when a city is built it checks the tile it is on againast a large dictionary of names, if any match it adopts that name, otherwise it searches the 8 adjecent tiles for names. It's made so the AI must settle on a historical site (or an adjecent one) but the human can found anywhere (but you can set restricted zones where humans can't found without being historical.

I was working on expanding it to allow certain civ to be restricted in certain areas etc but never finished it.

but only on Earth map? or it will try on all maps (like the old civ position mod)?

I was getting annoyed that all the good city placements were 2 tile spaced whenever I used LateEra Starts, and I recall promising a feature to change whether it was 2 tiles or 3 tiles city spacing, so here it is (in VIP loader) along with the option to turn off limited religions.

(most modders will prolly look to the sky and shake their head coz of the primitive way its being implemented, but hey! it works ;))

it will do it for all, but code can be added so it only works for senario easily, if the earth map is generated then that might take some doing. But senario specific is easy :p

Im almost at packing a v0.91.
Have done quite a few AIautoruns, and results look fairly good.
If there are any balance issues, suggestions or bugs, now is the time to tell me :p

there have been 200 downloads* in the first week, and I want to thank you all. While I do this mod for myself, it always encourages to carry on when there seem to be an interest in it.
I hope you enjoy the mod, and if not, please post in this thread why not ;)

Also, anyone who post a winning screenie/savegame here will get a GC (Great Chief/Captain/Corporal/Commander/Colonel) named after them. The higher the difficulty the later the GC :lol:

The 0.91 will be savegame compatible, and released either tonight or early tomorrow.



* not much compared to some of the bigger mods, but taking everything into consideration, Im impressed how many still play Civ4.

unfortunately its a bit late coz my son got chicken pox.

it is missing a couple of icons (wrong icons) and a bit of balancing, but that will be minor polishing.

hope you enjoy it, and if there are any bugs/balance/suggestions, feel free to post them here.

:pat:..Good health to your son in the near future. My son 3 yr old had the Pox late last year, only had it for 4-5 days though.

hehe, yeah, I think I just have stayed too long time home with a sick kid, and at every possible chance jumping on CFC to check for "movement" here. ;)

Guess I was just really surprised how many dl the mod. In less than two weeks there have been almost as many downloads as v0.88 had in 9 months.
 
328 downloads, and not a single bugreport, balance issue, comment.
Either its a good sign, or it is just collecting dust on peoples harddrives without being installed.

Ah yes, sorry about that vincentz...I had a few hours in the other day. I had a great time with it, had no problems..and I remember thinking to myself how much I was enjoying it. :high5:

It's been silly around the house this week, my 14yr olds on school holiday, and my 3yr old discovered " Tantrums"..:faint:
 
I've already reached my DL limit for this month :( ( darn kids and evil Netflix). Gotta wait until the 1st to try this out.

I've been playing for a few hours now, very much enjoying it!
I wish I could comment better on the terrains and graphics and etc. but I am visually impaired and have to run things using accessibility helpers- I love the blocky font you use as it does make things easier to read and for reader software to identify.

I love all the new techs too!

I notice a display bug for pacifiism in the civics screen.
It lists the happiness as: + happy face 39512240 per religion in city

I haven't actually switched to pacifism to see if I get 39 millions of happy per religion in the city or not but I just thought I'd let you know that little bug.
