v21 bugs and crashes

There is only one part in CultureLevelInfo that uses the function that reports the problem here and that are the SpeedThresholds for which there need to be at max as many as there are game speeds.
So likely you somehow reduced the number of GameSpeed infos.

No, I just checked and it has Blitz, Quick, Normal, Epic, Marathon, Snail, and Eternity. There could be some obvious XML error I made, if you find one feel free to fix it.

EDIT: Doh! I accidentally deleted my local copy of the GameSpeedInfos. Please ignore this problem and move on :blush:
 
Here is a really weird bug that I found while designing a new Wonder. The Fire Hangar building is not working correctly with the <BuildingHappinessChanges> XML tag. If a building is using this combination, the building displays TXT_KEY_FIRE_HANGER instead of Fire Hangar like it should. It still works, but the display is off. I don't think anyone has yet tried to do anything that modifies Fire Hangars, so that's why it has not been spotted yet.

I created a test by modifying Cabaret Voltaire to grant +1 happy from Fire Hangars (see the attached zip file) and then I set up a saved game. If you replace the Cabaret Voltaire BuildingInfos.xml file, and then run the save game, you should see what I saw. Is this something that can be fixed?

I can't seem to figure out why the Fire Hanger text is showing up in the hover over. :(

If anyone else knows how to fix it let me know and I will gladly change my files. Note that the Fire Hanger is under the Water mod and not the Firestorm mod. A leftover from RoM/AND.

Also, the AUTOSAVE is not saving them because no dates are changing??
EDIT EDIT: Even over 250 turns it doesnt change??(screenie 4)

I thought there was a day increment that AIAndy did, where is that at?

Also what ever happened to that new civ posting(and sound) that you have met another civ??
EDIT: Now i get one, when i met the 2nd civ and the 3rd one?? Cant send you an autosave because as above, there are none available??
 
Few things i found:

  • Ally makes stupid offers every turn, like shoes as gift..... also how can i brake the alliance?
  • AI is not smart in trading at all, they selling things, like corporations for a few gold. Not all the time, but it should not to happen at anytime.
  • Snipers, which are limited to 5 if im correct, can be upgraded inside the alliance border, and if they are more advanced, you can make your old snipers and upgrade them to modern snipers again. On this way you can create many as you want, maybe with other units?
  • Young forest should looks like a forest, but its looks like an empty farm
  • Submarines are do not defending the fishing boats if they are on a same tile, and i set them to sentry. Not a big thing, ships does. But they are not leaving my borders when i send them to explore.
  • If i send units to auto border patrol, they are hunt down themselves slowly. Why they are not healing after a battle, like in auto explore?
  • There is a small graphics bug when i plant something like savannah, but after i create improvement with a worker, looks fine.
  • In the modern era, i created a spy, and sended to steal some money from the strongest player treasury, and he stole all of the money of that player, which put down that civ to the 3rd-4th place within a few turns. They have been attacked on other way as well, but they were really strong before.. so is this a bug? AI also should use their spies more often.
  • Where can i see what national and world wonder i have already built in the city and how many left? I think thats also a lot of work, but maybe on the city screen, tabs can be use on a left side for make the buildings separate, like on resources side? This would make the buildings more clearly visible.
    Also finishing wonders with money is? they should work on the same way as projects. Maybe money can spend on national but cannot spend on world wonders to finish them? Can i see somewhere in the game whos started to build a world wonder before i do? so i dont waste pp if the ai finish it before me.
  • Please make an option to settle new city on any tile excluding water of course.
  • The AI build their cities for 3 tiles or for 2? So from the beginning, the AI keep enough distance between the cities? AI knows about the 3 tile option? If i turn the 3 tile option on or off, the AI "thinking" between the two option?
  • Cannot see difference between the railroad and electric railroad on the map, so if i wanna upgrade my trade network, but only the most important routes for the units, its just a work to find the old railways..
  • From the Industrial era, gallows and others are not looking so good in cities. They are not visible on the cityscreen but they still works, and needs to demolish them manually. I know i can upgrade them to lethal injection, but in my world, peoples, except soldiers, just not die:p I have built enough jail and asylum for them if they are going crazy:lol:
  • How can be any city full of happiness because of wonder or anything? :confused: Reality is between good and bad, always. The buildings, wonders and everything which affect the city or the game, should be more balanced, just to make it more real.
    In the modern era where iam at the moment the game is too easy...

2: I just feel like i own too many corporations
3: You can find my upgraded snipers next to Tabriz , about 15 i made
4: Check the young forests..
5: Submarines, even if i sended them to explore, they still not leaving my borders..

8: About a stolen money, and hows that changed the game, i cannot show anything

Most of them are just in the game, those bugs? just what i posted, cant explain it other way..
The borders around Eridu, iam not sure, maybe my relation with the next civ, or that looks how its because of the realistic culture spread?

The Embassies that required Coastal terrain did not recognise the new Tropical Coast and Polar Coast. I've updated Embassy_CIV4BuildinInfos.xml so it works now for me. I left lots of comments and the original elements are commented out so you can see the changes I made. The tag "Wimpy" is around my comments.

Affected Embassies: Ceylonese, Maori, Minoan, Phoenician, Somali, Carthage, English, Japanese and Carib.

No. I asked if I should work on the AI in respect of heroes, but was told to hold off for now because heroes are currently perceived as over-powered and are going to be changed (so the AI will be done after the chnage when we see what heropes look like then).

@SO - any timetable for revising the heroes? Before v22?
 
Having an issue updating from the SVN. I have the latest (as of.. an hour ago), and when I update and recalculate values with Shift+Ctrl+T, I lose a commerce on all my cities river tiles (it comes out as two on some due to Financial). Is this a change in the SVN I've missed, or is it a bug?

It might be a bug depending on whether its getting the wong result, or you PREVIOUSLY had the wrong result. Can you point out what you have that should be giving river tile bonuses, and thus the apparent correct total and if it differs. If it is ending up with the wrong value I'll take a look at it sometime in the next few days. However, a recent bug fix corrected a situation where a civic you USED to be in (bu aren't any more) continued to give some of its bonuses, so it is possible somethign like that is going on and it's actually a fix. You'll need to add things up and list the contributors to see if it's getting it wrong or not.
 
I am investigating that. Somehow it does not work on eternal and snail.

I figured it out. For some reason, the comments I placed between the year intervals were playing havoc with it, and so it was not going through the calendar properly. I have fixed this on the SVN now.

I found that as well and made that specific file comment safe.
In general though there are a lot of Civ4 XML files that are not comment safe at many places (as the reading code considers comments as normal nodes).
Uploaded the fix to the SVN.

Thanks for the advice, I'll go back and check those things out. I'm very much a noob at Civ 4, but from the glance over I had, it looks like I had an extra commerce on river tiles for.. no reason. I'm pretty sure I was never in any civs that gave bonus commerce, but I can check my screenshots.
 
I have been getting a very long pause when I access Settler units, try to move them or found cities or really just do anything with them. It eventually does it, but for 10 to 15 seconds, the screen and animations freeze.

PLS when saying things like this PLS include the savedgame plus if you use the latest patch or the original one and if you use the SVN what revision # thx.

When in doubt, always use a savedgame in the post, thx.
