USA Foreign Policy

Trump told the NKs (and Chinese) he's playing poker with them. Dummy, you cant scare them if you're also telling them its a bluff. And now he had a doc explain how he's not plagued with dementia, so they dont need to fear his wrath on that account either. The more Trump tries to convince people he's sane the less NK has to be worried about pushing him too far.

So if he's sane he's not going to trigger nukular warfare. So he can't threaten them with that.
And he really says (and has been saying since at least last week) that the talks between NK and SK are due to him so presumably it was, as you say, a bluff. But a sane person would not dare an insane one on nukular warfare, right?

So if he's sane he's not going to trigger nukular warfare. So he can't threaten them with that.
One commentator pointed out that not only have families of servicefolk in South Korea not been sent home (as one would do if military action were really being planned), but soldiers newly deploying to SK are going with their families.

To call it a game suggests Trump has any sort of strategy to begin with. That the military is carrying on with business as usual just means they are somewhat insulated from his direct interference in my mind.

Do you actually need a strategy to play whack-a-mole?

Yeah. I think so.

I've never played the game myself, but isn't the strategy that you whack a mole as soon as one appears?

I think if you don't do that you won't win.

It's a bit like Donald Trump tweeting as soon as anyone mentions him.

It's not a complicated strategy, but it is a strategy.

Hmm. Or is it just a tactic?

Yes. That's the fella.
