it seemed like it would have been way easier for the whole lot of us to just keep those zombies at bay then to run. too bad so man ran, and the rest got stuck being killed.
If you've played a zombie, you will know. There's NO WAY to stop the advance of zombies. Especially now that headshot no longer knocks XP off - it used to be an effective weapon to force non-maxed out zombies to go away.
You move to a safehouse. You knock down the barricade. Groan if you meet survivors to attract other zombies to you. Do it with all your AP. If you can get inside, nice... start chewing on them.
They kill you? No problem. All they can do is kill you and dump you outside. Eventually you'll find your way back in. It only takes a few APs.
Just starting your unlife and don't know how to get XP? Look for clusters of other zombies. Eventually you will find a just-cracked-open safehouse with lots of fresh brains inside.
And remember: This is a zombie horror game afterall. And the game mechanism does what it is intended to do: Humans run for their lives when the big zombie horde comes. Survivors are the mice, zombies are the cats.

that Police station had served me well (spent 3 days searching it and i still havent run out of the bullets i found there) so i felt obligated to defend it.
You're just a lucky man... people have spent all their APs and found very little. When you have Shopping and Bargain Hunting, you will know how effective they are inside malls. You can also check the official Wiki... in survivor resources, there's a page about search odds, comparing various location/skill combinations.

my experience is the other way. spent a couple (may have been 4) days in a police station, got a LOT of amo (i think i was up to 43 items between teh (loaded) guns and the ammo) and now that i can actualy use them again (by being alive), i'm leveling very fast.
It's only because you have a nice supply of bullets

only starting char i didnt make is the consumer. seems like a tough one to me. shopping is completely useless till you get free running (to enter a mall), and free running costs 100 exp that you ahve almost no way of getting.
Heal people! Nice and easy. You get good chance of finding FAKs in hospitals, and you go around healing others. Healing unwounded people won't cost your FAK, just 1 AP. And any survivor stuck on the streets could use some healing anyway. You can also sit still inside a safehouse and try to heal all the people. You can quickly gather your first few levels with little risks.

are you an organized group, or just seperate chars in UD who share a love of CFC?
I think you already know the answer by now
