User names

Mine combines my first name with the beginning of my last, and is a pun on "sidhe", that is, the elder folk.

When I saw your username the first time a while back, the first thing that came to mind was that commercial. Budweiser commercial that was part of a series with the same actor playing a fictional sports star in different sports - very appropriate at the time with all the primadonnas. Here's the vid:

Leon

Yes, this is the one :).

Mine was something I made up years and years ago when I was a little kid and its just kinda stuck, partly because I'm too lazy to come up with and have to memorize a new handle. Alot of people just call me Droopy now.

Didn't I answer a simular question from this one before?
My name is simply the first three letters of my real name.
That's all.
It used to be a business ID I used well over a decade ago, and now it's everywhere.

"yturk39" is short for "yungturk39".

"Yungturk39" comes from an old e-mail username I had..."yungturk". I lost the password, so I had to append a number that I'd remember. 39 is the number of the Air Base Wing at Incirlik AB, Turkey.

"yungturk" is a deliberate misspelling of "youngturk", the username I wanted that was already taken on another site.

I wanted "youngturk" because I like the Rod Stewart song. I also really enjoyed living in Turkey for a while.

...oddly enough, it seems "youngturk" hasn't been taken here, but I can't find any way to change my username, and I've grown so used to yungturk /yturk that I guess it doesn't matter...

My first name's Royston, which usually gets shortened to Roy, but some friends had other ideas so my name became shortened to 'ston' instead, or sometimes 'stonberg' :)

As you wish.

Couldn't think of a name, launched a generator, got this and liked it.

Mine is based on the name of a special theoritical particle that only can travel at higher speeds than light speed : The tachyon. Etymologically speaking, the word is formed with "Tachy-" ,which comes from greek and means fast, and the usual suffix in physics "-on" to name new subatomic particles. In addition, I just inserted the word "wax" to invent some sort of a new particle. Every physicist researching quantum physics (I'm not including myself ;)) wants to discover a new particle and to name it. :scan:

I was very young when I first started making email/user accounts on the internet. For some reason, I was paranoid about people knowing my real name, so I went with another one which starts with the same letter. To this day, I still regret that ridiculous decision and the confusion that arises when I'm referred to as bobby.

As for the 29, when I was making my first accounts I thought to myself "wouldn't it be cool if I add a number in that isn't my age now, but will be later on? So in 17 years, for one whole year, people will ask me how I got my username to be the same as my age." I was a strange, strange boy...

I created mine years ago for a Caesars II forum. It's Latin for "gardener", an approximation of my name.

Any name I actually thought up would annoy me sooner or later, so mine was meaningless nonsense from random keyboard pushing, when I made my in-game user name. It reminded me of 'barbarian' and 'Barbarossa', which I thought was appropriate, so I kept it. 'King of the elephants' didn't occur to me until much later, and I'm not happy about it (although I did like Babar when I was a kid).

I love this. I had always wondered where the name came from. I love the fact that you're being contemptuous. My hat is off to you, sir! :goodjob:

Aww, LM made me blush!

...and now to go from compliment-blush to I'm-so-freakin'-stupid blush:

As you wish.

I recognized your avatar as Westley the first time I saw it, right after starting on the Civ4 boards. Somehow I never once put "Westley" and "Farm Boy" together in my little pea brain... so clueless...

"BrotherTuck" was taken on YouTube so I went with "FatherTuck", and the name stuck on. No real reason why I took it in the first place.

My nickname was given to me by a classmate in the 7th grade... 15 years ago and it stuck. Those were the days when we were laning Warcraft 2, Command and Conquer and Quake. Civ 2 had just made it's entry and I was all up in that.

Anyway, the nickname is derived from my last name with an F thrown in for "street cred", apparently. Anyhow, the name has been used in various forms through all the games I've played ever since, featuring the original gems of King Fleme in Warcraft 2 and Commander_Fleme in C&C/Starcraft (battle.net) to various more imaginative versions used in World of Warcraft.

Still, the original is the one that sticks and it's actually quite funny that at my friends place where we used to lan a lot (there are 3 brothers there, one of whose name is the same as mine) everyone, including their mom, calls me Fleme to this day.

Slash is a character I created in D&D as part of a team 20+ years ago. His character was Axe (yes we're wrestling fans) and we called ourselves Demolition.

1667 was the tail number of one of the two C-130s I was crew chief on while I was active duty in the Air Force.

So I usually use either

Slash1667
or
Slash1666
