Remember the kid, convicted for consensual oral sex with a minor and sentenced to 10 years in Georgia. Outrage is growing.

I remember a very lively debate. Now, enjoy these articles, espn.com and new york times, that illuminates a subject I know all too well, having lived right where Genarlow lived.

It's a shame, and a travesty. Just read the ESPN article

Poor guy. Even if he is freed now, he will have already served two years and be with a criminal record.

And this case is actually deserving the rasist label...

That, and a local school teacher who had sex with a minor AFTER wilson went to jail is free on parole right now.

Remember folks. 2 years ago, a little underage consensual sex would get you a slap on the wrist, but a oral sex gets you 10 years hard time!

Punishment fits the crime, yup yup!

(the law has changed, but did not change retroactively)
 
I signed the petition. This guy is NOT a sex offener. If we start hauling kids away for getting BJs...a whole lot of teenagers are going to jail.
 
I'm a law'n'order type, but the prosecutor in this case (I forget his name) is just as much an ass as Nifong was in the Duke lacrosse case.
 
Can't someone just challenge the constitutionality of the law and get him out?

This is correct. There is a bill out there making this change retrogressive, sending Genarlow home.

He COULD have already been sent home, if the DA wanted to, he has the power.

The DA in this case sounds a real fool. Are DA's not elected over there? Wont he get slapped at the next election?
 
I think he was let off lightly, he deserved to serve more time.

Obviously he thinks oral sex is the bane of this nation's existence.

In 1998, oral sex between consenting adults was punishable by up to 20 years in jail in Georgia. I wonder what percentage of the population broke that law?

Although I think it is still illegal in Illinois for a black man to walk on public sidewalks after dusk.
