Update 1.2.3 is on the way!

Hey CivFanatics! :wavey: Popping in with a heads-up than an update is coming your way - targeted for next week! Some of the highlights:
  • Auto-Explore!
  • We're introducing the first round of Age transition improvements
  • Trung Nhi joins Trung Trac as a new Commander
(I'll seen you soon with the full notes when they go live!)

Out of all that is announced/hinted, - "a Continuity setting preserves unit positions" is almost certainly the one most directly related to numerous complaints on these Threads.

No more Fleet Commanders on the far side of the continent, or in lakes, or all clustered in your smallest seaside hamlet? Can't wait . . .

Custom commanders? This is a thing we can do?? Awesome!!!!!

Adding new flavorful content to an existing leader just because??? EVEN BETTER :woohoo:

Wonderful new!
But this time i hope switch players don't have to wait days to get their version of the patch!

These sound like great changes! Smoother/more predictable transitions and more options surrounding them is always great and I'm really curious about Trung Nih. Deeper unique units seems like a really cool way to give leaders identities. Excited to try it all out!

I wonder does Trung Nhi will be just a graphical changes (the one which gets additional promotions), or "her own tactical playstyle" implies gameplay effect? In the latter case it's interesting how it would work with civ-specific unique commanders like Legatus.

But overall the changes are really great. If I understand the point about age transition right, the lock allows extending age by up to 10 turns and if that's so, it's fantastic. Like best from both standard and long ages.

Just how can they calculate the transition 10 moves ahead?
I thought the "score" depended on how fast events of all players, including computer players, where achieved? How do you predict that?

I guess the 10 turns triggers when the timer hits 100% so you are just extending each age by 10 turns.

I never minded the abrupt endings of ages, so I hope there are some options around it. 10 turns feels like a long time - especially with how quick exploration era is.

Auto-explore will be nice.

Overall, headline announcements are a little underwhelming at a glance. My Civ7 playtime is dropping, so a bigger shakeup would be nice. Hopefully it's coming and this is just Firaxis dropping tidbits to tide us over.

My assumption currently is the 10 turns countdown starts at 90%, so you are forced to deal with the worst of the crisis for 10 turns at max. The absolute maximum I could see is 95%.

Yes, I expect this to be a smaller patch since last month's patch was a large one and next month's patch will probably be a large one (plus DLC).

I guess they could do it that way, but it would still extend the age quite a bit since the era score doesn't jump linearly.

Hopefully they give us options. I'm not sure this is an option I personally want.

Fingers crossed... Civ7 is really entering the danger zone now methinks.

I suspect that she's the first Commander Trung Trac unlocks and that she has a unique ability.

My reasoning for that is Civs with their own unique commanders - would she be a legatus if Trac plays Rome? It could be fully cosmetic, but I would hope there's something more going on.

I Imagine that she could be “Trung Nhi” Legatus where she gets two special effects. (one from Rome, another from first Trung Trac commander)
