[BTS] Warhammer FB Version 1.5

but it would be nice if i could cast mutation on another unit than the warlock and the units in the same tile... cause that one doesent pick a random enemy =( you COULD use the unitmissile method: a targeted spell summons a unit, this unit then moves onto whatever the target is and BAM! the effect is applied to the target. Thats how the firaball spell worked in Fall From Heaven: Age of Ice.

There are many spells that work like Fireball, but that wouldn't really make sense for non-combat buff spells like mutate. Mutate only works on your own troops, not on enemy troops.
The AI can cast mutate to affect all the units in its own stack - all enchantment spells work this way - but how would you get it to understand summoning a "mutation spell" unit that it was supposed to then move into another tile?
If you want it to target particular units of yours, just micro them to move into the stack with the warlock and then cast the spell.
I see no possible gain for trying to make this a targeted spell.

The only spells that could use targetting are things like dominate and charm person and pillar of fire type spells, but these auto-target the largest enemy stack in range, which works fine.

the thig is: mutate has both positive and negative effects. it should be castable on enemies too. but i see your point =) once again: GREAT MOD! it keep suprising me in ways i hadnt imagined ^^

It doesn't make sense for mutate to be castable on enemies; its representing the blessings of Tzeentch. Tzeentch doesn't bless the enemies of chaos. And most of the effects are positive.

We're also planning to create a whole bunch of new Warhammer-themed mutations that the spell can draw from (extra limbs, scaly hide, wings, etc. etc).

i think the idea of summoing a 'pyre zombie' like unit from FfH which attacks an enemy and when they die a certain chunk of python is activated could work for some select spells whose effects id want to be targetable, as you say, like domination, and such. but overall ahriman is right :p

and yeh any ideas for new mutations (and their effects in game) are more than welcome :)

i dont know if this is really hard to make for some reason or something, but if you somewhere on each civ's discription told that they are fx "the dwarves" it would be alot easyer ;) since i didnt know all those nice names they have right now (exept for lustrian ofc...) so shortly said: I think the races should just be called The Dwarves, The Beasts of Chaos, The Vampire Counts, etc. would make it alot easyer for a warhammer fan to go in and choose his fav race =) this is just my oppinion, but it would be helpfull =S

Any real Warhammer fan should know what they are.....
I think the existing ones are more flavorful, less generic fantasy.

Overall, I'm with Ahriman on this one, but it might not be a bad idea to do something like Khazad (Dwarves) on the "pick your civ" screen.

That would be pretty harmless if you could make it just affect that screen, but I worry that the text entry is actually the one for Civ name. And so everything then that calls on that text entry (eg events, etc.) use the same thing, and it would be lame getting "The Kingdom of Khazad (Dwarves) gets xyz" messages in-game.

And you can spend 5 mins in the civilopedia looking through the leader list and figuring out which is which anyway.

Yeah, if it can be done only for that screen, I'd go for it, but if it has to be everywhere (even ingame) I'd stick with how it is now.

ahriman is right, i could make it so that it said 'Khazad (Dwarves)' in the choose your civ screen, but then every other time the khazad civilization name shows up (ie diplomacy) it will show 'Khazad (Dwarves)'. it dosnt take long to figure out which civ is which, thought i agree that for first timers it would be useful.

ill take a look into it though, if its an easy solution then i will do so :)

EDIT: i just realised that 'Khazad' arent even in WH, theyre from FfH hahaha :p it should be Karaz-a-Karak or something.... (i cant believe ive forgotten their name! shocking!)

Well... the civ NAME could be dwarves (or whatever).... but the civ desription (or whatever) could be the real warhammer name. That would be nice =) then its easy to choose your civ, and its still... warhammer name... something... like... oh whatever! dont know how to say it =P

Oh and... even though im not THAT much into chaos, souldnt there be a "Demons of Chaos" or something civ? would make sense to me =) and i think you should add Lord Kroak as a lizardmen leader ;) oh and one last thing: you should add some random events for findings of artefacts. fx: Some workers deiscovered a ancient crypt near (citynamehere), what should we do? 1: Consecrate the crypt to ensure it doesent contain undead fiends! 2: search the crypt for valueable artefacts! (find a artefact) 3: Leave the crypt untuched. or something like that =P Artefacts could be represented by specialists. I mean when a great something joins a city, this city gets some bonuses. You could replace some names and stuff and we got artefacts =) (i hope you can make sense out of this post...)
Edit: You might edit abit on the things some of the leaders say... i met the orcs and (since they were bigger than me =P) said "There shall be peace in our time!" but... their answer suprised me =P "There is no way to peace, Peace is the way" O.ô no offence or anything but... thats just not what youd expect a orc to say XD

We're not going to make a Demons of Chaos civ, but there will be some chaos demons available to civs with the Corruption religions (Bloodletters, Daemonettes, Plaguebearers, etc.).
Much of what you suggest will also be included when the explorable dungeons mod from Fall Further gets included into this mod. Artifacts are represented by Equipment items as in FFH/FF.

The diplomacy text are also mostly placeholders, rather than warhammers specific flavor. If you'd like to volunteer to write more flavorful text I'm sure that could be looked at.

Wrting Text: im your man.
Putting Things Into The Game: Ehh... no.
So if you just want me to WRITE the text, itl come right up. But i cant do more than that.
(I love writing stuff O.ô)

Should actually be Dawi if memory serves.

thats the Dawi Zharr, the chaod dwarves :)

Oh and... even though im not THAT much into chaos, souldnt there be a "Demons of Chaos" or something civ?

Theyre gonna be the major barbarian civ ;) got some interesting things planned for that ;)

i think you should add Lord Kroak as a lizardmen leader

I did seriously consider this, but considering in all the Warhammer versions Kroak has been dead, id rather make him a rebuildable hero, similar to Barnaxus in Fall from heaven. (in simple language i want him to be a mega-super unit that you can only build once, but when he dies his 'remains' turn into a capturable unit that you can recaptur from the enemy, take to your city and rebuild him :)

you should add some random events for findings of artefacts

also planned ;)

i definately need to get to this as well. itll be done soon though :) thanks :D

awsome :D if you find anything that you think need text (or to be re written) feel free to write somehting up and ill add it into the game :D (i have a huge back log of other text people have written for us though so it wont be immediately put in ;) )

well i got some ideas for what orcs should say when you ask for peace at first encounter:
1: Hah! Puny (playercivname) hides from the mighty orcs! keep hiding and we might leave you alone!
2: Peace doesent exist, there is only the time between war.
3: Fine, we leave you alone. But only until there is noone else to destroy!
4: Hmpf. Peace.
5: Go become big and mighty. Then we got something to smash!
I have this idea for the "The End Times" tech text. I dont know if there already is one, or how it goes, but i thought this would be good:
"The sky will be red, the ground will burn, everything will burn. The gods of chaos will walk the earth, all life will be extinguished, no beauty will remain. No order, only chaos, all chaos. This is the end times" - Last words of Schaaak, High Cultist of Tzeench

More stuff will be added ^^

pretty good :) but iirc someone made greenskin diplomacy already. i think what you have there is more suitable for some more civilised aggressive civ like norsca perhaps.

and for othe text ideas could you please post theme [HERE], i dont want this thread to get too cluttered :)

thats the Dawi Zharr, the chaos dwarves :)

I know that thw Chaos Dwarves are the Dawi Zharr, but I believe that the regular Dwarves are just the Dawi (admittedly I don't know that the name is used a lot, but I've heard it). Wikipedia seems to agree with me (for whatever that means):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwarf_(Warhammer)

But it doesn't seem to be a name that others call them much, more what they call themselves.
