The Epstein Files

Since Democrats are being investigated, those portions of the files should not be released. Since Republicans are not being investigated, those portions should be released.
As mooted here first, mind you:
But I saw one treatment that gives the right angle of attack on this: "Well, Donald Trump's not under investigation, is he? You could release the documents that mention him." Then, having established that principle, "You haven't released the documents mentioning Donald Trump. Does that mean he too is under investigation?"
I wonder if this can get any traction. It's a simple and straightforward enough principle, and to any reasonable person, it would subvert any grounds Bondi might offer for her chicanery. It's up against the willful irrationality of Trump and his supporters, though, and that's a heavy lift. There's none so blind as he who will not see. But sometimes a principle can be so self-evident as to disable such obfuscation.

Probably not, even so. They'll just say, "There are lots of names of lots of people on every document, so we can't release even documents that show Republicans to be innocent because they also mention guilty Democrats."

The wise man bowed his head. "There is no difference between good and bad things,"

White people have voted in the majority for Trump in all three of his presidential bids. In the South in particular, white people vote as a bloc, in many areas upwards of 90%, for Trump and for the people you describe here as his guilty enablers. What is funny to me, in particular, is you suggesting that the United States Representatives should be hanged for treason, but I extrapolate further to their voter base and suddenly you're whining about me being a racist? You're the one saying you want to decapitate the white political movement by executing its elected leaders!
"racism is bad, except when it's against the race I don't like"
The exact same sort of arguments you use are throwing you ballistic when it's about the skintones you have a fetish about rather than the one you have a pet peeve. You're the first in line fuming at the ears and shouting about evil when anyone says anything that could be interpreted to a generalization about anyone who is not white. But you happily does the exact same thing when it suits your preferences.
Behind the pretexts, you're just what you hate, and you summed up yourself pretty much already :
It's Okay When My Team Does It

And BTW, throwing people who ignore democracy and the rule of law to the sharks has nothing to do with a specific political movement, it's about exactly as it says, i.e. the disregard for democracy and rule of law. That it would encompass a wide amount of the pro-Trump and that Trumpism is the most significant, dangerous and flagrant movement currently that push for it doesn't restrict it selectively to said Trumpism.

i've actually never had the impression that lex dislikes white people, and that's about my input for that exchange.

on actual thread topicality, seems like the doj has a 30 day time limit for releasing the epstein files (or did yesterday at least, so 29 day limit?), we'll have it drop just before christmas as some form of an aberrant holiday gift

Akka, you are the one taking a throwaway joke made by a white person and "going ballistic" about it. This pretense of an equivalence requires purposely ignoring how power is distributed in the real world. Apropos, what you're quoting was referring to an actual action taken by a state against real people, and you're now applying it to a shitpost. Get a grip!

Oh, so it's just a coincidence that this neutral application of a principle would totally devastate the Get Rid of Democracy And The Rule of Law political movement ?
How convenient!

Bill and Hillary Clinton better show up in front of Congress or else risk 4 months in prison according to House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer.

"Other Democrats have sent letters saying they knew nothing about Epstein, which would hold in court if something ever comes out that they did know something, then they've committed perjury there," he said. "But the Clintons have never responded. They're the one group in this investigation that's never had to answer questions in front of a credible reporter, and they've never certainly answered questions from attorneys or members of Congress.

"So we expect the Clintons to come in, or I expect the Clintons to be met with the same fate that [Steve] Bannon and [Peter] Navarro were met with when the Democrats were in control," he concluded.

Testifying for a long time and arguably committing perjury somewhere will probably result in a prosecution like James Comey I'd say.

The DOJ is no longer waiting for airtight cases before going to trial.

That depends on what the meaning of the word island is.

I seriously was starting to wonder if anyone else was confused by Akka's reaction.

Pranksters Re-Created a Working Version of Jeffrey Epstein’s Gmail Inbox

Using Jmail, you can read thousands of Jeffrey Epstein’s emails in a familiar format. Use the star function to highlight notable finds.

Jmail is a really neat idea, but sadly there is no way to sort the mails by date.

Every 10 pages of emails it counts down to 2008 and then loops back to 2018.

Selective obliviousness hard at work I guess.

Ah yeah, "joke". Sure. Funny how the "joke" line is derided as just a veil over truly held opinions when it's the other way around, but let's believe it's really just a joke here (ignoring something north of a decade of railing against "white people", of course).

I don't really get how you can take literally "Trumpism is the most significant, dangerous and flagrant movement currently that push for [disreguard of democracy and rule of law]" and try to get a gotcha with "so it's a coincidence", but then it's probably the reason why you purposely left it out of the quote to begin with, i.e. deliberately playing dumb.

The joke is that anti-black racism has held political office all over the developed world and that anti-white racism never has. So its kind of funny you're incredibly sensitive about something that doesn't exist and otherwise very indifferent to what has frequently been the norm.

those who have ruled the world with hundreds of years of White racism are inventing a thing or two so they can delete decades of progress . So , perhaps it should be a peculiar duty of progressives or whatever to avoid offering examples of anti-White racism or whatever that might make Maga cheer . It really causes troubles or whatever in this part of the world when it is said Harward will never accept a White man again or whatever , however misrepresented this might be as a statement .

I don't know what to tell you man. Maybe @Angst just knows something you don't.

It is amazing that you react this way to an obvious joke and yet still (presumably) believe that "woke" people are perpetually angry scolds with no sense of humor.
