v19 bugs and crashes

Lots of asserts firing in the AI code. Koshling needs to have a look at that when he is back.

I investigated the first one now (and the second one might be the same, will check after). It is actually not frozen or in an infinite loop, just doing something in a really inefficient way. The Interfaith project gets completed and applies every founded religion to every city of all players. Every time it sets a religion in a city, the code updates building commerce for all cities of all players which does something with all buildings in all those cities.
In other words: Very expensive way to do it.

So then, DH what do you think of the Interfaith stuff said here then?

As a workaround I have deactivated instant building commerce updating from religion and corporation spreading. It should still get updated properly at the beginning of next turn. If you see any side effects of that, report.
The Interfaith still needs some time to spread all the religions, but acceptable.

OK is Interfaith supposed to give ALL civs ALL the religions, because now it does???

It gives all that have been founded at the time it is built. Those that come later don't get spread everywhere. You will not that there is no Bahai or Scientology in the cities. That is because they had not been founded when the Interfaith was finished.

But are you sure you want ALL the civs to get this beneficial Project because they get all the Monastery/Cathedrals etc for ALL civs??? To me personally, its a little to weird.:crazyeye:

I can see if the ONE civ that produces the Project gets it:confused:

Just started a new game with the .dll AIAndy posted for non SVN users.

Picked Israel/David on a Huge C2C_Lakes Map 7AI.

This is what I got, see screenies and save.

2193 AD? Classical Era?? When I picked Prehistoric?

Something is way wrong.

JosEPh

Is that repeatable for you?
Could it be that you accidently, by mousewheel or whatever, selected classical? That lights some asserts for me and I end up somewhere like 2000AD or so as well.

No I selected Prehistoric. I did change Sea level to High. I've just been playing that game till just a few minutes ago when it finally CTD'd. I've played it for almost 2 hours and I didn't save once. So I'll have to look at when the last Autosave was.

I'll also start another new game with the same settings and see what shakes.

Edit: Started a new Custom game and when I went to check Era it was on Medieval!?? So I reset to Pre and started game. Normal Pre start. So maybe I turned the wheel when I set Sea Level and moved Era too. Cause Sea level Was/is still on High.

But if it was set on Medieval then why did it read Classical and have the 2193AD as start date? Does this mean that if you start on any Era besides Pre you will get strange start settings/times/eras?

Possibly, as I got some weird stuff when I tried it myself including a crash.
Need to check the code and XML for non prehistoric start some time. It might have bad values for some things.

I was playing a (noobish) game of C2C v19 on C2C_PerfectMongoose (Giant-sized Map, Marathon Speed), and I eventually kept getting CTD's.

The crashes happened 2-3 turns after this save:

Grab this new .dll located here:http://forums.civfanatics.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=309324&d=1324075482

It has a minidump program built into it. So every time you CTD it will pace a mindump file (will be located in your Main BtS directory where the exe is ) that you can then zip and post for AIAndy to look over. He's already fixed 1 bug I had with this new .dll file.

There is something wrong with the watermelon (melon) resource. When I go to lowest graphics it is just a pink square. It is also in the area of the map which CTDs when I scroll over it sometimes in highest graphics.

Hydro can you have a look at the art work to see if you can see what is wrong? It is packed in one of SO's FPK files.

@AIAndy,
Since the new .dll with the minidump built in I've not had a single CTD! :goodjob:

Started another new game this afternoon and am up to ~1600BC. Have only saved every 2-3 thousand game years. This is what I expected when v19 came out. A big Thank you for the Fix.

Just had a WfoC Hang.

Savegame attached. Just hit end of turn.

Memory Usage jumped to 1,621,348k 1st time it happened. Page file usage hit 1.68GB.
Tried to get around it but no go. 2nd Memory usage was 1,103,452K with PF Usage again at 1.68GB.

Right now I'm stuck and can not proceed with this game.

Vanilla v19 with AIANdy's last .dll fix dated 12-16-2011. Not sure if minidump was created as this is a hand and not a CTD.

Can't reproduce that. It does not hang on my PC.

Very curious if it doesn't hang for you. I'll see if I can get past it today. I couldn't last night.

Edit: Still will not finish turn. Running man still running. I can bring up main menu and exit/reload save but still the running man runs on. Will go back to previous save point and see if I can play thru.

Request:If it played thru for you AIAndy, could you upload the next turn so I can try it?

Edit2: I finally got past the running man and into the next turn. The Fix was to up the Stack Limit to 15.
Question: Is the 0 setting the default "unlimited" stack?
Observation: It would seem that the Stack Limit has some built in problems. Maybe it should be revisited/revised?
