Vincentz Infinite Projects [VIP MOD]

VIP doesn't have REVDCM in it either.

just played a game in Huge Marathon with industry era start. few problems

1. sulfur makes huge difference early in the game, without sulfur, u can't even build Musketman, there's no chance a str 8 maceman militia can stand up against enemy rifleman.

2. Unit cost become so high, it's impossible to station an unit in every city. (build a city with no trade route to get warrior and archer, but they can't stand enemy attack, especially the occasional enemy unit which can use enemy road. (build as many rifleman militia as possible)

3. fuel is impossible to get. since automobile and fuel are required for tank, u need to have a heavy industry to have 1/2000 chance to produce one of them. but you can't build heavy industry, u can build medium industry, then wait 128 turns for it to grow..... not heavy, but dense industry, then another 128 turns into heavy industry. well u also need to be extremely lucky, hoping nothing else such as medicine, fashion, liquor pop out in that tile.

man... I've build 50+ refinery in most city, they can't even produce one drop of fuel for my tank!?

Since you can only build light industry after assembly line, and refinery is not too far away, so make fuel to appear in medium industry, and raise the appearing rate higher in dense and heavy industry.

or make the Refinery produce Fuel, just raise the build cost of refinery, so it's not economical to build refinery in every city

4. highway sucks, automatic workers keep building them considering the fact I don't even have fuel

Playing a huge epic game from ancient era and i have some questions.

Is there a way to lower the 5% extra unit cost? I am not asking for a change in the mod, just what xml file to edit to lower it a little because 3000 :hammers: for a musketeer is seriously annoying.
The Guilds while a nice touch (and historically accurate), confused me because there are so many.
Another issue I encountered is while researching and trying to avoid divine right, I reached up to Thermodynamics and to only tech possible to research at that point was DR. What I usually do is research divine right up to 1 turn left, then switching to another tech. This way I leave Islam to go to another civ, while I am free to try and get the wonders.
Also Barbarian and animals are a big issue. Every time I sent a scout out he would get attacked by Siberian tigers. Two civs in my game underdeveloped because of barbarian cities popping up next to their empires.
In my game market goes away when I could build bazaar. Is that intentional?
Also can you remove the previous :hammers: to :gold:/:culture:/:espionage: when you can produce the new ones?

Thanks for the mod!

For the unit cost increase, you want the <iInstanceCostModifier> tag in the CIV4UnitClassInfos.xml in [...]\Beyond the Sword\Mods\VIP\Assets\XML\Units
For me, 2% instead of 5% works nicely on the bigger maps.

sorry for the long absence and no replies. been a busy time for me lately.
I've started up an old game I was running and fixing some stuff, so I might upload it in a near future (especially the fuel-fix). I'll be back with more specifics.

...been a busy time for me lately.
Chasing a young one Is definitely in that category. :D Alex should be walking soon?

100+ downloads in the first weekend :D
Thanks to everyone for playing the mod. Please do post savegames/screenshots/comments, so I can improve the mod for every playstyle.

I just tried a "speedy" game with standard size big&small/emperor difficulty/quick speed, and got utterly pwned, so it seems like the AI is right on track

(screenie is taken a few turns after I gave up, on AIautoplay)

But.... there is a bug with Communication Network. Pretty much stalls AI in modern era :( Will upload patch/new version soon.

D/l'ing now. Was gone over the weekend (40th Wedding Aniv.). ;)

JosEPh :)

I still expect to see the occasional Alexander pic or 2. On that note, my 6th grand-baby is due in early July (my youngest daughter's 1st). :woohoo:

JosEPh ;)

So this is good to go into the ME Vincentz? I thought I saw somewhere that it only went into the IE.

pic is from a danish tradition called Fastelavn (a sort of carnival for kids). :D

Yeah, the 2.9 had a bug where the AI would continuesly build Communication Network (a project in the line of Nat.Library and Encyclopedia Civ. (and later Internet). It pretty much killed any AI development after Telegraph.

Im currently working on a patch that also moves a few things around, fixes modern Unit requirements, fixes promotions (for air and heli), adds a few buildings and a couple of new units in modern era.

After this patch (which might just be a complete new download as 75 meg is not THAT much to upload/download), the game (while being scarse with stuff in especially future era) will be playable to the end. I did some AI autoplays from industrial era and while one AI had built and launched the spacecraft, and another had gone for total dominans, it was a third that had won on Culture :D
