Will you uplading the mod now or wait for the next version of VD(who will probably include the new ethnic citystyle that geo is making) and of RFC?
I think it should be better to wait, espacially to economize boring and unuseful work.
I am approximately in 1600, i think that i'm in renaissance. So the english soldier must be Harquebusier.
PS: i don't want to be indiscreet, but how many times it take to you to upload the version? I ask that because VD is updated very often, so i wanted to know how much it can boredom you.
Perceval, are you talking about Musketmen or Redcoats? Since Redcoats should be OK, but I see the mistake I did with the Muskets (which shouldn't have an unique graphics). The fix is in attachment. Unzip it to Modules\Varietas Delectat\XML\UnitArtStyles&CivInfos, overwriting the previous file, and the Muskets should be back to normal.
No offense, but it would help all modders in this little subforum if you took your time to sit down and learn the basics of modding and not ask the same question every time a new version is released. While it is helpful to remind the modders to update their work, an already updated version is always compatitable with the latest version of RFC.
Not to totally ruin your day though, I'll explain things briefly now. Civ IV uses DLL, SDK, XML and Python as its "script languages" while art files usually take form in DDS. Out of these all, Varietas Delectat adds only new art files (dds, in FPK-packing) and ties them together with XML (used as Civ IV's "backbone" to unify information together). Since RFC's updates are heavily Python, SDK and DLL related, most versions of Lone Wolf's Varietas Delectat RFC implementation should be compatitable with surprisingly large amount of RFC patches.
So there, that should be enough to help you check modcomps' compatibility with one another/different versions of RFC by yourself.
One more thing: since RFC Europe has been originally created as a mod within a mod, it is more distorted from the original Civ IV than RFC. Therefore waiting for a RFC:E compatitable VD is not going to happen anytime soon; it uses a number of entirely new civilizations and units, many of which don't have good second graphics (not to mention 17). If there ever is going to be one though, whoever does that has to do a lot of work to put it all together. Besides, Venezian Arquebusier might not be so much different from its French counterpart so that it would make a difference to make an entirely new art for it.
Speaking as one of the RFC Europe team, I agree with what you've said. As there is substantially little difference between various nationalities for many European units, there is really no intention to import the whole VD package into our mod. So far we have made limited substantial differences to UUs to add flavour to each civ, like the Genoan balestrieri, and the Arab Ghazi light cavalry. Soon though, we will making more fundamental changes to the unit graphics of particular civs as a whole, starting with the Arabs, Cordobans and Ottomans. Later, we'll try to extend that to the Byzantines and Eastern civs like the Bulgarians, Kievan Rus and Moscow. So rather than import VD (as good as it is) we'll approach culturally diverse units sytematically, basically one civ at a time.
I enjoy the various styles quite nicely, but I seem to have a problem, my Cottages/Hamlets/Villages/Towns vanish after sometime, so far though only as Egypt. I just played a quick game as Babylon and my cottages remained as did Indian towns, but Egypt's still vanished but with a mouse over I knew they where there. Anyone else have this problem, easy fix, or is it probably something I did?
