Warhammer Fantasy Mod 2.0

I'm undecided on what I think of the current implementation of magic... it's neat for the human player to use, but so far when I've played the AI has only ever used magic to bombard pirate ships near their border and once against a unit of mine after, ahem, capturing it from a city of mine. Oh yeah and an AI High Elf city with no access to iron built them in preference to warriors but used them suicidally... the onus is really on Firaxis to fix such stupid AI though (I hope they make the barbarians as good as they used to be, as well).

In 2.0 Undead improvements are available only through civ-specific branches, so no one else beside Khemri and Sylvania can get them :)

...and that different concept of magic proposed by drzoidberg unfortunately has the same problem - AI doesn't know how to use it. But it doesn't know how to use artillery in general, yet it is present in civ3. So will be the magic in the mod.

Spells aren't that bad - when you're attacked by big creatures and have nothing to put on defense, they really work very well. Indeed I only saw AI using spells when he captured them from be, but again, I never saw AI using Cruise Missles or Helicopters in Civ3 :rolleyes:
 
Yeah, that's my (unsaid) point, spells shouldn't be removed from a mod like this any more than artillery or barbarians should be removed from this or any mod. Maybe Firaxis will one day sort it out, but in the meantime, us human players can still enjoy using spells even if the AI doesn't.
 
Hey Embryo, maybe you should make a fourm on your site or something where we can talk about strategy and all about this mod (since it is very fun and already is very popular). Just a suggestion :)
 
That can be done here in this site. Just not in the Creations Forums. Isn't there a forum for threads like that here?

Not really. This is the only forum to talk about mods, and this thread, the only to talk about this mod in particular (apart from preview threads). Let's keep using this thread, though another forum will be opened prior to beta test, since CFC doesn't create custom subforums for people.
 
I think that labels.txt is slightly fudged up as well though, looking at the victory screen. Is there anything other than the display of the year that a new labels.txt changes?
 
Yeah, but some minor stuff like culture names (for Palace which isn't working anyway...) or mini-popups like "produced" isntead of "enslaved". It is safe to remove it.

Yes I know, that's where I wanted to open "another forum" ;) (and run beta test).
BTW what program are you going to use to make units?

As for the units I haven't really gotten going yet, although I have downloaded Flicster and Storyboard - haven't had a chance to play with them yet. I just saw your link to the DAZ Studio Poser clone, so I will get that tonight.

I already have MS Paint, IrfanView, and PSP.

EDIT: My GF's little brother just told me he has 3D Studio Max, and that he is willing to let me have it! :eek: :goodjob:
 
I'm sure I've seen mention of these somewhere in the topic, however I don't seem to be able to find a lionk for them.

What is the link for these, for some reason I can't extract the link for the headpack on the first post :(

That's the only valid link in the first post and it does work. If you can not extract a .rar file, get latest WinRAR or WinACE.

this is my first post for this mod. your mod looks great but when i tryed to start the mod in the game it came up with this message
" ERROR READING FILE

missing entry in "scenerios\WH-Mod\text\pediaicons.txt":ICON_BLDG_SS_THRUSTERS"

i know this has probaly been asked before but what do i do?
i realy want this to work. i have c3c v1.00 i downloaded the headpacks and the main bit asweel as the patch for c3c and its patch. plz help:rolleyes:

You installed the mod file(s) in the wrong place. I can't you help you in other way, than telling you to read the install instructions once more, carefully, since I don't know exactly what did you do. If you need detailed help, you have to provide more detailed information (where did you install each of the packages etc.) - PM me if needed.

i origanly looked for ptw scenerios folder but it wasnt there so i placed the files which were ment ot go there in the conquests scenerio folder instead. the leaderhead file net art i placed into the civ3 main folder

EDIT:
i looked in the ptw folder again it still wasnt there. the i realised i had never actualy started up ptw ( i got it with conquests so i just went into that) i opened the scenarios folder exited looked in my ptw folder and lo and behold there was the scenario file. im just moving things round now. hope it works.

embryodead, do you plan to eventually replace all the civ3 graphics that are used in your mod ( well atleast the ones which don't look medieval) for example using the egyptian war chariot for the high elves' Tiranoc chariot? I suspect this would require alot of work, but I do hope you do it, as it would make the scenario more 'fantasy'.
