Walmart Madness

After the Cabbage Patch Kids fiasco back in the eighties, you could see this comming. It never fails to amaze me what some people are willing to put themselves through to save a few bucks.

I just can't comprehend how stupid, greedy and brainwashed you have to be to NEED these things so badly that you're willing to do this.

I'm not that surprised knowing what kind of people populate the average walmart.

Damn foolish idiots! Well, she deserves it.
The contempt shown to the common man is disgraceful, especially considering that most of you don't have bills to pay, don't have kids to feed and don't have full-time job. Maybe when you're living in the real world you will see why people go to such extreme lengths to save a few bucks.

I believe it was last year a brawl broke out over cheap 13" tvs at Walmart.

Walmart is too large and too evil.

Well, I don't have kids to feed (not yet), but I have a full time job and a lot of bills to pay. But I won't ever line up for hours to save a few €. To me that's just not worth it.

ah yes thats why i shop at target instead. a $29 dvd player? does it work? i bet its crap. they sell those $200 "Lindows" pc's there too.

For the record I live on my own and have bills to pay - rent, car insurance, phone bills, groceries etc. I have a car thats rusting apart and i pay cash for my dental appointments because I don't have coverage.

I even shop at Walmart occasionally and my steak knife set came from the dollar store ($1 for 4 knives!) lol

HOWEVER what i won't do is stand for hours in line outside of a store in the dark and cold with 1000 of my closest friends in order to save $50. I don't make much but my time is certainly worth more than THAT.

"If someone esle had fell instead of her, I'm willing to bet she would have made tracks over the poor dope."

I whole-heartedly agree with this. The only thing that separated her from every other idi...umm person was the fact she got run over.

To buy a DVD player? Hardly one of the necessities of life, hm?

And this was in Orange City... on Florida's east side [near Daytona Beach, where she was flown to be hospitalized]... again, not exactly the most poverty-stricken area of the country.

Sorry, your emotional appeals just don't convince me.

Ok, let assume that you are making $100K a year. This is about 3 to 4 times more than the average American is making per year; so you are rich in this example.;)

$100K div 12 months div 4 weeks div 5 days div 8 hours per day = about $52 per hour before tax. After taxes, you are making around $30 per hour. By standing in line for a $50 saving, you are making a lot more than your regular salary broken down by hour. If you can get a job like standing in line at Walmart and earn $50 per hour, it must be a very good job, don't you think?;)

Of course, in the real world, not too many people make 100K a year. Therefore, any mini-part time job that pays $50 per hour is really a good job (even if it lasts for only 1 hour).

Giving her the player would be an admittance of guilt on the part of Wal-Mart for wrongdoing.

The alleged act that occured, assuming it did, is however, not the responsiblity of Wal-Mart.

Then again, it is okay to sue Wal-Mart because they are a giant faceless corporation that doesn't need all that money.

A miracle! A leftwing opinion from the hand of rmsharpe!

Serious: If there is a law that sais shops should protect their customers, it is fine to sue Walmart. But the amount of money thta walmart isn't thta interesting.

Another point. I once spent 699 guilders (350 dollars) on my DVD player :( .

Seeing as we are unfamiliar with sarcasm, I shall close the register at this point.

Tru tru, but I will never have to buy a DVD player, since I use a computer. :p
