could go either way here.
We've known Isabella for so long that this is not an issue (the longer you know someone the higher the threshold for +/- relations from gift/trade).
We also need masony this turn to improve marble (with the 2 workers).
Spies for stealing cost a lot of hammers (and EP), not worth it at this stage.

We already have enough EP on Isabella to steal monotheism. It is very likely we will succeed with one spy as we have open borders and she is close.

I will not build a spy against the wishes of the team but I prefer to do it.

I agree with your other points.

I have a window to play in tonight. Next window will be in three days.

Nice going Ras and Rusten, you are the superior.

LOL about Aesthetics.

I agree Monarchy is top priority to grow The Evidence and shared civics diplo bonus with Rags and HC. Currency will be a good chip for it and will come just in time so we don't have to slow our expansion.

I vote for the Lit <> Masonry trade, GLib would be nice but I won't cry over it if we fail it into dollas (would be cool to get Math before the chops but I don't really see it happening).

Name suggestion for Yasod: Amphibia (it is a city of sea people and will probably become our HE?)

Still pondering names for Angkor Thom

A very good start in this game, what could go wrong? ;)

No comment on stealing monotheism?

No comment on stealing monotheism?
Oh yes sorry, made a mental note then forgot. I don't have a strong opinion on the matter but I'd rather save the EP to see Izzy's research later so we can optimize our reasearch choices (assuming she becomes Friendly soon enough).

It's also a small gamble on a waste of :hammers: if the Spy ends up getting caught...

If we do not steal it. Are we going to selftech it? Trade currency for it?

Just self-research priesthood (very cheap) -- no need for monotheism, we can delay it.
Priesthood is great to sell for whatever spare gold AIs have and gives research boost towards CoL -- we want this anyway.
Pacifism will be superior to OR.
If spy gets caught we can also suffer diplo points with Isabella, no?

Wouldn't want this to get delayed 3 days so you should probably aim to play this today, but it would be nice to have the captain check in and approve first, how long can you delay it?

Confucianism has been founded btw, and not on our continent, so noone will have it. This means the plan of currency -> priesthood -> trade for monarchy -> research CoL -> research CS and lightbulb philosophy is very strong.

Depending on GS dates we can adopt pacifism and HR the same turn to save anarchy -- I think this should work out just fine.

I guess I could play in about three hours.

I will agree to not get a spy. Tech currency then priesthood.

Also recommend keeping all the swordsmen around the barbarian cities in case one of the AIs start attacking it. Be ready to pounce. It will take some turns still until we have enough to clear it ourselves.

750 BC:
made tech trade

725 BC:
Isabella cancels gold for wine deal. Made fur for wine deal to build relations and we can get more fur.
Hyana moving army to capture Carib.
700 BC:
Rangar declared war on Isabella.
650 BC:
Hyana declare war on Isabella.
625 BC
Hyana captures Carib.
575 BC
Isabella is pleased.
Hyana is annoyed.
Uzbek is captured without losses.
Hyana has currency.
550 BC
Isabella asked us to join her war against Hyana. I declined as I do not think we are ready yet.
We have the great library.

Vikings seem to be behind Hyana. They have had a lot of units moving three his territory on their way to Isabella.

Immediate thoughs for the future -- more to come later.

Looks good. :)
Pity we lost the northern barb city, but I'll gladly take 1, could've easily lost both.

Make sure Yasod has its GS pop before capital! 1st Gs from here then 2nd and 3rd from capital with GL+NE. Finish a cottage near the capital this turn and fire the GS for now -- start on NE.

Settle a cheeky city 2W of cows?
We can try to steal sugar with culture. Just have to get 100 culture early to start adding hidden culture and then get ~20 CPT output (non-hidden) to compensate from the extra distance compared to Huayna. Sounds possible as we're creative and have religion -- not as expensive as it could be. Once it gets 500 culture it's golden.

It's a decent city even without the sugar. Uzbek has a lot of food already and it picks up a lot of grass hills. The sugar would simply be a really good bonus. With that in mind I think Fact should switch to settler immediately and then 2-pop whip ASAP.

Looks like I'm UP for an expansive game.

City names:
Yasod - Amphibia (as already suggested by Pomthom)
Anghor Thom = Awesome Venn
Hari - Trojan Horse

Getting a bit worried about city maintenance. Uzbek will be out of revolt in 3 turns, Rusten City will add to the costs. We're also payng a small fortune in unit maintenance (12gpt). However cities should start growing and working a bit more commerce, currency will help of course.

Maybe swop all builds to research except settler in Fact (can be whipped next turn) and granary in Uzbek.

Use 2 northern workers to farm rice (3t) then road to Uzbek. Southern worker to help connect silver in Trojan Horse and improve horses. Others build some Factual cottages.

I'm assuming that Rusten City goes on the west bank grassland.

Maybe swop research to PH (1t), sell PH to Honey who's got 90g atm then resume currency.

I do not understand why we do not have trade route with Inca. Uzbek should be connected to the river and to Carib which is connected over water to other Inca cities.

I could go either way on the rusten city.

I like the idea about getting priesthood and selling it for gold to pay for currency research.

We need to intervene in the war at some point. We should monitor carefully what is happening. If the war is a standstill we are in a pretty good position to broker techs between Inca and Spain, but if Spain is loosing we are in a bad position.

Hari - Trojan Horse
Why not Troyan Horse? :mischief:

Maybe swop all builds to research except settler in Fact (can be whipped next turn) and granary in Uzbek.

Don't know about building Research. Maybe put settler into position but wait for Currency before settling Rusten City?

I also like the PH idea.

Do we have Sailing? I can't look at the save right now.
