Update 1.1.1 Patch Notes - March 25, 2025

Maya:
  • Uwaybil K'uh Quarter Production gained changed from 15% to 5% of the Technology researched.
I guess they found the limit to how fun an unbalanced game is ;)

I wonder who asked for this. Were town yields so strong? And the change to Legions makes them at most get a +4 combat bonus, where most unique military units are balanced around getting up to +8 from their special abilities. Here I thought Rome was one of the most solidly-balanced of all the Antiquity civs.
I’m guessing that it was that you could double up with Lafayette.

Oh hey - the relationship tooltip is much nicer!

Rh, at least for me, it's still stuck at "download is starting 0%" despite downloading something apparently... so maybe it's more of a (unintentional) preload?
Mine downloaded, and I'm in. Enjoying my beautiful cursor, looking at Simón of Bólv-aria on Mac OS.

A bit on the fence about Modern age changes as well. Genuine question to everyone: when finishing the Modern age as-is before the patch, do you feel that it goes too fast and wish it lasted longer, or you already find it to be a slog that you want to be done with ASAP? The upcoming changes will leave the latter group disappointed.

And they nerfed both of them, which I think is an overkill. I’d have nerfed only Lafayette in this regard, and maybe offset that by making his Social Policy endeavor a tiny bit cheaper.

Heads up to all PS5 players (I own the Deluxe Edition):

I had to go into the PS store and individually purchase all the dlc content; Ada, Simon, Carthage, Natural Wonders ect. that came with the last TWO DLCs. They were all free, but each and every one had to be purchased. Even though I've played Carthage before!

None of it was available this morning even though it was all there last night. I also couldn't load my saved games until I "Purchased" each content again.

Wow, big nerf to Hawaii.
It was needed... But the part I'm less happy about is the culture on marine tiles in their kit which stayed strongest is the part where you need to keep your cities converted. Firaxis still haven't worked out how to make religion fun in Civ, so not enthused to see a civ encouraging me to play whack-a-mole.

Jesus, what did they do to the resource icons? They look horrible now. Need a mod to fix it ASAP.

I didn't want Modern to be l-o-n-g-e-r; I just wanted it to be more interesting.

  • Hide “turns until growth” UI when a Town has a focus (and thus will not be growing).
Ahh, it was confusing for sure but I used that info to switch them back sometimes.

  • Notifications now properly play their animations at the start of a new turn.
That was my irrational pet peeve - the way this moved in every turn, then disappeared and slooowly moved in again (classic JS/CSS animation problem)

This is what they look like. What is that low resolution janky ****?

They actually added MetalFX Temporal and Spatial for Macs, which is huge(!!), but everything other than the UI turns black when I apply it. Does anyone else have this issue?

I very much agree with this sentiment! Modern is the weakest part of the game by far, to the point where I just skip it most of the time.

I'll see if the new patch is an improvement, but for me the issue is that it's a railroaded beeline to your favoured win condition. Making a boring thing longer doesn't help. Just look at cricket.
