v 26, and above ALL Bugs/Crashes reporting thread

Worldbuilder is no longer working for me with SVN 4034. All the icons are gone on the left side when in player mode and in map mode terrain is empty. I clicked on the unit edit button and got this error message as the game crashed;

Runtime Error!
Program:....er's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe
R6025

-pure virtual function call

Clearing the Cache directory may fix this. If it doesn't then turn off Clockpunk and Steampunk see here. I just wrote how to in another thread ;)

If turning them off fixes things tell us because it means that we have not fixed whatever error it is in those bits.

I hope it has not been reported, I can't really read all 57 pages.
Playing v26 here (with patch 1), it all started last evening.

I was trudging about in my prehistoric Navajo game, just after researching animal husbandry, when one of my unit ( a hunter) started to have a strange behaviour. Sometimes after moving the unit would become "invisible". Still showing up in the tooltip if I hover the cursor on the tile where the unit is, but invisible, and unable to attack. After saving the game I decided to restart Civ and reload, and indeed that behavior did not reappear.

BUT, now 3 times out of 4 when I load a savegame (ANY savegame, even much much older ones), and click the Toggle show all resource display, more than half of the resource icons do not show on the map. Closing in on the map the resources are still showing, and I think the tile outputs are correct, but still it's quite inconvenient.

Now considering it also happens with old saves, and that it did not happen back then, I think it rather likely that somehow the game and/or the mod installation became corrupted, because it's not likely that that older savegames are also affected since they worked perfectly back then. And no, clearing the mod cache (all the files in the Cavemen2cosmos/assets/cache folder) doesn't help...

Still I am posting here to ask for suggestions, to attach my savegame in case it helps, and to ask if you want me to try anything before I reinstall the mod and/or the game.

EDIT: Also, can someone tell me if the resource distribution is normal? I chose a continents, balanced setup, but I notice an extreme scarcity of things like sheep, pigs, cows

Disabled both and worldbuilder works fine again.:goodjob:

God emperor can have right.

Lets cut expansive trait bonus from +4 to +2 health because now expansive ai players are too unbalanced above others ai.

I get a crash every time I capture and raze some Ainu city. Viewports on, 3 GB on. In the attached zip file I included the save and minidump.

Edit: the Ainu city is their capital with the last defender. My system: Win XP 32 bit, 3 GB RAM, 2 GB RAM at the graphic card.

New bug, SVN 4034: Da Vinci Tank has a bug somewhere, probably in its graphics. Here is what I have found:
  • Start C2C and go to the Sevopedia. Click on Units and this error appears:
    View attachment 334102
  • The unit list stops with the Cyborg. I guess the Da Vinci Tank is next on the list.
    View attachment 334103
  • Go to the Technologies and click on Clockpunk. If you mouse over the Da Vinci Tank (second unit on the list), the game crashes.

The other Clockpunk units are fine, so I think the problem is just the tank.

Bah! it worked for me. However, someone with Python knowledge should look at that error, it may get to the underlying cause of the error. Hydro really wants this enabled for V27. :(

It is having trouble with the button. That is the only thing mentioned on that line of code. It could be the button itself or it could be the button definition in the art defines file.

I will do a quick check to see if I am having the problem and if I can narrow it down. :sigh:

Edit I replaced the button with the direwolf button and I am still getting the same problems.

Edit2 remove Da Vinci tank and all is well again.

I tried donating the city with viewports on (100x40) and got CTD again.

It worked ok for me, though my viewports are set to 40 x 40, so a fair bit smaller. Are you getting a minidump ? If it's 0 bytes by the way, that's what happens when it cannot write because it's run out of memory, but if you get a non 0 minidump it might indicate something else.

In the City Advisor any Property with a value of zero does not display. In the attached save file the city of Pi-Ramesses has a Crime property of zero, and only four properties are displaying. The recently captured city of Tutong has only one property displaying.

You can use the Domestic Advisor F1 and add columns for crime to see that the property values are zero.

EDIT: SVN is 4037, viewports are not enabled.

Its going to be important for some properties to not display when at 0. However, there are some that may be useful to have display at all times. So perhaps a bool tag should be introduced into the property definition that tells the text manager to force display when the value is at 0.

That is intended. Any property with a value of 0 is not displayed.
While a forced display would be possible, imo it happens too rarely to be a meaningful change. And it would not be a simple boolean as all game objects can have properties, not only cities (although it is only really used for cities at the moment).

Got CTD with 40x40. I don't know what's minidump.
I have 4Gb and win7 64. Low graphics and windowed mode.

Today I updated my Game attached to the curent SVN but sadly the Map Editor is now broken.
I started this game a vew days back with the SVN Version from then and this is my first updated.
(The save is still under the version I started this game)
Edit: I did a new game start under the new SVN and the Map Editor works there without problems.

In the same folder that your BTS game executable is should b a file named minidump.dmp, crated each time the game crashes. This contains some diagnostic information about he nature of the crash, which might give us further clues. If you could provide that, along with the revision number of the SVN version you are using it might help.
