Warhammer Fantasy Mod 2.5

I just got around to downloading this mod and giving it a try (took 6 freakin' hours.... The download got dropped halfway through the first time and I had to start over  ), and I'd like to say great job :goodjob:

There is one, itty-bitty, teeny-tiny problem though: My name is NOT listed in the credits for Wonder splashes and Misc graphics, despite the fact that you used my Windhurst Lighthouse graphics for the White Tower's building icons and wonder splash. Perhaps you could see your way to rectifying this error? :deal:

`kay, how`s this?

Spoiler :
Hikaro Takayama made the Windhurst Lighthouse graphics (building icons and wonders splash) used for the White Tower of Ulthuan. I think he did a great job with it and I am going to play the Pansies Elves in my next game, just so I could check it out again. Hikaro rules.

In other news, I am planning an unofficial expansion, updating the mod with about 70 new unit gfx, made by our talented fellow members, but its far from ready.

As somene said the other day, it takes Sandris less time to make units than it takes me to add them. I also have to get my personal version sorted out first, and then make another as close to the original as possible with only a few name changes like i.e. I replaced the Araby Pikeman with one of Sandris` spear dudes, so I renamed the unit to Guard. I may change it to Heavy Spearman. Anyway, its not a pikeman anymore, so I might have to move it from Polearms. I will open these things for discussion when the time comes.

When I release it, I`ll mention Hikaro and his Lighthouse in the Credits :)

Sorry about that, I was in a bit testy mood last week..... BTW, I'm currently PWNING everyone in my current Monarch-level game.... I'm playing as Nippon, and I started on a rather isolated continent with the Dolgans and Skaven, both of whom tried to attack me early on, but because I out-expanded them, I beat them both back to 1 city each, and only tolerated them as long as they behaved themselves, which they didn't, so they got wiped out, but not before one of my suicide war-galleys managed to find the other continent, and I met the Tileans, Norsca, Khemeri, Naggaroth and Cathay. I also managed to snag the only source of Brightstone by landing a settler party at the only unclaimed location on the Tilean-Khemeri continent, shortly before the Dark Elves and Khemeri wiped them out. The dark elves then made the mistake of attacking me, and I got everyone to dogpile them (including the 1CC skaven  ), and was able to take over a large island to the north.

Sometime after this, the Dark Elves managed to wipe out the Norsca, and I grabbed two nice city locations near where the Norse capital was...

Then, I fortified and filled the city on the Khemeri continent full of troops (it also had walls, a keep and a castle rushed in it), and sent all my fireblast spells (auto-produced by all the wizard's guilds on the main continent), in preparation for Khemeri's inevitable attack, which came not long after I was done prepping Naha's (the city on the Khemeri continent) defenses. I managed to get everyone to dogpile the Khemeri, and in fairly short order, I managed, with the help of the dark elves, to wipe the Khemeri out (and thankfully before they built the spell of awakening!).

Not long after that, the dark elves attacked me, while I had an active ROP with Cathay

So, Cathay and I managed to spank the Dark Elves pretty good, everyone made peace, and I'm getting close to the domination limit... My main focus is to get a marketplace, merchant's guild and bank in every city, and a seafarer's guild in all coastal cities, since maintainance/unit support costs are killing me, and I need all the gold I can get... As a matter of fact, early on, I started reducing captured cities down to 1 population producing "foreign" workers that had 0 unit support costs, and re-joining all my native workers back to my cities as soon as I could. I'm also building huge troop concentrations in my cities (actually former Norse cities) on the Dark Elves home continent in preparation to stomp the dark elves good next time they get uppity and try to attack me... I have at least 3 armies on that continent loaded with Mercenaries (I built all the unit auto-producing wonders thus far), Ironguts, Earth Elementals, and Gryphon Riders....

I'm also working on a Lite patch of my own... Mainly to get all the Amazon units "decent" (i.e. reduce the mod's ESRB rating from Mature to Teen), with no more topless Amazons, plus a few additional units/tweaks to de-suckify the Amazons (with the units they got now, it's no wonder they never last long in any of the games I've played with them in)... One of which is a unit, available with Awakening called the "Valkyrie", which has similar stats to a Grail Knight (and just happens to use a recently created unit of mine's graphics :D)

All you potenial patchsters please keep in mind some pedia entries for all the critters and magical things are much needed part to this game. How else to improve the 700+ turn investmetn of time in a dramtic way when all other areas are alomst perfect to begin with, or can be tinkered with by the player (like att or movement points) to acheive this on a personal level

. Lots of people I encounter here say they read the pedia in deafult civ and complain when new mods add a lot but do away with "disciption" for the 'blank page'. Id rather see a small expansion that took the time copy/pasting a few lines of info, least thats my mind

I know made up stuff is harder but many like to know more about the things they encounter or choose to build, besides there att/def rating. Its like lil reward for the intellect so a worthy investment when you think your name goes behind the game being sent round the world( mybe the makers's only product that enjoys this wide level of distribution so I say do it up good! )

Give us where there fighting weight, their favorite drinks, who they are banging, you know, the usual tidbits (which means none of what just mentioned lol)
Those magic cards come with a discption of the units and magical items locations(wonders) I mean There must be sources made up or not, you can improve the game with by keepin the pedia the same way the creators set up.
Why flesh out the roster and if its hollowed out lacking supportin information . It would go along way for gameplay if the mod went a lil more indepth don;t you think?

Taking advantage of Civ 3's deafult pedia's as a slick link refernce template could turn out to be the best thing going for this mod, a fully utlized pedia would tell the story of warhammer when you played all civs. This potentaily would make the best delevery system for any info catalogue ever seen in the fanatsy gaming world including board game, cards, PC, console or even net!

Its easy to see teh effect on the civ3 mod world. Works like "Medevil mod", "Balancer Rl", "Rise n' Rule", "Rood n Dragon" all show us the best mods keep the qaulty in all aspects, so I don't see why the best fantasy mod should have to sacrifice when it this theme that has the most users come in unknowing of what all the entails.

OK an this is the last long lecture I give on proper pedia presention to people who make us free awesome games, I promise :D

Its been in the works for over a year now, here is a small preview :)

This is my personal version,
- I changed the Civ-color to Amazon Green,
- I replaced the Peasant with a flavour Warrior unit (Warrior stats too)
- I replaced the Pikeman with the Heavy Spearman (not sure about the tech yet)
- I added the Arab Corsair (the Indic one is getting replaced by a Chakra Thrower, or I might leave the Indic version using one of Shiro`s new units)
- The spellcasters share gfx as with most civs, they are called Magician and Great Magician
- I replaced the Dervish with the Knight unit
- I replaced the Long Rifle with the Crossbowman (standard Invention Tech)
- I am using utah`s elephant as a flavor one for Araby, cos its an african elephant. Firaxis one is used for Ind
- few other gfx updates, obvious from the picture :)

This mod is like a dream come true ! I love the whole Warhammer universe so this is just what I'm looking for.

The only problem I see with it is that there was no effort to model champions and the vast armies involved with Warhammer strategy. You should port this to Civ4 and incorporate Dale's Combat Mod. That way what you bring to battle would be a serious point of strategy (in DCM unit stacks fight all at once, that way the total unit mixture contributes to success :spear:).

Sorry, but the only way to "port" mods to CIV always supposing we actually wanted them there in the first place would be um, magic. There's tons of people over in the CIV forums, a mod will eventually get made..some day. Meanwhile and even afterwords there's still Civ III. :king:

Just played one of my most frustrating games I can remember... I played as Dark Elves, so it was always going to be an uphill battle, but Khemri declared war on me unprovoked (sneak attack, no diplomacy) and proceeded to convince 3 of my 5 other neighbours (Orcs, Lahmia & Goblins) to declare war on me in the same turn, I responded by signing a military alliance with the Chaos Dwarfs against Khemri, but a few turns later they signed a peace treaty, and then allied against me straight away. Just incase that wasnt bad enough, the only remaining neutral kingdom nearby, the High Elves, decided to join in on the military alliances and declared war on me also.
I was actually holding my own for quite a while, but after 45 battles (almost all of which were swordsmen/chariots attacking my fortified spearmen and corsairs as I had too many enemies attacking to manage a counter-attack) I had a grand total of 6 victories... Considering that most of the battles should have been a 50/50 chance of winning that was... frustrating to say the least.
Anyways, just wanted to vent a bit at losing the better part of a day on a game and losing in that fashion. (I retired well before I had lost, but was in too bad of a position to continue)
