v23 Bugs and Crashes

I hate resource placement. Platinum has less than a third the chance of iron of being placed and it is placed after iron. There should be 3-4 times the amount of iron than there is platinum. It is obvious I am missing something in the definition somewhere.:sad:

I agree here, placement of Platinum and alot of others are set at only 25 while iron is set at 125, so iron should really be rampant and its set priority is 0 whereas Plat is set at 4? (which means iron goes in 1st before Plat) I believe. (figures could be alittle off)

Could the revealing of iron and platinum from the tech Ironworking be a cause for this problem?

You will notice that when iron and plat are revealed that the plat is generally in clumps of nearby tiles. Sometimes as many as 5 tiles. While iron is always revealed as 1 tile and never clumped. Could this be from the 0 and 4 set priority?

In my current game I and 2 other AI have plat while no one else does(5 AI missed out).

I have set iron placement order to 1 and platinum to 4 or 5. I have made the strategic resources (copper iron, stone, horses) placement order 1. There are other XML tags that affect placement including one that says how many you should have per player.

@AIAndy Can you tell me what/how the iUnique tag in the BonusClassInfos file is used. It seems to be lower value should mean more often but I am not sure.
 
I found a new bug - the Naghualism movie is causing a major freeze. The save game I have attached is when I am just about to be the first to get Sedentary Lifestyle. If I choose Sacrifice Cult as my bonus tech, the game freezes when the Naghualism movie starts. The game really doesn't crash (there is no minidump file available), but I attached a screenshot of the error screen. I can't click OK to get out of the error. I also have to Ctrl-Alt-Delete to get to the Task Manager twice to end the program. The first time I Ctrl-Alt-Delete and bring up the task manager, I get a black screen and the Civ4 cursor. I also tried choosing Caste System as my bonus tech and founding Mesopotamianism, and that didn't have an error. I got past this problem by hitting Escape before the movie could start, but it's still an issue.

If any movie does not show, just hit Esc. I tried to use the new religion found movies, I will revert it back.

Only happens to people who have their error settings to sensitive. Which is why I did not get it in my testing. Does nothing in game.

Except bother the heck out of me when i start each game, cause it does it like 3-4 times with each message.:rolleyes::mischief::p
 
A few small issues, noticed with SVN 2915:

1. There are a couple of items that appear to be missing the needed text. One improvement is listed as 'TXT_KEY_IMPROVEMENT_INDIGENOUS_PEOPLE' and a leader trait is listed as 'TXT_KEY_TRAIT_ANTI_CLERICAL'.

2. The Strategic Grain Reserve requires both Agriculture and Pottery, but Agriculture is a prereq for Pottery. Having both needed is redundant, so Agriculture can be removed as a requirement for the Strategic Grain Reserve.

I checked (6 hrs ago), it is not on the SVN so it is just your machine. You probably have two or more working versions and, like me, got confused which you were looking at.

Failed to allocate video memory. Please try reducing your graphics settings.
File:\mail\civilizations4\SDKs\Gamebryo2_0\corelibs\NiDX9Render\NiDX9SourceTextureData.cpp, line 321.

I've tried to reduce graphics whiteout any result. I have a 1 GB GPU card and 8 GB Ram.
I must say that i haven't played attention to the error message if itsthe same every time (.cpp & line)

i have added my latest auto save and minidump.

is this a bug in the mod or with my system ?

No, it is a problem with the base engine. Civ 4 is a 32 bit game which means that it can only handle 2 GB of memory is your system is a 32 bit OS. The 3 GB switch allows 32 bit OSes to handle an extra gig of RAM, but that is still not enough for C2C on maps larger than Huge. It is an unavoidable issue, although we may have a way to reduce it considerably by V24.

In the mean time, if you haven't used the 3GB switch, try it. If you have, try turning the SHOW_BUILDINGS_LEVEL value to 0 and the ENABLE_DYNAMIC_UNIT_ENTITIES value to 1. Both of these are found in the A_New_Dawn_GlobalDefines.xml file. That should help somewhat.
