Vive la France ! Unit Pack, Part I

It always depends on what parts of the unit are needed to be civ-colored.

 This is as close as I've seen to a Civ koan. I would say, "Whatever parts are large enough so the color is obvious yet don't detract from the unit's esthetics." :)

Best,

Oz

I'd say the coat in this case, because European powers seem to have liked colorful clothing. Kind of like pedophiles. Maybe change the cuff-sleeves to black.
Would you be re-rendering the soldier completely or just do some magic on the pallette?

I see I'm not the only one to react like that to his most unwelcome jusxtaposition...
If I were Sandris, I guess Bungus would wait a very long time for his civ coloured unit.

Beside, the European units of the time used "funny" colours only on some parts: cuffs, collars, lapels, to distinguish between the various regiment.

The coat itself was "civ coloured", but with Blue, Green, White or Red moslty.

No Cyan, Magenta, Yellow.

Any plan to expand this pack a bit?

There are two reserved posts on the first page which are feeling all sad, they believe their daddy has abandonned them!

I should say that I`m working on French expansion, but I had technical difficulties with some of the units.
Anyway, British expansion will be released before the French one.

This is great news. Will this expansion include cavalry?

Actually, I`m working on cavalry units too, but the animations for cavalry units are new for me (have not been made before), that`s why I`m spending a lot of time on them. So I have to choose - or to post infantry expansion very soon, or to wait some time and to release both infantry and cavalry units in one expansion pack.

Also, I`ve already made the French Musketeer, 1650, but I`m not sure about the colors. Are they OK ?

I know nothing about colours, but to my untutored eye they look great!

But please, I beg of you, let your French musketeer pull out that rapier and do some fencing for attack B or C!!!!!! Just like D'Artagnan and his Three Musketeers: Athos! Porthos! Aramis!

Just look at the bottom of page 3 of my French Uniform reference (the one I sent you) to get the picture of Louis XIII's musketeer.

You roughly got it right. Use a red strip instead of a yellow one for the over cloth, and a blue shirt instead of yellow/greenish

That looks great. I am sure several people will find conflicting color schemes though. It seems to me what was worn under the outer garment varied.

If you need reference pictures, send me an email with your priority request.

Swordfighting? Fencing? Musketeer using his Rapier? Please?

Actually, there are lots of books, referrences and images with different interpretations on musketeer`s uniform.

What about the fencing animation, what should we do with the musket and the wooden rest during the animation ? :)
