I was under the impression that the most common trait in pedophiles was having been a victim of another pedophile when they themselves were children.

So do you disagree with that or do you accept it and claim that this alters their brain "notably" (everything alters ones brain, technically, but i take it you mean really grand changes affecting all sorts of hormone levels and things like that)?

When you criminalize a lot of people, then say "oh but wait, we'll only charge when it makes sense" you've really stepped in the direction of criminalizing what is in essence normal human behavior that shouldn't be criminalized and are leaving the discretion to prosecute far too open. The discretion is no longer an escape valve to avoid weird situations but is instead a weapon to charge somebody just when you feel like it.

Not that the Bible as a whole was divinely inspired (Which is a fundamentalist position - but then CH is a fundamentalist who believes in YEC), but the point I was referencing was that Jerome's translation into Latin vulgate was divinely guided, so that each word and verse was an accurate translation. Male High School Cheerleader Kicked Off Squad And Suspended For Kissing Another Boy

A gay high school student in Alice, Texas, says he was kicked off the cheerleading squad and suspended after kissing another male student.

The cheerleader, who wishes to remain anonymous, was caught on a surveillance camera, reports 6 News, which leads him and his family to believe that he was being monitored and targeted because he's gay.

"They never check cameras for anything unless something is stolen," he said. "We would be the ones getting caught because I'm sure we were the only ones, sexual orientation wise, being caught like that."

The cheerleader also stated that public affection is not uncommon among the students at Alice High School, which he claims is further proof of the discrimination he's facing.

"In this school [kissing] is everywhere, if that were the case, suspending everyone for that, half the school would be suspended," he said.

The student's parents told 6 News that when they met with a school administrator they learned that the school is reviewing the principal's decision to suspended their son and they could expect news next week. The family added that they are prepared to start a fight if their son isn't reinstated on the squad.

5th grader’s winning pro-marriage equality speech banned by NY school

A elementary school principal at PS 195 in Queens, New York City has barred a fifth-grade student from delivering a speech about marriage equality to the rest of the school even though he won a class competition.

Same sex marriage is legal in New York, but principal Beryl Bailey told Kameron Slade’s mother that the topic was not appropriate for a school speech. The boy was given the choice of writing another speech or sitting out of the contest.

“For him to be denied the right to voice his opinion really upsets me,” the mother told NY1.

Kameron Slade explained why he was disappointed when he got the news.

“I was really looking forward to it,” Kameron remarked. “I thought that this was a real good winning speech for tomorrow.”

“She said that people have different opinions on it and that some parents may not want their children to learn about this type of topic.”

In his speech, the student says he supports marriage equality and calls for tolerance from others.

“Like President Obama, I believe that all people should have the right to marry whoever they want,” Kameron insists, speaking of his mother’s gay friends. “They seem happy and best of all, they seem to love each other.”

The school’s website indicated that “Democracy Speeches” were being delivered by grades 1-5 on Friday.

For his part, the Kameron said he was preparing a new speech about animal cruelty.

“Public schools, like all institutions of learning, are supposed to teach facts and relevant topics,” The New Civil Rights Movement’s David Badash observed. “Schools need to recognize that for students to learn about equality, they have to start teaching it.”

Ary's lawyer, Matthew Krause, said the suspension was unjustified and that Ary is entitled to express his opinion on homosexuality in school.

"Just because you walk through the schoolhouse doors does not mean you shed your 1st Amendment rights," Krause said in a statement. "Dakota wasn't disrupting class. It all began in Ary's German class, where the teacher was leading the students in a discussion about religion in Germany.

According to a statement from Liberty Counsel, one student asked what Germans thought about homosexuality in relation to religion. Another student asked to hear the German translation of "lesbian."

That's when Ary turned to a friend and said, "I'm a Christian and, to me, being homosexual is wrong," the teenager said in a television interview on Fox News earlier this week.

"It wasn't directed to anyone except my friend who was sitting behind me," he said. "I guess [the teacher] heard me and started to yell about it."

I'd be more inclined to symphatize if the conservatives showed any interest whatever in the endemic homophobia of the American school system and the gay children committing suicide because of bullying.

Nonetheless, I think Ary acted within his First Amendment rights by making a private remark to a nearby classmate in response to an open question about religion and homosexuality. And the teacher could have handled it the right way by addressing the remark calmly, and using it to start up a civil discussion. Merely suppressing an opinion does no one any good - it certainly doesn't change minds.

I'm not sure. I largely feel that it is something you are born with. However, as noted in the aforementioned source, there maybe something to it to believe that it can be caused by malleable factors as well.
