V24 Bugs/crashes reporting thread

I couldn't reproduce an actual crash, but I DID reproduce some incorrect viewport-related behaviour at exactly the time you mention, which I can believe MIGHT lead to a crash. I have just pushed a fix to SVN for that - please let me know if it solves your problem. If it does not please check that the rpoblem does NOT occur if you run without viewports enabled so we can be sure it is a viewport problem (as I expect it is)

Works fine without viewports. The next thing I see happening is Tracker 8 (far SW of city) fights something and has enough xp to level on following turn. Of course if it's not crashing at all for you that's probably not the issue.

Anyways, i was going to start a NEW game and got a CTD while loading the LAST part of C2C, only have the minidump, since no game really started:

Right, it was moving to look at the tracker's combat, even though it was off the viewport, which is what I fixed. Maybe it is viewport size dependent - could you try it with a few different sizes and see if that makes any difference for you?

Edit - the minidump doesn't really tell me anything except that it is crashing in the main game negine not our DLL, which usually means something graphical. That's pretty typical for a viewport issue, but it means that unless we can pin down how to reproduce it it under the debugger here, it's going to be hard to find.

I'll try that. I was able to play about 2 hours past that point once I played the turn without viewports without issue until something else came up. This save crashes while waiting for other civs, but right after watching a Tracker fight defensively. [Correction, proceeds smoothly if viewports off] (they were on 48x30,2 for this minidump).

Edit Checked previous save at 64x40 and 56x35. the problem battle appeared onscreen in both cases, though in the latter, it's clearly about two tiles from the edge of the viewport, so maybe it's crashing at 40x32 due to proximity to the edge, too. I'll try a smaller port, too.

Edit2 The previous save works fine at 32x20, so I think the issue might be related to being in that range where the viewport is supposed to be recentered on units near the edge.

Edit 3 At 48x30, I note that the trouble unit is right near the corner of my viewport and the tile he eventually attacks is not visible, so it does seem to be an issue with the edge.

Now come to think of it, that just might be what it was, its Plant Generator, and i was using Gigantic Map, BUT i tried using the LARGEST available, 256X?? with 16 continents and 15 civs.

So now what i did was go DOWN on continents to 14 and 13 civs and it generated the map, but its alittle slow, right at the very end of each turn, that has been happening ALOT lately even in the other games i have stated also, in the C2C game i had before for the WB problem, it was taking just over 1 minute per turn, and at 56 turns for the tech, that means it always takes be around 1 hour PER tech:sad: and thats in Classical Era only. . . .

Might be an issue with exceeding maximum map size then. Max is currently 65535 tiles (so 256 X 256 is one beyond the limit).

Thanks for the detective work. I'll retry the original save at 40 X 32 here...

Does this refer to the second CTD or the first one. I couldn't reproduce the first one at 40X32 BTW.

Edit - bingo!! First save at 48 X 30 reproduced it for me :-)

Edit 2 - yup, fixed. Please try the latest SVN and check it solved it for you too.

ok so i have been getting the problem of the game crashing during the files being loaded, any idea again why?? (btw the problem is not with my files i checked...)
 
Not sure about it but tested it twice:

In v24 when I trying to open pedia page about unit upgrades game goes into endless wait/freeze.

A bit out of topic question. Is there purge option for removing unwanted buildings from own cities in v24? I wondered if it is possible playing v23 few days ago.

1st is the new Murex resource. I will update my SVN and make sure it is still working. I assume you did update all your art files from the SVN, especially the buttons.

The Indigenous Peoples marker is an improvement that replaces goody huts when they have been explored. Events can happen from IP and you will be able to do diplomacy and other things with them. I am intending for them to work like a mini CivV city state. Destroying them will be bad. ;) I am looking for some suitable graphics for coastal ones to replace goody islands also. I a not intending such with crashed probes or other space debris.
 
Koshling, both saves now working at 48x30 as intended. Glad my detecting helped.

Game hangs as soon as I chop the animal (not responding). Doesn't care about viewports. [removed minidump since it was from too early to be related to this problem. No minidump for ctrl-alt-del-ing out, I guess]

svn was your latest update.
 
I got a problem where when I try to load the mod the game disappears for a while before windows pops up an alert to tell me the game has quit working and I have to close it.

I'm using Windows 7, got a 2.4 ghz single core CPU, an integrated chipset and 2 gb of ram and I pass the recommended settings according to 'Can You run it' website.

So, did I maybe install this incorrectly?
 
SVN 3095: I'm getting an absolute HANG on "Waiting for Other Civilizations" when I hit Enter to end the current turn of the attached save game. The "Waiting" message doesn't flash, and even the clock doesn't update -- I have to Control-Alt-Delete to get out of the game. No minidump for this, sorry.
 
I to am getting a "Waiting for Civilizations" hang. Task manager says it is using 50% of the CPU and is "Not Responding". Graphics have frozen. I am using CivPlayer8's civics mod on top of SVN revision 3093.
 
Unit Tribal Guardian have red circle and cannot be activated (it makes sense from unit description) but when I tried to activate it game crashed to desktop : (
